She took the time to answer all of my questions and made sure I was as comfortable as possible during the process. The procedure itself took about 15 minutes, not counting the additional time needed to let the numbing cream kick in. As she started the procedure, we realized that more numbing cream was needed, so that was another 10 to 15 minutes tacked on to the time. Unfortunately, the procedure was not as painless as was initially described, but it's not prohibitively uncomfortable. Dr. Kim checked in with me throughout the process and if I needed a break, she would take a pause and give me one. After the procedure, Dr. Kim gave me some wound care instructions as well as some ointment to put on the site as it healed. I'm happy to report that there was no pain or discomfort after the procedure. Procedure side, I love the energy of this place. There's all kinds of holistic, homeopathic, and ayurvedic materials in here including incense, tea, crystals, candles, sage bundles, palo santo, and all sorts of sprays and tonics to help purify your home or your environment. There are even gift sets for all the holistic homegirls in your life. They also sell accessories including ankle bracelets and custom waist beads imported from Ghana. Every single one of the staff members I've met has been absolutely wonderful. Warm, and friendly, and welcoming. While looking for a colonic black owned business, I stumbled upon Inspired Thru Nature. As I began browsing their website, I noticed one service I always wanted to try, the ionic foot detox (scheduled a colonic for another time). An ionic foot detox is said to work by pulling the toxins out of your body through your feet. I texted the number on the website and sent an email requesting an appointment for two and luckily, the business had a dual machine and was able to do a couple's detox. Response was quick and a few hours after my initial contact. The owner is very accommodating and helps to work around your schedule. As you walk in, you're asked to complete paper work, a quick two/three page doc. We were then escorted to the back room, sat on a comfy sofa and advised of the purpose of each device we were being connected to.... a wrist wrap, foot basin w/ sea salt, and warm waist wrap (for comfort). She started the machine and checked on us a few times throughout the process allowing us to relax and enjoy the soft music and aromatherapy smells in the air. During and after the treatment she explained what toxins was being release based on a color chart. Once done, our foots were removed from the tub and placed in a regular soaking basin to clean off followed by the owner drying our feet off and providing a quick oil rub massage. I highly recommend these and the many other ways to detox the body (cleanses/colonics). Our systems are overloaded with high levels of toxicity from the harmful chemicals in our hygiene products, cleaning products, foods we eat, and natural airborne toxins. The liver/kidneys works overtime to filter them out so detox methods are a great way to help out.

Depending on what kind of person you are, Pam is not very welcoming nor does she say a lot. So if you're a person that requires that level of attention, then I'd pass on this place. The prices are a little high from what I'm used to ($85 per visit), but I was curious to inquire about any special discount packages Pam was offering. The rule is, you come three times, but on your 3rd visit, it goes from $85 to $65. What wasn't communicated to me was that you have to come within a week of each other. I spaced mine out over 2 months and was quite surprised that during my third visit, I had to pay $85. After she explained that they had to be done within a week of each service, I let it go --- and paid the $85 for the third visit although, she never communicated that to me in the beginning. I was thinking she'd meet me in the middle and have me pay $75, but nope. And I let that go... Well... I started a "new series" with her and this is when it began to get weird. I would text her and she would be late responding or would hit me up the day before an appointment that I never scheduled. Or, she wouldn't remember when you came/didn't come (she keeps a really bad time sheet in a manila envelope in a large file cabinet). There was even one time I booked with her and the next day, her assistant never showed up which was a total inconvenience to me. She kept saying she would make up for it etc etc. and when she finally did... she tried to charge me $85?!?! I went through my phone and gave her each time I came etc. She was missing a visit (of course) which brought my total from $85 to $65 -- then I looked at her like "Ummmm, didn't you say you were going to give me a discount for the no-show incident." She gave me a discount --- it was $10 off. So, I received $10 off of a service when you didn't show up for a confirmed appointment that I had to move my schedule around for? Wow! Whenever I patronize businesses, I will give you an opportunity to make it right before I make the decision to not come back. As a business owner, you have to truly ask yourself "am I doing the right thing by the customer?" or "Is there something else I should be doing to make my customer's experience better" or "If I was in their shoes, would I come back?" Maybe she was like that previously hence the 5-star reviews, but I don't think it holds in 2019. I haven't been back nor will I.

The Green Coterie is a beautiful healing lounge and creative wellness space that offers restorative experiences such as sound healing, creative workshops, tea gatherings, and other community-centered events designed to help people slow down, reconnect, and build meaningful connections. I coordinate community outings for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and during our visit the owner welcomed our group with open arms and incredible hospitality. She took the time to share more about the space and its mission, and even treated the clients to cake, chips, water, and tea, which made them feel very special and included. As part of our volunteer activity, the clients painted positive community rocks filled with encouraging messages and artwork. These rocks will be placed throughout the community so others can find them and receive a small moment of positivity and encouragement. It was such a meaningful activity because it allowed our clients to give back while also expressing their creativity. Experiences like this are so important because they promote inclusion and create opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities to connect with their community in positive ways. The owner created such a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment that made this experience memorable for everyone involved. We are incredibly grateful to The Green Coterie for opening their doors to us and allowing our clients to be part of something so uplifting.
