Horrible service. Dr. Hlis is rude and does not listen to clients. I do not recommend.

Okay, I'll be honest up front. I'm not the best at taking care of my eyes or wearing my contacts…read moreappropriaely, but my experience here was AWFUL! I've been wearing contacts now for 14 years. I've visited many different optometrists in many different cities. First, scheduling the appointment was very easy and painless. I was only in Brownwood for a limited amount of time, and they were able to accommodate my time crunch. (I see why now.) STRIKE 1 - The receptionist asked me to come in a little early to update my file since it had been several years since visiting Dr. Kramer. (I had been living somewhere else for several years and had visited other optometrists.) I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment, and the office was locked and all employees were gone to lunch. At 3 minutes til my appointment time, the receptionist and Dr. arrived back to the office from lunch. The receptionist did the initial tests (the air puff thing, the hot air balloon/farmhouse image, etc). During these test she "man-handled" my head to put it in the correct locations rather than telling me where/how to place my head. STRIKE 2 - Dr. Kramer determined during the visit that I "abuse my contacts". Okay, fine I don't take great care of them. I'll admit that. However, he decides he is not going to give me a my contact prescription. He will only give me a prescription to get glasses. The biggest problem is that there's no business in town that can make glasses in the amount of time I have left in Brownwood. Dr. Kramer knows all of this from our conversation during the visit.. He suggests I travel to Abilene to have my glasses made at Lenscrafters or another business that can produce them in an hour. Problem is, I can't see! I don't have contacts or glasses to wear in the meantime, to drive to Abilene, or to return home where I could have the glasses made. Dr. Kramer finally decides he'll provide me with a pair of contact to wear until I can get glasses, but he demands that I throw them away as soon as I have glasses. Dr. Kramer proceeds to put the contacts in for me. In the past, I've greatly enjoyed having someone put the contacts in for me...not this time! STRIKE 3 - Now, it's time for me to pay. I have been given a prescription for glasses, but will not be receiving a prescription for contacts. The receptionist rings up my bill and includes the contact fee. I explain to her that I am not being given a contact prescription, therefore I should only be charged for the glasses exam. The receptionist then explains that though my prescription is being "held hostage", I still received the exam and must pay for it. At this point to not expose my temper, I pay and leave. STRIKE 4 (as if I needed another) - Even if I were going to be able to get my contact prescription, Dr. Kramer requires a follow up visit before he'll give you your contact prescription. This for me would require coming back to Brownwood in 1 - 2 weeks. I don't have the time for this! In summary, I'll be getting a second opinion....and informing everyone that may need to know what a terrible experience I had at Dr. Kramer's.
