Drexelbrook SEEMS like they nice apartments from the outside and from what they show you, but is genuinely a run down apartment building that the owners will just paint a new coat of paint and possibly change the carpets just to get new buyers in. Have talked to multiple residents and we have all complained. They have ONE HVAC maintenance person for HUNDREDS of units (upwards to 1000+) and last summer we were out of a working AC for over a month with at least 4 maintenance requests put in. PECO charged us $300+ every month for an AC that didn't work. They told me I should be patient as they have a lot of people to attend to. I have asthma that is triggered by heat - still did not get to us any faster. These owners are CHEAP and have said replacing any appliances are the very last resort. Currently, our fridge still does not get nearly as cold as it should be. Have called 3-4 times about it and supposedly they fixed it but the same problem. Now, they tell us to turn the dial up a little more (originally they said not to touch it...make it make sense) It's ridiculous! We pay all of this money and they can't replace our fridge that has been here for 10 years plus?! We also specifically got a 2 bedroom apartment for the washer and dryer...also sucks. We have had issues with drying multiple times and honestly needs to get replaced too...they don't care. Have had water issues as well when we first moved in. Gaslit me and told me I wasn't turning on the faucet correctly. Next time I put a request in, another person told me what was wrong. Maintenance people vary and some are better than others. Sure it's "cheaper" than the market nowadays but find somewhere else if you can! Yesterday, large part of a tree fell and absolutely demolished the car next to me. My partner's back window is GONE. Had to wait an hour to call security because they open at 7pm...also ridiculous. Said they are aware of the problem but cannot move it until the morning without an ETA of when they would move it. Blocked my car (as the tree was laying on my car and could not get out nor move it) and forced to take off work. Have talked to people that have lived here for 9+ years and they have never changed their carpet ONCE. Leasing agent told me they change it every so often. Is THAT every so often? I'm happy that the new Management removed the trash rooms from the basements, which the Management addressed in a quick, timely manner. I love the convenience of being close to a Trolley stop, and the gym hours. I always enjoy coming home to the well kept grounds and spotting the occasional deer. My husband and I moved to Drexelbrook six weeks ago and are glad we did. Our favorite aspect is the nature that surrounds us on our walks around the community. As the seasons change, you can't help but admire the beautiful landscaping. The leasing office and maintenance staff go out of their way to accommodate your requests and make you feel like family. The buildings were built in the late 1940s and feel more like individual homes than apartments which is more comforting than living in a box. 2.5. Okay. Lived here for five years and have seen some improvements such as lines finally being painted in the parking lots. Which doesn't equate to the annual rent increase. When you compare the unit size/price/school district of Drexelbrook compared to neighboring communities they lack in competitiveness. Playgrounds are disgusting and need to be updated. Looks like they haven't seen any improvement since the 80s. I'm not comfortable letting children play in the apartment playgrounds due to this and take them to playgrounds outside of the complex. NOISE!! Walls are paper thin and I'm no newbie to apartment living. I'm a native New Yorker and have lived in apartments for 18 years in NY as well as 4 years of dorm life. Never have I experienced anything like this. I can smell what my neighbors are cooking near the washing machine hookup, I can hear the neighbors cough, laugh, talk, snore (no exaggeration), as well as the occasional hearing them have sex. HORRIBLE. Don't have children that need to go to school in the morning or a job that requires you to wake up for a morning start time if you have neighbors that think 10 PM is afternoon time for them and complaints about noise fall on deaf ears. Trash room. This is the dumbest trash room idea I have ever seen. "Let's just place some trash cans in the basement of a few buildings and let people throw their trash out any way they want". It's disgusting. Mouse traps are everywhere in the basement. Speaking of mice. I've lived here 5 years and was comfortable with the other issues due to not having to worry about rodents. Well guess what... recently we've been finding mice droppings EVERYWHERE. Clean it up today and there's more tomorrow. From my countertops, living room, bedroom, dining table, and closets. Call maintenance and they "seal" holes and place traps (have caught 0) and the mice are still rumbling around. I have small children, one who is a baby it's terrifying to think the baby may ingest a mouse poop or freshly sterilized bottles are contaminated due to the mice playing footsies on my counters. Staff: All the staff are very pleasant to work with. I have no complaints about their professionalism, turn around time on repairs, and simple chit chat as people. Drexelbrook is a joke. We left the apartment in wonderful condition after being there more than 3 years. There was one red stain on the living room carpet. The charge? $278 off our security deposit. Nick Angelini, management at Drexelbrook's reasoning (after reviewing the pictures himself), I quote "If there is a stain on the carpet we may have to rip up and replace the whole carpeting in the apartment." Excuse me? Because of one stain, I, the prior tenant, am responsible for the costs of replacing the carpeting throughout the entire apartment? He didn't have an answer for that one, besides "The charges will stay as they are." Outside of this, behind our apartment, there were kids regularly parked smoking weed. I have also witnessed people having sex in a car out back our apartment. Parking? A joke. There are regularly people with more than 2 cars per apartment. I've seen people park business trucks consistently, with no Drexelbrook stickers. Want to have fun with your kid? Sorry. You're not allowed to kick a soccer ball with your 4 year old on the front lawn where people driving by can see. We have to "go in the back where people can't see" according to security. With all apartments, there are positives and negatives. Your situation will differ from others so it's important to weigh all items according to your lifestyle and see if this place is good for you. Cosmetically, the community is good. There is a difference in landscaping/curb appeal from building to building so if that is high on your list, look at different areas. You should be able to find an area you love. There appears to be common complaints about parking and the monthly newsletters. To us, neither are an issue. If anything, it may be an annoyance a handful of times per year. Some residents have complained about the language/messaging in the monthly newsletters but we do not have an issue. We like the fact that there is a monthly newsletter and that the management uses a small section of the pamphlet to reinforce community standards and rules. Due to the age of the buildings, there are some things you may run into while living here: - There is no exhaust fan in the kitchen nor in the bathroom. You will see excess moisture buildup in the bathroom and if you cook a lot, prepare to clean the false vent hood and surrounding areas routinely. There is a potential for grease to build up which is a fire hazard so if you are not cleaning it regularly, get a fire extinguisher. - Depending on your neighbors, you may hear a lot of what they do. The soundproofing in between apartments is minimal to non-existent. Again, this is due to the age of construction. - The basement houses additional free storage, laundry facilities, and trash. Our basement allows water in it whenever it rains and depending on how quickly it dissipates, the smell can be quite bad when mixed with trash. We have a washer/dryer in our unit so the trips to the basement are quick and not a problem. - The plumbing system appears to have a lot of mileage on it. Slow or clogged drains can happen often so be sure to dispose of trash/items properly so you are not contributing to any issues. - The windows are great to look at but can be drafty. If you get blackout curtains that fit the community guidelines, you will save money on your heating and cooling. - The central AC and heating is a great amenity. You will notice temperature changes from room to room due to the ducts though. This will also vary depending on if you are first or second floor and the season. - We wish there were more grounded outlets. The majority of outlets in your living room and both bedrooms will not be grounded so you should look into adapters. Without adapters, your 3-pronged power cables and/or surge protectors cannot be utilized. - The popcorn ceiling is deteriorating in 1 area. Just a small tennis ball sized hole above the dining room table. Rebecca reached out to me and clarified my misunderstanding. She was extremely helpful, set up a date for the minor repair, and sent along a confirmation. The majority of maintenance personnel and other employees are good. So far we have had a few items that required maintenance. - They fixed a busted water heater which only took a few hours for them to remove and replace. Great service and conversation during the process. - When the ceiling in our bathroom was caving in due to a leak upstairs, they were quick to fix the problem upstairs and remove the damaged ceiling. It took over 4 weeks of having a hole in the bathroom ceiling and a follow up call to maintenance for the hole to be patched though. - Starting last week, we have had numerous issues with our furnace that has caused our heat to stop working. After the 1st visit, the furnace functioned for 8 hours before becoming inoperable. Maintenance showed up the next day, found the root cause of the issue, and allowed our furnace to function again. This lasted for about 6 days until it stopped working again. Maintenance came today and fixed it. Hope it stays as the weather continues to drop into the 30s at night. All personnel have been pleasant and caring. The follow up calls from management to ask about your experience with the service calls speaks to their level of customer service. The location is great and the grounds, security, and amenities are better than nearby apartments. The monthly rent has increased over $100 since we moved in and will most likely be one of the largest factors for our departure. Talking to friends in this community we are hearing that some of them are paying near 10% less than us. Most of them moved in about a year before us. Of course, that cannot be verified so take that with a grain of salt. It would be nice if the payment options could be updated. You have to drop off a check in the designated mailbox. Other apartments in the area accept electronic payment. The free gym is great along with having Sophisticakes so close by. Seriously, go buy something from Sophisticakes. We enjoy our friendly neighbors that currently share our complex. If you have very loud or unfriendly neighbors, you could be in for a rough time. read more

I moved in and right away there were rodent droppings even though things look nice. The exterminators can't seem to catch the mice. In July of 2015 the ratings for Drexelbrook Apts were 62% and within months dropped to 48%.The friendly leasing consultant showed me two beautiful sample apartments which my sister and niece liked also.She advised me she lives here and her sister was moving in as well.I even showed her the bad reviews which included the ones about the trash and bugs.I was assured I would love the apartment she would get for me.I fell for it hook,line and sinker.My move date was 3-31 she wouldn't let me see my apartment until 3-29(my second mistake)The apartment I am in is over a basement with a storage bin, a coin operated washer/dryer and trash bin with uncovered small trash cans for the building none of which the friendly leasing consultant told me about.Deer mice which are native to Pa,carry the Hunta virus and cause the spread of Lyme disease.Mice are a health issue.I have a wooded area and trolley tracks behind the building.I found a mouse trap in the basement so someone knows there are mice in the basement.I checked the CDC website and it advises inside and outside trash should be housed in cans with tight lids.It is unclear to me how Upper Darby Township would permit trash bags to be thrown inside the basement door(are theses buildings ever inspected???) below the living quarters of the tenants and Drexelbrook not be required to house the trash in proper containers with lids.There are no big trash removal companies here to collect the trash.Trash is housed improperly and this is why they have so many complaints of mice,smells and droppings. A few problems inside the apartment.The lingering smell of whatever toxic substance that was used for shining the wood floors and the odors from the basement through the vents that recycle the air especially in the bedroom I probably need a HACV person to check.I have had a noise issue since April 4th and still have a noise issue with the family on the second floor.So even though Drexelbrook has a security dept they can only come out sometime in a timely manner most time not and observe the noise and report back to the office but never correcting the problem. I am not sure why the director of residential management hasn't called this family into his office to explain the rules of the lease and to advise the consequences if noise continues. . So going forward I will be seeking the advice from the Upper Darby Police department on the noise ordinance for this location and their advice on how to stop the noise. Was originally very pleased when we moved in, aside from a bug problem everything was ok. Maintenance department is fantastic. Few months ago had a bike stolen from basement and management was not concerned. Recently had ANOTHER bike stolen that was padlocked in storage bin. Thief violently smashed wooden bin and took bike and drexelbrook management is still unconcerned. No attempt at any kind of action. Starting to feel unsafe here and can't wait to get out. I have lived in this place for a number of years and left in 2015. This place was great with the old management. The place was quiet and secured. Background checks were done to get good renters in place. The new management is rude and not willing to work with renters if there is a problem, however, the staff is nice. The building that I stayed in had a cockroach issue, and some of the tenants that the new management placed in my building were noisy and used drugs. I remembered their warrant for arrest. So, I am not sure what type of background checks were done by the new management. The old security force was great. They come to your rescue immediately at anytime of the day. Under the new management, the old security was replaced by an outsourced group who was not very effective. They took more time to get to your unit, and they may or not handle your security request based on what management thinks, especially if it is after hours, where you really that security person. The renters pay for gas, and the gas is determined by the management, so you don't know how they come up with with those figures. I think this is way for management to profit from the renters. I do see the new management jacking up the rent on a consistent basis to probably pay for their high salaries. read more

I've actually lived at Drexelbrook Apartments since 1982 and have never regretted moving here. Although there have been many changes over the years, it has been my experience that the one constant is the professionalism, courtesy and friendly nature of the maintenance, security and office personnel. Handling of maintenance and security issues has been amazingly quick considering the number of apartments in this complex. Every single maintenance worker I've met has been friendly and helpful, even in passing. Now, because these are garden apartments you may occasionally see field mice. I consider this all part of co-existing with the natural surroundings. Drexelbrook does it's best to keep up the grounds and the proper function and appearance of all the buildings. It is incumbent upon the residents to do their part in keeping up appearances as well by properly bagging trash, not leaving personal items outside, etc. It is not unreasonable for Drexelbrook to raise these issues as friendly reminders. Everyone benefits when everyone pitches in. On any given day or evening, people are able to walk the grounds and appreciate the beauty of this place and some of the wildlife. Drexelbrook also provides a number of playground areas where residents can bring their children to play safely. During the winter months, the maintenance workers put in long hours to ensure that the streets, pavements, steps, and walkways are cleared for the residents. Winter is also a great time to meet your neighbors. Perhaps I've been extraordinarily lucky. When it snows, my neighbors and I are always outside shoveling and sharing some laughs. We don't have to, but why not? Because we live in such close proximity to our neighbors, it's understandable that there will be noise issues. I find that approaching your neighbor in a friendly manner is so much more effective than complaining constantly to the management office. Complaints to management should be a last resort. These apartments were built in the late 1950s when most households had only one car, so parking can be difficult. Drexelbrook is constantly working to provide more parking, but again the tenants need to be mindful of how and where they park. Drexelbrook encourages residents to contact Security if they need help with a parking issue. I would not hesitate to recommend Drexelbrook Apartments to anyone looking for a place to live. I applied to live here a month and a half before my previous lease ended. Over the next five weeks, I was transferred between 3 leasing agents, sent multiple emails, made numerous phone calls, and visited the leasing office. Each time, I was told that I would have an answer by the end of the week to the end of the afternoon. However, I never heard back from anyone. Having not heard back from Drexelbrook five days before my lease expired, I wrote a letter to the leasing office stating that I was forced to find another apartment and requested my money back for my application fee as they had not provided the service that they were contractually obligated to apply. Fifteen minutes later, I received a call from the third leasing agent I had spoken with telling me that I was not approved (I was easily approved by a more expensive apartment up the road). I love my townhouse and they have accommodated all request. I now have my garage right outside my home. I have new washer and dryer and most staff have been extremely pleasant. The only reason its not a 5 is because dogs aren't allowed. Other than that great community. The community is quiet and my commute to University City is very easy. There are actually a lot of Penn med students that live here. Ok because I am honest. Here is the real deal! I was super excited about moving in. Although I knew 4 coworkers who lived here and one told me horrible stories!! I asked the other 3 and they said it was ok! Used to be very nice place but fell off alot. Well the day I moved in there were rocks to my bedroom wall, the very first night. Racial and Sexists slurs from immediate neighbors! One neighbor had his children and his young family members throwing rocks and hurling racial slurs. Complained to management' only Nick was dealing with me! So when I spoke to him he suggested it was the deer and such. My bedroom windows faced the service yard! Ugh! Lots of drug usage behind the bldg by neighbors and employees! Only one security guard was remotely helpful! I had to do my own investigation because frankly all I got was deny, deny, deny! Now I found most of the staff to be nice! My only complaint would be property manager made a troth of mistakes! I will not say don"t move here. What I do say is you probably could find something better for the price! Fact within the last 3 months over 20 residents have moved out. I lived in a cluster of people who seemed to not like to bathe! My clothes smelled horrible if I did not wear them daily! I was verbally abused daily because "I was not a team payer" when I questioned Nick, he looked like a deer caught in headlights. Again this is my experience. If you want to rent here be my guest! This place is not for everyone! I had to break my lease after 10 months and a meeting with property manager. My upstairs neighbor and other 3 tenants were racists! Yes I am a woman of color! Upstairs neighbor sat on stairwell daily hurling racial insults!! My experience was horrendous. The maintenance supervisor is racists, insulting, verbally abusive and rude! Please do not think I sat idlely by and did not bite back and bite hard! I called in the government. Employees slept in service yard for days on end! Again this is my experience . If you decide to give this place a try move to the left side of the renting office. The left side is loaded with alcoholics and people who use drugs!. All through the night people were outside my bedroom window wreaking of cheap cigar, dried urine and really bad order (foul odor). Every night I came in there were alcoholics and druggers outside behind my building (40) throwing rocks and hurling racists and sexists insults. The walls were super thin, I could hear all my neighbors and they could hear me At 5:45 am men in service yard and resident doing drugs just walked into my bedroom and it is waufting thru out my bedroom. I can barely breathe.This was my experience. Then a couple of times the owner suggested I should be grateful for being allowed to live here. Excuse you??!! I have been here since 2010/11 It was nice at first. As time goes on not so much. As one resident said the mouse problem they are very laid back about it when you complain. Yes the walls are paper thin. I hear the neighbors every morning between 3am/4am having their make out sessions! The worst as I have to be up early every morning 3:30am. Absolutely terrible. Management is completely cold and will force you to keep up your end of the lease, without doing their part. They threatened to tow my car when it had a flat tire for a few days, have entered the apartment without giving notice, threatened to make us pay for repairs for an issue that ended up being a leak in the plumbing, and are making us pay a late fee when the bill was received late. I tried asking nicely for understanding on the late fee, given their failure to give us the bill on time, but was told no, and that was the last straw that made me go from feeling okay about Drexelbrook to hating it. read more

I have been here for a year now and about 6 months in everything was fine. After though bug and rodent issues have occurred. My unit is above the basement and now smells like the basement due to the central air system and also by the washer and dryer located in the apartment has a mildew/mold smell. Drexel brook is also under new management, which would seem like a good thing but actually is worse. They switched how they provide their rent invoices from being hand delivered via mail to email without letting anyone know so first month that they took over I received a late fee before I realized I had a invoice. Then I tried to set up auto pay through the website that they provided and it wouldn't allow me and on top of that they charge a $40 convenience fee so I was late again after being frustrated. I complained onto deaf ears, I paid my rent but not the late fee and then received a email stating they will take me to court and evict me over $100 late fee as well as they charged me a additional $50 late fee for not paying the original late fee. I have never missed a payment until they took over. Realizing that you are transitioning a whole community into a new system and a new way of doing things you should know that there will be issues i'm not the only one as you can see from other residence that have issues with rodents, bugs, or late fees due to communication issues on Drexel Brooks part. Hold yourself as a management group to the same standards that you hold your residence. read more

Beware. This is place is the worst. The management office is terrible and honestly are hostel. They seriously do not provide you with solution to problems or issues . The parking situation is horrendous. Actually will give you parking tickets if you park in unmarked "firelanes ". If you get home past 4 pm you will never obtain an parking spot. They will not help you in regards to parking they say is not my problem that there's no spots available but yet still ticket and have security to call you threaten to tow you're car. The management office doesn't care about their tenets. There is a total lack of respect and regard to on time paying tenets. The management office need to work on their customers service. No. Just no. God forbid you live on the first floor--you'll spend your entire lease feeling like you live in the cargo bay of an old, wooden ship. These apartments are unbearably noisy. If you share an entranceway with other residents, you will hear them every time they open and shut their doors. Every door slams, and you'll be able to hear it in every room of your apartment. You can hear everything your neighbors do and say. I know when my neighbors are sick, fighting, and doing something that sounds like dropping bowling balls in the bedroom at 3 am. I'm going nuts. Unfortunately, I can't afford anything better. Oh, and bugs. Lots and lots of bugs. read more

We have been living at Drexelbrook for a little over a year. I love the surroundings; makes it feel so much more like a home than an apartment. The apartment is more than adequate and very comfortable. Although the bathroom is small, it is sufficient and we have adjusted. The staff has been great and any repairs we have needed have been done well and made on a timely basis. I would recommend these apartments to anyone; they are absolutely lovely. read more

When you call they take care of the problem at hand pronto and better yet, even call in a few days following-up to make sure all is ok. I recommend living here! It's such a sham(e). My husband and I loved the apartment and the neighborhood at Drexelbrook. But when both of us got new jobs several states away, we were unable to break our lease without incurring mega penalties. We ended up paying rent on two apartments for four months (which was actually cheaper than paying the penalties). I understand having to pay a penalty for breaking a lease, but 3 months rent plus any discounts received plus losing a $900 security deposit is ridiculous (it would have been almost $6,000). It is my opinion that Drexelbrook Management is greedy and doesn't care about its residents. read more

I have lived in Drexelbrook for over 3 years. The property is an older property but very well managed and maintained. When I call for a repair response is almost immediate. There is security patrol 24 hours 7 days a week. I moved here from Florida where I owned my own home. But as a senior now I decided not to buy but to rent. I have been very satisfied with my Apartment. Although it is older it has a lot of character and most of all the property is established and very nice. I feel good when I come home to Drexelbrook. For those who want city living in a well managed and maintained community I highly recommend Drexelbrook. read more

We just moved in and now wish we didn't. They nickel and dime you. The charge a fee if you leave you trash outside the trash cans. They charge a fee if you park in the wrong area. They charge a fee if you want to park over night in the neighborhood. They charge a lot of fees. That isn't to add the slow maintenance, thin walls and water that is only hot for about 5 minutes (which maintenance said is by design) read more

DO NOT MOVE TO DREXELBROOK APARTMENTS!!!! MICE INFESTATION (The office was informed and chose to do very little to help us) DUST/LEAVES/DEBRIS INSIDE AIR VENTS (made my 1 1/2 year old son and myself extremely ill) MAINTENANCE USED OUR PERSONAL PROPERTY TO DO THEIR JOB HARASSED BY SECRETARY IN OFFICE WHEN WE WANTED TO MOVE Where do I even start? My husband and I moved into Drexelbrook in the summer of 2011. I was pregnant at the time. Our downstairs neighbors smoked inside the apartment. I would get headaches from the smoke. I called to complain, but was told that they were in fact allowed to smoke IN the apartment, so there wasn't anything that could be done about it. Luckily for my family, our neighbors moved out after about 8 months. Our new neighbor was actually pretty amazing. Also, when we moved in, we noticed that the insulation in the apartment was lousy. The doors to the rooms had to stay open in order for any heat or air to get to them. Something was blocking the vents. I still have no clue what it was. It you put your hand up to the vent when the heat or air was on, you couldn't feel much blowing out. However, when you did get air to blow out, it was nasty. Some kind of dirt or leaves or something blew out of the vents. When we got ready to move out in Spring of 2014, we noticed all this dirt and dust in our cupboards, and all over everything. When I had my baby and he was first sleeping in his crib, I would go to put him down and noticed dirt on his sheets. It was just a few pieces of what looked like crumpled leaves here and there, so I would brush them off and not think much of it. After my son was 1 1/2 years old, he started getting sick every 2 weeks. He had ear infections at least once a month, sometimes more often. He was congested and would throw up quite a bit. We were at the Dr.'s or ER every 2 weeks like clock work. I was also sick every time he'd get sick. Come to find out, it was whatever was blowing out of our vents that was making us ill. Unfortunately, we didn't realize this was what was causing us to be sick until we were in the process of moving out. We also had a serious mice infestation. We noticed in October of 2012 that we had a mice problem. We thought it was one or two at most. We called the office and reported it. They told us they would call an exterminator and then maintenance would come check for holes. The exterminator came, but left 2 or 3 sticky traps that didn't work at all to catch the mice. No maintenance ever came. We continued to have problems with the mice. By this point, I had a child who was mobile, so I was having to sanitize everything every day. We spent several hundred dollars of our own money on traps. We caught/killed maybe 7 to 10 mice with our traps. My husband called several more times over the course of a year and the office just ignored us. Finally, the complex required us to remove everything from the master bedroom closet so they could install a new cable line. When we moved everything out, we discovered a sickening amount of mice droppings. I then proceeded to clean out the other 2 closets we had and found the same thing in each. It was a nightmare! We called the office again to report the problem and finally, they said they would send a new exterminator out once a week to set traps and bait for the mice. The exterminator came once. We called again later about something else and we were told that they "forgot" about sending him out once a week. Obviously, it wasn't their concern that we had such a huge mouse problem. We hadn't realized it was so bad either because the mice would come out at night when we were asleep. I took it upon myself to get a cat and to tape mouse traps all along the underneath of the kitchen cabinets on the ground, which is where the mice were getting in. We had to throw away probably $3000.00 worth of our property because it was damaged by the mice. We also had some things around the apartment that needed to be fixed. Our air conditioner needing to be fixed or replaced twice each year. I don't think they ever actually replaced it. They would patch it. The maintenance man came to fix it the last spring we lived in the apartment. It was at least 84 degrees inside our apartment when they finally showed up to fix it. As previously stated, I have a 2 year old, so it was way too hot inside for him. Something was leaking out of the air conditioner, so the maintenance man took it upon himself to take one of our tupper ware containers off our counter and use it to catch the water. Then, he used an entire roll of our paper towels that were out to clean up the water that had gotten on the floor. read more

I currently live in Drexel Brook Apartments, and I can not wait to move!!! I have lived in over 5 apartments, including college student filled ones, and I have NEVER experienced the amount of noise that I do now. The noise comes from one set of neighbors mix with the poor insulation of the building. Management has been close to no help. I was told that they pay their money (as if I don't pay to live here as well). I rarely will write a review about anything, but since I refer to them so often for myself, I figured I would save someone else some trouble as I'm sure I've been spared. I will be writing a final detailed review once I move. I will admit the apartment itself haven't been the worse, (although other reviews in regards to the bug issues isn't far fetched) but when you dread to come home, and have to wear ear plugs to get a half decent good night sleep, it's a problem. Seriously do your homework before signing the lease. read more

This place is not a good place to live. The bugs and mice are terrible. The courtyard that we lived in always had trash and glass on the ground. There is not enought parking. We had two parking lots and some nights I would have to park a block away. After a few years the maintenance department stop fixing things properly. A leak in a pipe broke the ceiling in my kitchen. They came out the next day and put a piece of plywood over the hole. That plywood was there for 7 months! We called every two days. Finally when I threatened a lawyer, they came to fix it, maintenance said the work order was never put in until that day! There is also terrible mold. It grows on the windowsills. Be prepared to scrub that each day. If you have kids watch out because they don't really like them playing in the courtyards. As I was told by the general manager when we were walking and riding bikes around the complex, that the local elementary school (5 blocks away) was the place to play and ride bikes. He told me it was a hazard for children to ride bikes around even with a parent there to watch them. My lease never stated that bikes were not allowed and that we would have to play at a playground and not in front of our townhouse. Drexelbrook rental office will tell you they are family oriented but obviously they are not. Beware before you rent here. read more

I lived at Drexelbrook from 2013 to 2016. I was impressed with the competitive price and the clean look of the apartment during the tour. During the 3 years I made some unpleasant observations. There was no dishwasher, no laundry in building, the walls were poorly insulated, noise levels were high, and the apartment had minor bug issues but a lot of mice. The maintenance and leasing office were good. The management office was the complete opposite. They made policy changes enacted to collect extra fees for serves that used to be free, and speaking with them was useless because they would insist they had no authority to make any decisions. Recently they began implemented random apartment inspections giving a week window from which they could stop by at anytime unannounced which became nerve racking considering the additional charges we had been facing. Overall apartment was decent for the price but I would not return due to the management. read more
