I'm only giving 2 stars instead of one bc the front desk staff was so nice about it. But I had made an appt a week ago online for the cheapest stylist they have bc I have a short bob and not paying crazy money for a trim. I put in the notes section of the comment what I was coming in for and booked it. I showed up day of, and I was told they put me with someone else bc the person I made the appt with was inexperienced. (Then why did they put her on the schedule for someone to choose? ) they said that they tried contacting me to let me know bc they didn't know what I wanted (it was in my notes section when I made the appt), and the person they put me with was 35$ more than the person i picked. From a tier 1 of 55$ to a higher tier person at 90$?! They were very polite about it and understanding when I said 90$ was too much for a trim on the back of my short hair, and I wasn't staying for it. But I don't think I'll be going back ever again. I'd rather go to a salon that does just as good for a more reasonable price. read more

A trim and blow dry was $70 and it took 20mins. I felt rushed and it wasn't styled the way I requested. It was a rush job, and I could have done better myself. I was then asked to tip the shampoo person and the tip choice was $6, $8, or $10. So the total was over $90 with tips. What should have been a good experience turned out to be very disappointing. Came to get my hair cut early on a Saturday morning. I had made a reservation online which was super simple. I was able to select the day, the time, and the stylist. I had not had my hair cut in almost a year and just needed a basic cut with no color or treatments. When I arrived for my appointment, the salon was very busy and lively! I was able to get right into my appointment and did not have to wait at all. Amber was great, she asked me exactly what I wanted, and verified the length as she was cutting. Great salon! I have been here once before for an elaborate braid for my daughter's Graduation photo shoot. I opted to get my hair done today since I will be surprising my husband with a mini getaway today after work. Everything was seamless and the last from scheduling my appointment online to having it confirmed and checking in upon arrival. The salon is beautiful, clean and the staff and stylists all seem to be very nice. There was a new girl at the front desk being trained and the manager training her was very nice and patient and I noticed explained things very well. I will definitely be back as I also appreciate that Aveda is a cruelty free and plant based company. read more

Booked online at 9pm for an appointment the next morning at 9am, which was approved 10 minutes beforehand. The hair cut was quick & staff was friendly. It was a bit overpriced in my opinion; trimmed with some layers (wash & dry) and it was $75. Their site said $45 when I booked but it didn't mention the blow was an additional $30. Overly good experience but unless you're doing something complicated I would opt for a cheaper option for simple trims. read more

We were greeted by friendly faces when we walked in and social distancing and masks were a priority. Autumn greeted my daughter and discussed her highlights and cut. When I came back to get my daughter, I could not believe how beautiful her hair looked! The highlights were amazing and my daughter was so happy. I had called to ask about pricing for blowout, they told me $30, i switched appointments and ended up with a new stylist however nobody explained the difference in pricing ! I arrived and had services done and went to pay! They charged me $45 plus $15 for long hair (I think this should be discussed before services are agreed to!) the reasoning was because this stylist was "a higher tier" (maybe a point to bring up when appointment was switched$ it blew my mind that a $30 blowout turned into $60! I would not have agreed to this! Once services were complete I had no option but to pay up! I was disgusted! I also had lip waxing and it felt like the lady was putting wax on my cheek in addition to upper lip, I mentioned it to her but she was just going so fast and laughing at me saying "wax doesn't make you grow hair!" Okay well WAX DOES MAKE YOU GROW HAIR AND NOW FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE I HAVE HAIR DOWNWARD TOWARDS MY CHEEK! Perhaps someone on "a higher tier" should at least have that much knowledge! I had been going to this salon for 8 years or so. Lately I have not been happy with the service . I feel like they were rushing and not happy with my hair. Then I was like just try one more time. I call to reschedule my appt. because of an emergency and they gave me attitude and asked for a deposit to reschedule I was so mad. After all the money I spent in this place and their work is not good and you treat me like that . No wonder you don't have q lot of customers. You need to update and train your employees the work has really gotten terrible.Everytime I went there were customers coming back to fix the work that the stylist messed up. I will never go back. I've always loved Aveda products and how much they care about the environment. The really do put forth an awesome conservation effort and I feel that they are helping to make a change. Kudos to Aveda! As far as Drew James salons go, they rock as well. I have only been to the Hollywood salon and can only comment on it. They finished remodeling a while back and it turned out beautiful. The salon is always clean and the staff is friendly, trained well and keep their appointments running on time. I use Nichole S. She is fabulous. She has been cutting my hair for years and does an amazing job. She knows what she is doing and understands how to cut and color your hair to fit your face and skin tone. I am always complimented on my hair. Thank you Nichole! One more thing to add. The owners are terrific! They are extremely generous by participating in events/fundraisers that Aveda has as well as outside organizations. Thank you for being such awesome folks. Go visit the salon. They rock! read more

I came in with virgin hair and was hopeful to leave with as close to the image I brought in of a hair model as possible. Amanda did a fantastic job highlighting my hair exactly as I requested. She eased my fears of having a color gloss instead of a clear gloss and she styled my hair well at the end. The scalp massage was amazing, too! Been going here for several years, I've seen two different stylists and both usually do a great job. This past time I went though, I got highlights and a haircut. I hadn't had highlights in a long time and was debating whether I should ask her to tone or not. I ended up not saying anything because some times I wait a week and tone it myself. I even have highlighted my hair with foil at home so I know the whole process. That being said after highlighting she washed my hair and went back for my haircut. She said she had another client book last minute and I could tell she was in a hurry. It took her about 15 minutes to do my hair. She rushed and didn't do a nice even job. I wanted her to do a little more with the layers but she said she had to go get her lunch before the next client. Anyways, I walk up front and get my bill if $180! I was thinking man they just have really raised their prices around here since last time I came. Anyway I went home and when I got home, I look at my receipt (should have done this at the salon but I was already upset about my hair and not thinking. I saw my hair was $55 ok and highlights $95 ok, then I saw some "color treatment" for $30. When I saw that I was even more mad because I felt they had tried to tack on an extra service that I didn't receive. So I called them and the lady who answered said it was the toner. I was thinking ok, she didn't tone, bc I know that process, she didn't do it and if she did she poured it on like shampoo and immediately washed it off, kinda a waste of $30, because I never sat in the chair for the amount of time you need to tone, plus there is a mirror across the way and you can see what the stylist is doing. I looked on YouTube the color treatment process and the people their in the demonstration were like waiting 8-10 minutes for toning and that def did not happen for me. Anyways, the receptionist checked with my stylist who said yes I got the toner, but if that's true, she should have at least gotten my consent for a $30 service, which she did not. It was never mentioned. Bc getting slammed with a surprised extra $30 does not make for a happy returning customer. Not a good business practice. I called the salon twice about this, but they seemed more concerned with keeping $30 than keeping a long term client and offering to make things right by either refunding me the $30 for a service that I didn't consent to and if the stylist did it, she was in a rush and didn't leave it in long enough to make it worth it. Or they could have offered me $30 off my next service. But no, nothing. At this point I just want to warn others to ASK UPFRONT about ALL SERVICES AND COSTS so you don't get hit with any surprises, no matter how long you've been going there. I've been going 4 years and first time this happened. I do not plan on going back. read more

Went to get my hair done highlights/lowlights, left the place looking like a leotard, call them they claimed they guarantee their work for seven days, make an appointment with the same stylist that did my hair, she attempted to correct what she did and I left the place the second time very unhappy, pissed off and disappointed, she didn't even bother to dry my hair. I got strands dyed and the hairdresser didn't bleach or dye my hair properly (my hair was red/orange after getting bleached) and said she wouldn't charge me since she made a mistake. I called to book another appointment to get my hair cut and turns out the hairdresser left a note to block me from coming back to the salon. Spoke to the owner about why I got blocked since I didn't do anything wrong and she had nothing to say. I bought a Groupon based on the fact that it's an Aveda salon and all the positive reviews. Man, was I disappointed! When I first walked in everything looked fine, I checked in at the front and my stylist came out and greeted me. We chatted about my haircut and she went to work. This session was torture. This is the most careless a professional has ever brushed my hair - it was as if she didn't have hair on her own head to know that slamming a brush on someone and roughly pulling it through tangles is very unpleasant. It was just as bad when she blew it out - at one point she even hit my head with a blow drier and didn't even apologize. The haircut was very rushed. We talked about layers, but I don't think that happened. After she was done blowing it out, I noticed how uneven it was...she mostly fixed it, but just to point out may have been better if she took the time to do it right the first time. The salon itself was not up to my expectations for Aveda. The lighting was poor and the salon overall looked like it needed a makeover. Finally, throughout my entire experience no one offered anything to drink. Not a glass of wine or coffee or even a water! I will not be going back. read more

I called this salon yesterday because I was interested in purchasing the deal they currently have on Yelp ($55 for "a custom consultation, stress-relieving scalp treatment, precision haircut, color/partial highlight and blow dry styling"). It's pretty much the same thing you'd get on Groupon and LivingSocial, and it's communicated as being all-inclusive. So I called to see if I could use it and pay the difference for a full-foil and the gentleman told me the deal was only a starting price and that any of the services might cost more depending on hair length, services, and the stylist used. Although I completely understand how salon's function (i.e. not all stylists cost the same, and services cost vary on hair length, etc.) the deal is advertised as being all inclusive, and says nothing in the fine print about the possibility of being charged more for longer hair or anything else. Perhaps the gentleman I spoke to was misinformed and the deal is in fact all inclusive, but he was far from helpful. He actually came off pretty short, and rude (great first impression right!?). So I won't be getting the Yelp deal, and I won't be trying this salon. It's really sad too because I just moved to South Florida and I need to find a new salon. That guy just cost the salon (and one of their stylists) 1 full foil, 1 hair cut, and a partial foil and trim every 8 weeks... plus the 20% in tips. read more
