Plus there have been new developments since my move so here we go: They do not handle your things with care at ALL. First, they didn't arrive prepared, so midway through they left for an hour to rent a dolly. I was annoyed but what was more annoying was them loading up heavy items and furniture onto it and then proceeding to drag them down 3 flights of CONCRETE stairs (SO sorry to my former neighbors). You would think they'd at least carry the box clearly labeled "glasses" and "fragile" by hand but no. While unloading things at my new place, I heard the glass rattling. When I asked if that was broken glass I heard, one of them SHOOK THE BOX and just said, "yeah." While they continued to move things I started unwrapping my glasses to look at the damage...over half of my glasses, champagne flutes and ALL of my mugs were broken. Many were custom, some were gifts. I was too frustrated to speak and completely over the entire day. They took $140 off and made sure to let me know how much of a favor they were doing me because they usually don't replace things they don't pack. I had a lot of those glasses for years, have moved them multiple times and never had any of my glasses broken. Like, ever. I would have let one or two slide, but once I started counting past 10, I was livid. Now, 3 months later I'm upset all over again as I'm discovering more damage. Today I moved my less than a year old sofa (basically new) around to find the severe damage done to the side after being dragged during the move. It looks AWFUL especially since it's a light colored couch. Plastic wrap can only do so much protecting. I had already seen the damage that was done to my dresser as a result of it being slammed down all those steps and I tried not to get too mad since I had it for a long time. But like, I just bought this. Upset is not the word. To add some bonus stress and frustration, when they loaded things into my second bedroom, they put the largest pieces of furniture in last with my vanity and futon blocking the door. I literally could not get all the way into the room...couldn't open the closet either. Wish I had pictures of that. If you value your things, pick somebody else because they certainly won't.

From Yelp, I requested the cost for the tinting and how soon I could have it taken care. Within less than 5 minutes, Dustin responded. After giving my cars details, I again had a response within minutes of the cost and willingness to get me in first thing on a Saturday morning. Although it was a 35-minute drive to their shop, Apex had the window tinted within less than 30 minutes and I was back on the road. I forgot to ask for a receipt, so I emailed Dustin with that request. Again, within minutes I had a text receipt for my records. The cost is very fair and the drive from Nashville/Franklin was worth it.

Recently, I just stopped in to inquire about having my front badge done (it's in a plastic case). He stepped outside to look at it, then just went on and did it. Because he took the time to do that, which I didn't expect, he saved me from having to make another trip for a 15 minute job. The last car they did is now 14 years old and the windows still look great!

I like Dr. Electric. I like listening to his weekly radio program. He obiously knows his stuff and…read moreis up front with people, so you might say I'm a fan - but I'm still going to shoot straight. I'm just going to preface this with I'm not an electrician (obviously) and I don't know what's 'common' in the industry. Pros: * Workers called ahead and were there about 20 minutes later. * The guys assessed the situation and made short work of adding a new flood light to a new location. * Total cost came in nearly dead on to Dr. Electric's verbal estimate. * Fair pricing and quick work. Cons: * Billing starts the minute the workers start driving your way. If they're 30 minutes away - you're paying for that time (This is called a "truck" charge (it's about $1 per min). I guess others might call this a "trip" charge. Maybe this is common practice, but you need to know about it going in and they don't disclose it over the phone. So make sure you're near Hendersonville (Dr. Electric HQ) or near their last job. * The Dr. Electric scheduling system leaves a bit to be desired. I tried scheduling my appointment about 5 days ahead. I was told by the owner they don't schedule that far ahead and to call back on Friday for a Saturday appointment. I called on Thursday (thinking it was Friday!) for an appointment the next day (Friday). On Thursday evening when I'd realized what I'd done I called to correct my error and schedule for Saturday morning. I was told Saturday morning was booked (wait, what happened to only booking a day ahead?) but they could get to me Saturday afternoon. I had a birthday party to go to so I asked about Monday afternoon. They booked it. On Monday afternoon no one had shown up, so I called and the owner forgot we had talked! I like these guys, but that was frustrating. Just seems like they're making it up as they go and writing it down on post it notes. Well he got some guys over pretty quick despite the mix up and those points are listed above in the Pros section. Overall I still like Dr. Electric. I would use them again, but the scheduling part was probably the biggest let down of the whole experience.

The irony of this business is my wife really liked the first guy who came out about a year ago to…read moredo some work. Though he was not very friendly at all he was competent and reliable. I thought he charged quite a bit but have not had to use an electrician for a while. Recently we needed some work so we called them but did not get the same gentleman we used in the past. Instead I got the owner (Joe) on the line. He said he happened to be just up the road so could swing by to take a look. I interpreted this as a friendly (no charge) drop in since he was down the street. He looked at the problem spending about 20 minutes and he also helped me take a look at a project we were doing in our garage. He was not able to fix the issue we needed fixed but said he would send someone out the next day. He was very friendly when he came out so did not expect any issues. The next day a young guy came out, was very nice and immediately found the problem. The problem was a GFI switch that was tripped in the crawl space under the house. Took him all but 10 minutes to fix it. He even wondered out loud why the owner did not fix this the previous day when he was here. This guy told us he had to charge $125 for a full hour even if he was only there 10 minutes so my wife asked him to replace a few switches which he did and all was done very well. The issue came when he "wrote up" the bill. He left the house to go to his truck to write up the invoice and came back. I used a credit card so just handed it to him to swipe on his handheld machine; he did not warn me that the quote was not more than double. When I looked at the receipt I saw a nearly $300 charge that I had just paid for! I thought for sure he made a mistake as the invoice said " 2 hours" for that same day. When I asked him about this he said his boss told him (when he was in the truck) to charge me for his hour the previous day . Keep in mind he offered to drop by saying he was just up the street, and, in my opinion, he could have easily repaired the problem the prior day but instead told him he would send someone out the next day. He never said anything about charging me for his drop in and the young guy the next day never told me up front he was gonna charge my card for more than double the quote and the understood charge. I called the owner who insisted he needed to be paid for his time the prior day. This was the owner. He did help me look at the work going on in my garage so I let it go but I will never ever use this company again. I hope they are happy to get the extra $150 or so cause it cost them an otherwise happy customer and also one who will never recommend them.
