The check-in person was super welcoming and told me about some of the other dance formats offered there. This dance studio caters to both children and adults. So you will see kids running around, which is ok, but I am not really used to. The class started on time. The instructor had great energy and encouraged us to have fun and do things our own style. I haven't been dancing in a while, so I knew it would be a good challenge for me. I really had a lot of fun. My only surprise is that the classes are only 60 mins. I think they ought to be 70 minutes to include a proper 5 min warm-up and 5-minute cool-down. There wasn't a lot of warming up in the beginning of this particular class. I've taken adult dance classes for years and I am used to something that include some warm-up movements to get the rotating joints going, like neck rolls, shoulder rolls, and hip and lower back movements. The class did include a relaxing cool down with stretching for the lower body and upper body. I plan to take more Hip-Hop style classes. They offer Cardio Hip-Hop, Beginner Hip-Hip and more advanced levels, Sensual Dance, Twerk, Ballet, Shuffle, Street Jazz and a lot more. I plan to try about 5 more formats and sign-up for one class for the summer session. I highly recommend this place!

What I loved so much about AAD is their commitment to not only developing her technique and performance as a dancer, but also building great character. AAD promotes and participates in many fantastic organizations like Darby's Dancers, Traveling Tutus, and Dance Hope Cure. My daughter is beginning her third year with the studio's competition team and it's been such a wonderful experience. I have been attending Arthur Murray Ashburn for about 4 months now. There are 3 main reasons I…read morethink people come in: 1. They want to be able to dance at a wedding or event ($) 2. They want to be able to dance well anywhere ($$) 3. They want to become an expert dancer and compete against others. ($$$) I am in the second category, and I expect to take about a year's worth of dances. This is not inexpensive. If you just want to come in for a few lessons (#1, above) you can get out without a whole lot of money. I do feel like I am getting my money's worth, though. My private lesson is once per week (or more, if my instructor and I want to), but I can still come in every other night of the week for Group Lessons at no additional charge. Group classes really help and I encourage them (so do they). With that out of the way, let me say that the studio is completely above-board and great to deal with. My biggest concern was that I would "lose" a lesson. As in "I can't make it Tuesday night." "Oh, ok, well, that lesson still counts against you." That has never happened, and I am convinced now it won't. I have faith in management and I don't at all feel like they are trying to play a game with me and my money. Quite the contrary, everyone there is great to work with. By the way, I come in alone and dance with my instructor. They are fine with that. If you come in with your SO, you two can dance and the instructor will help out. No matter what, they will work with you. The instructors are terrific, and I really like all of them. They know what they are doing, they are fun, and I would recommend any and all of them. So this is a long review, but let me sum up by saying that I highly recommend this studio. If you stick around after the intro lessons for the Bronze 1 program, it won't be cheap, but you will really come away with some serious dance skills. Stop procrastinating and learn to Salsa! (or some other, lesser dance) :)
