7/18/26. Drakes Abigail Q Burger Week Day 7 We went to Drakes Hurstbourne on Saturday for Burger Week & Brunch. We weren't able to go on Sunday so we went early enough for my husband to enjoy a Breakfast Quesadilla, his favorite! We arrived at the restaurant right before the rain started. The hostesses at the front door are always so pleasant and I'd also like to mention them and I met Courtney also. Told her I had enjoyed the French Dip Burger on the first day of Burger Week and that I wanted to end the week with coming back to Drakes Hurstbourne again to celebrate Burger Week one more time. When we placed our orders with Abigail, that was my choice. I asked her to hold the onions. It was so good. Abigail was fantastic and checked back on us so frequently. My husband's quesadilla was very filling and he had 2 sections left over for Breakfast so she brought us refills and to go boxes. I also ordered a Breakfast Burrito to eat on Sunday. Stopped in while visiting the area. This establishment is top notch from service to food. We all ordered different things and spent the time swapping around food. Big spacious restaurant with tons of TVs and a ton of menu options. We were seated pretty quickly, even though they were busy. I got the 6 oz sirloin and California roll combo. The sirloin was well flavored and properly cooked, but a little bit tough. The sushi was ok. The real star of the show were the sweet potato waffle fries, which were absolutely delicious, fresh, and hot. Overall, I liked (but did not love) Drake's. read more

The crab Rangoon roll and the fish tacos were very good. Both were tempura style. The tacos were plentiful. However, the roll was good but I was hoping for something a little more substantial as the meal. As an appetizer it would be great. Had a great time yesterday sitting at the bar opening up to the fresh air on a beautiful day outside for lunch. The bartender made me feel very welcome, giving alcoholic and non-alcoholic options right away and then, per my asking, excellent recommendations for food. He also was friendly and we enjoyed chatting during my stay. I had a delicious zero-proof blackberry sangria. I took up his recommendation to get the current burger special: one's choice of two or three jalapeno popper sliders. They were very rich and reminded me more of crab Rangoon. Still, I was delighted that he explained that these burgers are developed by workers nationwide at Drake's and then voted for by them in a contest of what should be on the menu. The burgers were very good, a little rich for my taste; what really stood out to me was the California Cobb Salad which he recommended I get as a side salad (a possibility without the chicken). I sat at the bar on a Saturday night recently. I ordered a glass of wine and two burgers to go. I waited an hour for the to go order. No one checked on me and when I inquired about the order, I was told it was on the way. This is an unacceptable amount of time to wait for an order. read more

We placed a takeout order and the to go crew was friendly, but we were missing the requested utensils. The food was not so great. I ordered a queso burger with a side of mac. There was only queso on the edge of my burger, which was irritating, but salvageable because we ordered extra queso. The mac and cheese was awful though. I have had it in house, but this wasn't even comparable. I was expecting it to be baked, but instead it was watery and overly seasoned. It tasted like strained/thinned queso with shell noodles, nothing like what I have had when dining in. I'm not sure if this is standard for to go mac and cheese sides, but it was absolutely awful and there was no clear warning when ordering that it would be modified for to-go. To shed some light on this less than stellar visit, my partner got the slider burgers with a side fry and they were done just fine. The to go team also packaged the order well and was running out multiple orders at once in the snow. This experience dissuades me from ordering from this location in the future, which is frustrating with it being such a close option. read more

The mini juicy Lucy burgers were very tasty. As was the huge burger with an egg on it. Of course a fork and knife came in handy. This meal would have been a 5 if the fries had been tastier. They were good but rather generic. A good Cajun or hot seasoning would help them a lot. And Drakes has a pretty decent beer selection. The Sierra Nevada Pale Ale hit the spot. Stopped in after my shift on Halloween evening - to avoid late trick-or-treaters in the neighborhood. Had a couple of beers and a snack. Voted on best pumpkin. Enjoyed the company if my fellow attendees at the bar and a really sweet bartender - Grace. Voted for HER pumpkin. Nice couple of hours of peace and grown ups. After the Cards game, we decided to visit Drake's after having issues at White Castle. It was a sign to eat better food anyway. Ha! I first mentioned that I'm Deaf to the server. She replied, "No worries. I understand, and I will work with you." I lip-read, but that can lead to misinterpretation and clarity. A notepad and pencil work best unless I come across someone who knows ASL at a conversational level. Next, we ordered hamburgers and French fries--Dad's favorite food. We went to Drake's on Hurstbourne late afternoon on 10/29/25 and my wife and I seated ourselves in a booth next to the rear bar. We waited for quite a while and no one ever came to or spoke to us and we were passed by as many as eight servers. One server in particular was serving both booths of each side of us but never spoke to us. We decided to move over to a booth on the other side of the bar. We had the same service problem. I flagged down a manager, Olivia, and she immediately jumped into recover mode. She took our drink and food order. She was awesome and really took care of us. Olivia even gave us a discount off our check. We had a free dessert because it was my wife's birthday month. Olivia wrapped that all up for us. We had a party of 13. Our waitress, Grace (who reminds me of Jennifer Lawrence), had only been working there for a week. She and the kitchen, did an amazing job. I got the fish tacos, they were wonderful. I tried a virgin patio punch...yum. Grace really was so sweet and had a great sense of humor. I can't say enough. We will back there again soon. On a recent beautiful Saturday afternoon, we took our son out to dinner as a way to say "thank you" for a project he helped us with around our home. We visited the Drake's at 2651 Hurstbourne Parkway (our sons choice). We ordered the pretzel & cheese appetizer ($12.99). Our son had the triple double mini cheeseburgers with fries ($14.99). Our son also ordered the boneless buffalo bites ($12.99) my hubby got the crab Rangoon roll ($12.99) & I had the chicken quesadilla ($15.99). Everything was delicious!!! I tried one of the boneless buffalo bites & they weren't so spicy that they burned your mouth. My chicken quesadillas were the best I've probably ever had! I took more than half of them home because it was a lot of food. I had 1/2 of one of the pretzels & it was good as well. My son & husband went on about the crab Rangoon rolls. They both said they were the best they'd had in a long time. We all left there stuffed & each had a "to go" box to have a snack later. We had pretzel, quesadillas & the crab rolls leftover. My hubby & I warmed up the left over quesadillas the next day for lunch. We sat in the bar area when dining, they had the overhead doors open because it was so nice outside. It was extremely nice, except for the flies. That's the risk you take though when you're either eating outside, or someplace that the doors are open & there's food aroma in the air, you're going have flies. Our only issue was that one of them landed in my hubby's drink. He took it to the bartender & showed her there was a fly in his drink. She told him she would let our waiter know. When our waiter returned he asked if my hubby wanted another drink (he really only wanted what was left in his original glass). At first they charged my hubby for an extra drink, when I brought it to another individual's attention, they removed the replacement drink off of our bill. My hubby only took one drink of his replacement before we left. Our bill totaled $90 (before tip) which is pricy for 3 people, however it was definitely worth it, for the assistance our son gave us, as well as all of the delicious food we had for dinner, & then for snacks, & lunch the next day. We will definitely return, the next time we will likely split a meal to save some money. All in all it was a nice Saturday evening out with great food & awesome company! read more

We went to Drakes last week on Tuesday night. It wasn't a long way to get in. The ambience was fun and exciting. I enjoy Drake's atmosphere. The service was top-notch. Our waitress was a pleasant person I brought is our food. And the food was pretty darn good as well. I got the chili and my wife got chicken sandwich and both were pretty darn good. Drake's hits the spot for so many things - when I'm in the mood for burgers, sushi or drinks with friends. This was our first visit at the Hurstbourne location because it's a family favorite. There was a crowd so we put on our name on the list and we received a text when our table was ready. This gave us time to visit Staples nearby and come back! Mini cheeseburgers are so good. Drake's does an awesome smash burger. You get a side and our fave is the crinkle fries. Plenty of beers on tap plus cocktails. Love their cucumber gin drink! My friends and I are a big fan of Drake's and find ourselves here pretty often. I was so happy to hear about a Hurstbourne location, as it is so much more convenient based off of where we live. As far as comparison with the other Drake's locations in St. Matthews and the Summit, everything feels about the same. The one similarity they all definitely have is that they are always busy! Thankfully though, this location's space and parking area is a bit easier to get in with crowds, so that is a nice perk. read more

So, full disclosure, Drake's is our go to date night place. We've tried Harry's and Malone's but Drake's is definitely our favorite of the 3 restaurants. We go at least once a month. I'd be lying if I told you that we had not had a bad experience or two on some of our visits. We've had bad service a couple of times and luke warm food a couple of times. With that stated, 99% of the time we go to Drake's we can always expect amazing service and a great selection of food. The service at Drake's is attentive, friendly, and never short handed. I'm always impressed to see other servers helping their colleagues by running food while it's hot. It seems like such a simple concept and yet it rarely happens. Drake's seems to have some sort of formula that encourages servers and staff to work together. I've worked in the restaurant business and I can tell you that it's rare to not have tons of drama behind the scenes. They seem to have great retention too because I always see familiar faces. Moving to the food selection, I have never had trouble finding something. In fact, I usually have to debate between different meals. They have delicious sushi, steak, salads, burgers, chicken, appetizers, burgers of the month, and so much more. The runners make sure the food comes to the table hot most of the time and I have rarely had to deal with soggy fries. I HIGHLY recommend Drake's if you're looking for a date night hang out. read more

Silly us, went 15 minutes before UK was going to play. However, we were seated within five minutes outside as we wanted. Our appetizer was very slow coming out. Our server, Matt, was very aware and kept us abreast of what was happening in the kitchen. As the time turned on, manager Will came out to check on us and apologize also. The menu has a lot to choose from and quite a mix. We ended up ordering a couple sushi rolls and the pretzel appetizer. The pretzels were good - nothing special. They serve them with cheese and yellow mustard. I would have preferred a honey mustard - the yellow was too overpowering, but the cheese was good. The sushi was a pleasant surprise. Definitely not the best, but enjoyable. The service was a little slow, but we weren't in a rush. Pleasant servers. They have some outdoor seating as well. Finally tried the new location for Drake's! I stopped in for lunch hoping they'd have an awesome lunch deal - but not the case. A server didn't show to my table for over 10 min. I wasnt too upset since I was trying to figure out what to eat anyway. I decided on the mini juicy lucy burgers and my friend had nigiri. The food arrived in a decent amount of time. The burgers and sweet potato fries were delicious. The burger had so many complex flavors between the cheese, bacon, and aoili. I couldn't finish my meal so the portion size was great. They may be called mini but I'd say they're pretty big! Our server rarely came to the table and was lacking in personality. We had to find our own napkins and we overhead other tables asking as well. We were shocked to see how close the tables were to each other. Definitely not adhering to any spacing guidelines for Covid. I'm not sure I'll be in a hurry to come back here. This place has the best appetizers, and I was pleasantly surprised by their sushi as well! Their cocktails are super reasonably priced and probably some of the most unique and best tasting ones I've had! The staff is amazing as well. At one point, we were ordering carry out or dining in once a week. I love Drakes. The place is really nice but it gets really crowded making the wait times long. I think they do a really great job with carry out. I think the bar seats are very uncomfortable on the backside so we like to get a booth or short table outside when the deck is open. Their food is stellar. I have tried a little of everything across their menu. My go to is the chicken teriyaki bowl. It's gotten to the point where I crave it some days. We have tried BLT tots where they give you a healthy portion to share. I've tried burgers, tacos, tenders, fries, and sandwiches. They are all good. What keeps me coming back is the price. It is so cheap! I think as long as management keeps doing whatever they're doing and the ingredients stay fresh, we will be regulars as long as we live close. read more

My husband and I decided to eat here before catching a movie. We got seated at one of the high top tables. Drakes is pretty causal. I love their pixy stick Martini. It was delicious as always. My husband and I both got burgers. Their burgers were good. Service was ok. One of the waitresses dropped a plate. I get it accidents happened. My issue is that no one cleaned it up. The dish was dropped at least 20 minutes before we left and the floor was still dirty when we left. Visitors and staff were walking through the mess. Definitely a slip/fall hazard. My husband and I frequent Drakes when we get a date night. It's easily one of our favorite places. We love the food and we always have great service. tonight was exceptional. Our servers name was Anna and her attitude, happiness and all around attentiveness was incredible. you could very clearly see that she loved her job and loved to be around people. if you ever visit this place, ask for her! We go to this drakes ALOT. This experience was the worst. A party of 17 decided to wait for their table at the bar. They over took 2 tables while waiting. We moved our table 2 times to make room while they waited because they were leaning and stealing our seats while waiting. One dude was so close he was hitting me. So we asked the manager if he could do something about it. He said " move tables" This party was taking over the dining area. It was ridiculous. The manager doesn't care about anyone except large parties. People and staff were complaining about this party. The worst experience at this Drake's. read more

Service was ok, we were there to have a nice night out, uncommon for us these days. We sat at the bar and didn't expect the same service a table might have, but we did frequently go long periods without check ins. We had the slider burgers, juicy lucy style. This was all well made and came out as request. My date had the filet and chicken tenders. Filet was requested medium but came out very well done. We attempted to catch the attention of one of the very busy bartenders, but after 10 minutes of waiting just opted to eat it. I ordered a hurricane cocktail and the first was very well made. So much so that I requested a refill but unfortunately the two cocktails tasted nothing alike. After again attempting to get my bartender for awhile we just opted to have it removed off our bill and left. It was okay for a casual night out but I feel that they have more seats for patrons that they can actually serve. All the staff I encountered were speedy and polite. read more

I enjoyed this location. Extremely spacious with ample parking. Also easy to get to as it is located between two stoplights. I was quickly sat. The bartenders were extremely friendly and made an excellent Old Fashioned. I ordered chili and French fries. The chili was good but the French fries were perfectly salted and cooked with the exact crisp I preferred and their aioli is fire! I will return. read more
