Where do I start? If you are looking for a company that still has old fashioned family values & service, Drake Heating & Air is for you! It started in December 2022 when we didn't have heat. For 18 years we have dealt with Stevenson & Sons (Service Experts). They put in our HVAC system. We called them to come an assess the problem. Not only did the Tech show up but also someone to sell me a system. We decided to get a second opinion, we called Drake Heating & Air. Glad we did! Not only did the tech access the situation but also made sure that we had heat while awaiting the part needed to repair the system. Not trying to sell us a system. March 2023. We arrived home from a trip and had no heat, called Drake. Josh P. came out the next day, assessed the situation, determined we had three options. No pressure involved, just talked over the options, answering questions & gave us as much information needed to make an informed decision. Loved that he was not in a hurry! Not only did he want us to be informed but wanted to make sure that we were comfortable with our decision. How refreshing! We decided to go with a new HVAC system (our current one was 11 years old) with a better warranty and 1/3 the price of what Stevenson had offered to lease us one for 10 years. Jason S & his team installed our new Rheem system. They took their time, answered all of our questions and left the space better than they found it. Clean, neat and organized! Wow, what a difference. No high pressure, attention to detail, clean up after themselves. I am impressed also that the technicians take extensive notes & pics on work completed so that the next technician knows exactly what was done. As a customer we were treated with respect, no high pressure tactics, and informed regarding our new system & how to operate it. This is a company that we like to do business with! Very challenging experience with them. They are very accommodating scheduling appts. But most times, they won't arrive until their last service call of the day and you really needed them out in the morning. My a/c condenser's motor seized ( very hot the past few days) as I was able to troubleshoot that myself after replacing the outside fuses and capacitor. I had the whole thing apart when the technician arrived and he proceeded to tell me that " I took this too far" as he needed to troubleshoot the problem. I told him the fan motor seized and that was the problem. He immediately grabs his tablet and quotes me 800+ for the new motor plus installation. I figured this service call would probably run me 1,000, maybe more. I told him I already replaced the capacitor and didn't need that and he could take that off the price. He told me they don't discount their prices and basically told me that there are others charging more for their services than them. I felt like this was border line criminal charging a customer 1,000 for a 150.00 motor and that is the retail price. He told me that if I didn't like it, he could just stop, pack up, and leave. I told him to leave and I would get the replacement motor myself. He didn't care and packed up and left. Gouging the public basically because you can get away with it is wrong. I replaced the fan myself, took me 10 minutes to install it and everything is back to normal. I know I'm fortunate to be able to do this myself but for others that can't, I feel bad for them and have to get price gouged like that. Please be aware of this in the future. read more

I scheduled a service call 2 1/2 weeks ago for 3/16/2021 between 10:00-2:00. No one showed up so I called and they informed me that they had tried to call me in the morning to reschedule. I asked what phone numbers they tried and was shocked that they had called old phone numbers that were no longer in service. When I asked why they hadn't requested my numbers to update my account, they said the person that took the call was off sick and they couldn't ask her. I assumed that they took my phone number off their caller I'd cause I was never asked what my phone number was. They did verify the address though. I cancelled the service call as if their techs work like the receptionist, I don't want them working on my furnace, even though they installed the unit. read more

Hi I'm Rob.Drake come to my house 10 years ago and told me my heat exchanger was broke and the new furnace was about 4500$.they done a repair and said it wouldn't last long.cost about 150.00.then didn't seem like much heat was coming out of the vents so I got a tip on a furnace guy that would look at it.he said the heat exchanger wasn't broke but he said Drake's workers turned down the blower so at some point I would call them back for a new furnace.so checked it out replace a switch then turned down the blower for less air/ heat.crooks period. read more

Over the years, we had several bad interactions with a local Oxford heating/cooling/plumbing company that was unable to repair a simple bleach injector pump. When our geothermal system started to act up- we figured it would be way out of their league. We saw tons of good reviews for Drake everywhere else but Yelp and gave them a try. The people from Drake evaluated our Geothermal system and came up with a reasonable fix that saved us tens of thousands of dollars in not needing to purchase a new system. When a company could either sell you a $20,000 new system or fix the old for about $1,000 and they go out of their way to get the parts for the $1,000 fix- you bet that we like them!! Drake checks up on us twice a year to make sure the system is working as it should, We will never go anywhere else. read more

It was finally time to replace our 24 year old HVAC system. After getting 5 estimates we chose Drake. All of the companies we looked at were pretty close in price. It came down to the professionalism from Drake. The salesperson was no nonsense. I like someone who is direct and not constantly trying to close the deal. The unit was installed and the installers were excellent. They kept their work area clean, took care of my property and really appreciated our business. I highly recommend Drake. read more

I would give them zero stars, if I could. And I should say that I'm writing this review on behalf of my grandparents, because they don't quite understand how the internet works. My grandparents' air conditioning went out last summer and they called Drake because they'd seen their vans around town. Drake came and told them that the problem required a completely new air conditioning unit (they have central air). They'd set an appointment for Drake's people to come back and install a new unit, and told me that they were upset because Drake couldn't get back to set it up until the next week (keep in mind, this is the middle of August and my 75-year-old grandparents are living without AC). I was surprised to hear that a five-year-old unit needed to be replaced, and suggested that they call someone else before spending the money with Drake. Sure enough, the second opinion confirmed my suspicions. Twenty-five dollars, and three hours later, a small repair had restored their AC. To make matters worse, when my grandparents decided to seek a second opinion they called Drake as a courtesy to let them know to hold off on ordering the replacement unit. Upon receiving the information that my grandparents may have been taking their business elsewhere, Drake immediately cut back on the price and said they could install the unit sooner than previously quoted. Maybe this was just a response to competition, but given how drastically Drake misdiagnosed the problem, I fear their reaction was less innocuous. read more

Installed new heater and Owner/Salesman SWORE to contact him first if any issues came up that he could answer questions and resolve issues because he values his reputation. As we had always used edenpure heaters before, we just started using our Propane heater. However, when the furnace kicked on, it would always leave a LOUD BANG sound that seemed a bit too excessive for any heater I have ever heard kick on. I would also go into the utility room to watch the heater as I would manually turn it on and it appeared that the pilot flame would flare out too far into the enclosed furnace cabinet. I sent the owner/salesman an email to question if this was actually supposed to be normal for this heater as when I called the main office to report this, they required an $89 service call just to come and HEAR the furnace kick on and see the flame as it does, when the owner lives in my neighborhood. I understand normal service charges, but again, the guy lives right in my neighborhood, can just stop by to just LISTEN to see if it was indeed too loud/flaming too far and then have a technician come from there, and at least a bit more modest of a fee when it was only to answer that simple question. But the owner did not even reply to my email with an opinion on if there should be a loud bang and if the pilot flame should extend all the way out to the cabinet edge when kicking on. Would have saved me $89 just to answer a simple question before even trying to troubleshoot or do any repair work. This same A$$hole even woke me up one day (as I work night shift) coming to my house unannounced wanting to test drive my personal van that was not for sale because he was thinking of getting one himself. I was courteous and cooperative with him, but now that I only needed a reply to my email with an opinion before paying a service charge for something so simple to verify, he is no where to be found. TYPICAL SALESMAN. So be careful, you get window dressing service when it is still convenient for them and they need something for you, but they do not deliver on their commitment to work things out when they feel they have nothing left to loose. Finally, the technician that was to come out never even came out in the morning like they claimed he would, but later in the afternoon when I had to tend to another appointment and could not wait any longer without calling to update their delay first. read more

I had drake install a central a/c system in my new house as it were being built. I happened to be there watching while the drake installer was finishing soldering the copper pipes together, he then turned on the unit to check to see it worked. I asked him when was he going to charge the system with refrigerant and he replied that he never had to do that before? The a/c never did impress me. The a/c unit always froze up after running for about 1 hour. When I complained to drake they told me I needed to have them install a dehumidifier inside the unit. I never did have them install the dehumidifier. After a couple of years of frustration with the unit and no response from drake I called another service company. Their tech diagnosed the problem as low or no refrigerant! I then explained to the tech that drake never charged the system with refrigerant, he was amazed, he then charged the system and I have not had anymore problems with the a/c. Another thing drake installers did wrong was when cutting out the rectangular holes in the floor for the vent they cut a hole in the wrong place. They didn't tell the home builder about it, they just put the plywood piece back in place and tacked it in position with small screws. Later when we placed furniture in the house after carpet had been installed a bed post just happened to be placed over the patch in the floor and the floor gave way causing the bedpost to rip a hole in the carpet as it fell through the floor. It was easy to see what had happened when inspecting the hole from the basement. When I confronted drake the installer did admit to cutting the hole in the wrong place, but drake refused to make any of it right. I recommend that you stay clear of Drake heating and air, go anywhere else. read more
