Garden Music School

Garden Music School

Horizons West / West Orlando

**UPDATE** I received a PROMPT call regarding this situation from Tatiana who runs Garden Music…read moreSchool. She was very quick to apologize for the situation and was happy to refund the charges. As I stated in the first review, Tatiana has been nothing but awesome to work with! I am leaving the initial review of the teacher, but want to let everyone know they are very customer service oriented. Also, be aware that they will charge monthly because it is NOT a monthly service, it is a yearly service that they charge for each month. It is slightly confusing that they advertise as monthly prepaid lessons with no contract. However, benefit of the doubt is I may have misunderstood this. I would recommend Garden Music as long as you speak to/sit in with your student for a lesson or two, to ensure the teacher/student are a good fit for each other. We just moved to Florida and we're looking to pick up drum lessons again after a year long hiatus. We signed up for lessons with Marcus. After the first 30 minute session he spoke to me about my son as if he was a delinquent who wasn't practicing drums and took it as a personal affront to himself. We came back even though my son said he didn't like him (should have known then). After the second 30 minute lesson Marcus came outside and proceeded to yell (and I do mean YELL) at my son and launched into a bitter diatribe about how my son is sour, is undisciplined, unmotivated, not college bound (odd???) and that he was going to drive away the people in his life (what??). I sat in disbelief listening to a 21 year old utterly tear down a 14 year old (with a learning disability) and could not believe he was still employed as I highly doubt this was the first time he has displayed such behavior. My son was in tears the whole way home (40 minute drive). I felt horrible for my son and have never witnessed a teacher behave this way. My son wants to play for enjoyment, not for a career. As a teacher myself I know the key to creating motivation is a mix of encouragement and critique. However, this approach and the personal offense Marcus took to my son (who is still learning) and his music ability was appalling and we will not be returning. I'm sure the owner (who is very kind) and the other teachers are great but I would not recommend this teacher! **UPDATE** I was charged for lessons for another month, which I did not authorize! Despite being told there is no contract and lessons are paid monthly...I was charged for lessons I did not request! Do not give this place your credit card information.

This is hands down the best Guitar Center I've ever been to... and I've been to many over the…read moreyears. I bought a guitar from a Guitar Center in California that was pictured with a tremolo bar, but it didn't ship with one. The original store said they'd send it, but it never showed up. What truly impressed me was how this location handled it. Holden and Steve were absolutely outstanding. Even though the issue wasn't their fault in the slightest, they were incredibly kind, professional, and genuinely apologetic. They didn't brush me off or make excuses--instead, they went all out, searching high and low through the store to find a tremolo bar that would fit my Jazzmaster. When they ultimately couldn't find a compatible one, they made it right by giving me a $30 store credit to cover the cost. That kind of ownership, effort, and customer care is rare these days. Holden and Steve represent customer service at its absolute best. Because of them, this location has earned my loyalty, and I'll be coming back here for all my future music needs. Highly recommend this Guitar Center, especially if you're lucky enough to work with them. Thank you Holden and Steve!

They don't offer everything you would see at a Guitar Center or Sam Ash but what they do offer is an exceptional selection of guitars, Basses, ukuleles, mandolins, tube and solid-state amps, effects pedals, instrument accessories and more. They carry mostly Fender, Squire, Taylor, Martin, PRS, and Reverend guitars. They literally have one wall filled with Taylor and Martin guitars, another one filled with PRS, and a third all Fender, its pretty awesome. If you are a die hard for any of these brands, I highly recommend stopping in to check them out. I always wanted a Fender Telecaster but after seeing the Reverend Eastsider they had, I am willing to reconsider, that thing was sick! Staff were super friendly and welcoming. I struck up a conversation with Grayson, one of the store associates and he informed me they also give lessons on a variety of instruments. Pricing is $30 for a half hour and $60 for an hour lesson, which is pretty much the going rate. I could hear one of the piano teachers playing Bohemian Rhapsody in the background and she was great. The store is well kept, clean, and orderly. Although the store has been here for a while now, everything looks like it is in like new condition. All of the guitars are kept clean from dust and staff maintains everything very well., Good job! I really wanted to support the store even though I didn't need anything, so I bought a pack of strings and a PRS keychain pick holder, and now that I have been using it daily, I cannot live without it. Thank you for the recommendation, Grayson. If you happen to be in the area and love music shops and want to support local, I highly recommend checking out R & R Guitars.
