Kings Court is a banquet/reception hall located next door to Nan King Chinese Restaurant. Presently (late Aug 2010/early Sept 2010), Kings Court is offering promotional buffets open to the public on Thursday night (starting at $7.95) & Friday night ($14.95 seafood) and for Sunday Brunch ($11.95). I spotted an ad in the local edition of the Telegraph and decided to try out the Sunday Brunch which is offered 9AM-1PM. There were also coupons for buy one buffet, get one half off (Thurs & Sun only).
I get here around 12:05PM and I'm seated immediately next to the good sized breakfast buffet spread. The banquet hall is fully carpeted with high ceilings, several tables, a full cocktail bar, and the buffet area. Light rock music was playing over the speakers.
The brunch buffet setup had several tables with heated buffet trays (scrambled eggs, bacon, thick sausage links, hash, beans, French toast, pancakes, blueberry pancakes, waffles, hot syrup, eggs benedict, raspberry crepes, grilled homefries, shredded hash browns, BBQ beef ribs), dessert table, carving station (roast beef & ham), made to order omelets (fill out slip of paper at table), shrimp cocktail, and juice & milk, assorted cereal, muffins, pastries, and fresh fruit.
I'm offered a beverage after I'm seated (I order coffee) and fill out my slip of paper for a custom made egg beaters omelet with everything for the waitress to give to the omelet cook. However, the omelet cook informed me that they ran out of egg beaters and he substituted egg whites instead. The omelet was delivered to my table fresh out of the pan, an egg white omelet folded with lots of crispy bacon, sausage, ham, onions, peppers, cheese, broccoli, tomato, & mushrooms, which was very good and filling and had the smell of a stir fry, nicely done.
The hot buffet items for the most part were decent and standard buffet breakfast fare. The potatoes tasted salty, the beef ribs were dry and chewy, hash & beans piping hot, and the pancakes, French toast, & crepes were moist and surprisingly not dried up like at other buffets I've been to. The peel and eat medium sized shrimp were already deveined, cocktail sauce on the side. I tried some desserts which included strawberry cheesecake, lemon meringue pie, apple pie, and coconut cream pie, very sweet for my taste.
The service was very laid back and someone would come around occasionally to clear used plates. My server did come around a few times with more coffee, which I definitely needed. I had only one paper napkin for the entire visit and was not given anymore napkins which would've been useful. Anyways, the food was very filling and I was satisfied with the buffet.
