When we moved to the area over 10 years ago, he immediately earned our trust by taking such tender, thoughtful care of our senior pets. When it came time to say goodbye to them, the compassion and empathy he and his staff showed us will stay with us forever. Last year, we experienced the heartbreaking loss of our 2 1/2 year old Doberman. Dr. McMillan once again went above and beyond, guiding us with care, taking time with us, and helping us through the grief. To this day, they still talk about him. That kind of connection and remembrance is something you cannot put a price on. Dr. McMillan is not just a vet. He is a caregiver who truly knows his patients and their humans. He remembers names, answers every question without rushing, calls personally with updates, and ensures we are always prepared, especially when traveling with our pets. For him, it is never about the money. It is about the life, comfort, and longevity of the animals he treats. There are plenty of veterinarians closer to where we live, but we gladly drive over 35 minutes each way to see Dr. McMillan. We simply would not trust our pets with anyone else. Dr. Megan Caiazzo was able to remove the shoe from my puppy's stomach, and Dr. Jennifer Stafford performed his endoscopy. I am so grateful for their expertise, skill, and dedication in helping my little one through such a scary situation. When your beloved pet is sick or in danger, you are putting their life in someone else's hands, and that is a tremendous responsibility. Dr. Caiazzo and Dr. Stafford demonstrated the kind of specialized knowledge, professionalism, and care that every pet owner hopes to find in an emergency veterinary team. As a pet parent, there is nothing more heartbreaking than seeing your little one suffer and feeling helpless to fix it. The way things were presented caused a lot of panic for us, and we felt pressured to agree to services we believe our dog did not need totaling over 2k. When we raised our concerns afterward, the response felt dismissive and condescending, and the hospital declined to offer any refund or compensation. We also learned our conversations during the visit were recorded. Everything in my gut told me to take my dog home that day. I wish I had listened. If you are referred here for any procedure, I would encourage you to ask exactly what type of visit it is, what you will be charged, and whether you are being treated as an emergency patient before agreeing to anything.

The staff is just phenomenal. One time my hedgie was really unwell, and I was crying at check-out, and the receptionist came out from the behind the desk and hugged me. They are just wonderful. All of them. Dr. Bolt is very thorough, and the vet techs are incredibly patient with my neurotic dog. I've been going here probably two or three years, and I've never received sub-par treatment. Going to the vet here is like going home. Seriously, if I could see Dr. Bolt as my GP, I would. He's incredibly intuitive and so caring, and he's staffed vet techs and receptionists with the same characteristics. Be warned, there's usually a longish wait, but that's because the staff is very thorough. You're not a number here. It's not a matter of "I've spent my fifteen minutes with you, I've got other patients to see." Pet parents like me have lots of questions and need lots of explanations, and I've never felt like I was an annoyance. I'll trade quality care over speed any day. I cannot fully express my gratitude to the folks at Sweeten Creek Animal and Bird Hospital. My boys are happy and healthy because of them, and my blood pressure is considerably lower because I'm not worrying about them all the time.
