We played Forbidden Jungle, an excellent addition to the Forbidden Series. We attempted a game that was way too hard to learn, but quickly switched to Fire Tower, which was excellent, then closed with Kittin, a fast, fun, stupid game. Being able to try different games is the reason this type of business is great. They have a private room with a big table for a group and several smaller tables throughout the open space. It's nicely decorated and well lit. They have a small assortment of snacks for purchase, just enough to keep you going. This is a gamer heaven.

When I asked why the store is so unprofessional about it's ability to purchase cards, I was rudely told I could come grab the cards at anytime. Any lgs store owners or employees know waiting for 42 card list to be assessed for 3 days is ridiculous. I literally did my tcg list in 30 minutes. Main point being know your position and hire those who know your product, seems like business 101 but I guess not. The store and it's product are all amazing, not so sure about the staffs qualifications though.

So this place is right up my alley. Dragon's Roost has been around for years. It used to be in Sylvania, then Holland. Now it's in West Toledo, on Sylvania Avenue, just east of Pa Jolly's and just west of the Chessie Circle Trail crossing. This is by far the best spot. THIS is EXACTLY where a place like this belongs. Atmosphere: Two-story building. Upstairs is gaming tables and the like. Downstairs is the café plus games, miniatures, and books for sale. Coffee: Damned good, and the menu is huge. Personally I like the Dark Lord and the Dragon's Breath. Both are mocha-style drinks flavored with hot peppers (ghost and cayenne). D'sR also serves breakfast, cookies, pastries, hotdogs and so on. I haven't eaten here yet. Staff: Friendly and accommodating. Hours: Longer than what's listed on Yelp or the website (in fact, the site doesn't look like it's been updated in about a year). During the week they actually open at 7 a.m. every day, including Monday, and close at 10 p.m. Weekend hours are a little different. So if you're a closet geek, like me, this place is for you. The staff here is likely knowledgeable when it comes to games, which I don't play many of the types of games they offer her. Just not my cup of tea. On the comics side, which I feel is enough to review them on, since it is advertised on the sign, there is a large selection, but it's not that great. Mostly new books, yes there are rows of back issues, but it's all common stuff, nothing a big collector needs. The staff that is here most of the time doesn't know a lot about the comics side of the store, the few times I've asked I've been told the comics guy is only there on Wednesdays. Such is life. Luckily for me I know the comics industry well enough to not need a lot of help with my choices. It's a good shop for comics, just not great.

Holy Toledo , I can't believe it. Slot cars are making a comeback. I remember the days of old, when…read moreI was a kid. I made my slot cars out of piano wire and brass. Bent the wire , cut the brass, soldered it all together. Rewound the armature, and replaced the magnets with Arco Magnets . Away my car went screaming around the track. My car was fast and hugged the track. I was sort of a geek for that back then. I was around 9 or 10. I remember The Groove ( Hot Dogs ) , Thom Thumb, Pit Stop, and a few more that the names I can not recall. I still after all these years (59) have my slot car case and most of the parts. I still have boxes of trophies I won in races. Well here is a business that is just opening up soon with a track. Next time I come to Toledo I will bring my case , MXR controllers and cars. See what I have to do to tweak out my 1/24th and 1/32nd scale cars to make the lap. I will give a later update on this when I come back.

I'm a regular shopper at Michael's especially since A) Joann Fabrics has closed and B) I hate hobby lobby and only shop there if I absolutely have no other choice. This location is extremely well stocked, full of awesome stuff and very busy. They have the usual fanfare of crafting stuff, but for some reason it really was a more than pleasant time here for my shopping needs. Stores very clean and organized, stuff is mostly easy to locate and they have decent coupons if you look online before you go. Micheals are usually in good working order, but whomever is running this store clearly does an amazing job of keeping it together. I like that they have the self checkout kiosks because, like today, I just had a few sheets of paper and probably could have checked myself out but stood in line because it was hot and I was tired. Overall fantastic experience. One of the best Micheals I've been to in a long time!
