An employee in her practice had prescribed a medication for me and when it came time for it to be refilled, that employee had left the practice. Additionally, thanks to the new insurance laws, my plan had changed. In short, Ms. Griffith refused to refill the prescription, which carries the warning to gradually discontinue use because, "Abrupt withdrawal has been associated with seizures in individuals without a history of seizures or epilepsy." Well, I was out and they knew it, but seizures be damned, they didn't take my insurance and didn't want to see me. Not even an offer to see me as a cash-paying patient. I was absolutely disgusted by the nurses, physician assistant, and front desk work ethics and not handling this professionally. These employees is airing out everybody medical problems i.e. "Jason has HIV!". I am absolutely sure when you work in any medical facility, you sign and complied with the HIPAA Laws. This law states that you are not allowed to reveal any patients medical history to anyone or even say it out loud in the lobby. Boy! Theses nurses and front desk did not comply with the HIPAA laws and aired everybody medical conditions to the point any patient can hear it in the lobby . In addition to making to making it worse, the nurse invited a nurse student without asking for my permission to allow a nurse student inside the room with me. These nurses handle every situation the worse way possible for a patient. I will not be returning to this location ever! WARNING!: If you want your medical condition to be known to everybody, I sincerely suggest you try another doctors office. I will be reporting this the HIPAA main office. I am truly disappointed of how these employees handle a patient medical history and privacy.
