Now a total of 5 years later and we're still as happy as we were in the beginning! Difference now…read moreis my son lives in a group home and she is able to accommodate another person into our sessions, I'm not quite ready to step away from being involved in his care! She does a terrific job of making sure she talks to all of us, including my son. We discuss meds and routines and possible changes as a team and she makes sure she asks questions so she has all the info she needs! #1

My son is diagnosed with schizophrenia, which she is not an expert in. The prior reviews about her schedule staying on time resonate with me. She is very in control of her schedule. Too in control to take care of her job. We discussed a well organized plan to switch his medication. He was on zyorexa and Deepa off. She said that if we were going to do that we had to get him off depacote as this is not compatible with caplyta. After six weeks of titrations down on the depacote she told him he can't have caplyta, which has been highly recommended for him by some other professionals I've engaged. Turns out caplyta is compatible with depacote (so she was just wrong and out my son though unnecessary stress taking him off of it) and he needs to be titrated off or zyorexa to take the caplyta. She told us she talked to the drug rep and he said it didn't work for schizophrenia. Not what he said. I was able to check. Titration off of zyprexa would require extra check ins with my son (see love of her schedule). I set up an appointment with my private consultant so she could learn what she didn't understand. She didn't show up after agreeing to make the call. My son is very disappointed. He wants to have better mental health without the side effects or zyprexa. Anyway, she's may be great in some cases but she's out of he depth, and is so focused on keeping her time under control she has failed to help as needed.

This place has been an absolute blessing to my life. The office staff has been very professional and has never make me feel like I'm being a bother, no matter how many times I call to verify my appt times b/c I'm forgetful, LOL. The girl that works the front desk, Chris, I think-- she's always a pleasure to see as I'm checking in. She's always very kind and attentive and seeing her smiling face and warm personality really puts me at ease before going into my appts. As far as my counselor is concerned-- I couldn't have asked for a better fit for my personality. Connie is like a counselor, life coach, and mentor, all wrapped up in one person. It's obvious that she cares about her patients and truly wants to help. I have to say that I hate writing reviews. I'm a private person for the most part; so whether it be a good or bad experience, I usually do not post my opinions online. However, I had to step out of my comfort zone this time b/c Mandarin Counseling, and Connie especially, helped me through a really tough time this past year. Had it not been for Connie's patience, care, and help-- I'm certain I'd be in a very different place right now mentally. Because of my gratitude for all that Connie has helped me with, I HAD to write a review and sing her praises. She is a rare gem and I will forever be grateful for her support and guidance. What makes a significant difference are the staff and practitioners. They genuinely focus on the patient care rather than making money. Dr. Amit, Ms. Hayes. I had to frequently bring in my own research and second opinions from other professionals from my medical team in order to get any progress on testing or diagnoses. I complained for over a year about stress and anxiety with little to no actual medical effort to provide treatment beyond "holistic" methods and basic treatments that had been tried in the past multiple times, and in which I stated I did not want to try again. Due to this, and despite improvements on communicating with family and handling issues, facilitated by other therapy professionals outside this facility. During a moment in which I was confronting family and setting boundaries. My family, who are known to be abusive, manipulative, and who I have requested to not have any medical influence or control over my healthcare were able to contact Dr. Vijapura, who without consulting the nurse practitioner who had been working with me, ordered that I'd be Baker Acted, which was documented by family and the hospital. He later tried to deny that he placed the order. I will be contacting a lawyer about this, if not reporting this to the appropriate medical watchdogs, I do not recommend anyone using this facility. My family situation is further exacerbated, I'm now suddenly left with no resources nor treatment plan due to the stated and documented failure of Dr. Vijapura to do his due diligence as a medical professional, and I'm now further financially strained with unexpected medical bills from having to be forced to "voluntarily" go to the ER to confirm I was not a danger to myself, despite showing no real evidence of being a threat. This group is a real danger to Floridians as they prioritize profit and image over their patients, while doing less than the bare minimum to treat said patients. I will not be surprised if this facility is part of the growing racket of medical professionals falsely imprisoning at risk individuals to take advantage of Medicare relief and mental health funding that comes with housing and treating these individuals. I came close to losing my freedom, my business, and my actual support system because of the negligence of this group. Please avoid at all cost.
