    My Learning Tree

WARWICK LOCATION: My son was at My Learning Tree for about 5 months. I want to start by saying that…read moreduring our time there I felt my son was cared for and received an adequate education for his age group. What really made me feel uneasy there was the lack of organization and cleanliness of the building. I never knew which class I'd be dropping my son off to or which class I'd be picking him up from. More often than not, I wouldn't be greeted at drop off and have to get the attention of teachers to tell me where to bring him. Same thing at drop off. It was very unwelcoming honestly. My son's classroom in particular was tiny! Even for toddlers it was cramped and there was lots of carry over noise from other classrooms. In regard to cleanliness, the building looked like it needed some deep cleaning-floors and walls in particular looked dirty, even where the infants crawl around. I had never seen windows open so it usually smelled like a diaper pail. In the parking lot, there were always parent car(s) that reeked of marijuana. Not sure how staff didn't notice. The location was super convenient for us but knew we wouldn't keep our son there long term. The issue that ended our time there was my son had had a bit of a biting problem as many toddlers do. It would come and go over those 5 months. We had talked about it with staff a few times. I was told that staff was able to prevent contact of the bite the majority of time. Still, I was very concerned. I was always on their side to figure it out and resolve it. Never argued, defended it, and was more than cooperative. I followed all of their recommendations, and even had expedited OT services to help that were going to start in the next week or two. Those last weeks, I was the one asking daily how he behaved, no one had mentioned any issues so I assumed all was well. Then I was totally blindsided: One day after drop off I received a message in the app asking if I had seen the email that was sent to me. I checked my email and saw a message from one of the lead staff that was short and easy to tell not a lot of thought or effort went into it. On top of that, the email was sent to me at 9:46pm on a week night! It basically said my son was being disenrolled because the *attempted* biting had not stopped. They said he could stay the rest of the week but he'd be sent home if he attempted to bite. So he hadn't actually hurt anyone and was safe enough to keep him a few more days but was being kicked out? Ok. We didn't send him back of course. Aside from the bonds my son now had to lose, I was not upset that he couldn't go there anymore, I was upset by how poorly the entire situation was addressed. There were absolutely no formal conversations, no warnings that termination was in the near future, I didn't even get the courtesy of a phone call! I was angry because a place that is supposed to care for children gave my child 0 chance knowing very well the OT services were starting soon. This was incredibly inconsiderate, unprofessional, and confirmed that this place would never be best for my son. A total disservice to him. Their decision was so abrupt, it seemed like there were ulterior motives, like they needed the spot or something. I knew this couldn't be ethical and definitely made me question how much this center could be trusted if they could pull the rug out on you so fast. My 2yo is now in another center that is immaculate, so well organized, large class rooms and outdoor play space, ALL the staff are friendly, and only a $2/week price difference. But the best part is my baby is flourishing! NO biting, more valuable learning, and he is always smiling in his pics! (he rarely ever smiled in his pics here) Makes me wonder just how well my baby was being treated at My Learning Tree after all. I can't say for sure that your kids won't get "good enough" care here, but I will say you would definitely be missing out on better. There has to be better than what was done to our family, most importantly, my child.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about My Learning Tree! The curriculum is extremely encouraging, the teachers are AMAZING and we appreciate their thoughtful approach to selecting children and also the families who become part of their community. At that time when she started, she was 4.5 months old. I was scared at first due to COVID, but quickly noticed that they were taking great precautions. I felt safe knowing she was in good hands. Since January, I am truly impressed with the outstanding care she is receiving from Miss Lorie and Miss Angela. The teachers keep me up to date with how she is doing developmentally all the time. I introduced the sippy cup recently, and the teachers were very happy to continue to help her practice using it while at school. They figured out a nap and feeding schedule that I can adhere to on the weekends. Everyone has been very responsive to my questions, and get back to me in a timely manner. My daughter comes home clean every day. I am very impressed that everyone knows my husband and I by name. I see how everyone interacts with my daughter and it warms my heart. I feel comfortable leaving her here knowing she is going to be well cared for. Not to mention, they still do a lot of activities with families after school despite COVID. Right near Valentines's Day, they had a Sweetheart Dance that we attended on Zoom. It was so nice to see families dancing, singing, and listening to stories. I am so happy to have chosen this school for my little one. They have become my second family. If you are considering sending your little one to daycare, please consider this school. I am thankful I did :)

We feel fortunate to have a place to bring our kids where they are safe and have fun. Teachers come and go, which can be frustrating, but it is somewhat expected in this industry, and we have always felt that the various teachers truly cared about our children. There was a period of high turnover where the director and assistant director left that we considered going elsewhere, but by the time we could get in anywhere, things settled down and the school got a new director. Since Jason has been at the helm, the school has never looked better and we have seen lots of improvements. We feel confident about the school under his leadership. The only other drawback about this school is the co$$$t, but it sure is nice not to have to pack a lunch or snacks which are included. I am always impressed with the arts and crafts done in the toddler rooms and also appreciate how often the children get out in the fresh air when possible. I have hundreds of adorable pics I have gotten in daily updates through the years but there were very few I could share while being mindful of privacy.

The only solice we had after learning what was really going on at the daycare was our child being in Miss Alicia's classroom. Miss Alicia and Miss Michelle genuinely care about the kids in their room, provide structure and safety (yes safety) for their kiddos and any additional ones they can take in their room when able to. Knowing that the Regional Director was well informed about what was and had happened at this location and felt it was okay and appropriate to argue with parents and teachers about what was happening at the school has made us lose faith with all Cadence schools.

Not a day goes by that my son (who is currently in their care) doesn't report on the meaningful and rich connections he makes between things they work on and discuss at school. Most importantly, all of my children loved it and looked forward to going every day. Bright Start Academy provides a nurturing environment that helped my children to be comfortable with separation and structure, and engage in socialization. As well as fostering positive growth focusing on kindness, manners and charity. My four children are so different in their personalities and learning styles, yet the team at Bright Start was able to find each one's niche and create an amazingly successful preschool experience for them. I especially love all of the Holiday, birthday and family celebrations along with all the fun field trips. I am beyond grateful for the energy, patience, care, and especially for the respect the teachers show for the children. They communicate about my child's good days and challenging days, and as a mom I feel lucky to be supported by an experienced, knowledgeable team who know my child so well, and truly care about his growth and development.

I have 2 kids, one started in the infants room and has moved up to toddler. My oldest started in preschool and now is in the after school program. All of my experiences have met or exceeded expectations. They have a solid leadership group that is committed to providing more than just a babysitting service. There is an educational curriculum at all age groups, and extracurricular activities including music class, sport camps, computer time, culinary skills, a large indoor gross motor room, a splash park outside, and use of the Wide World of Indoor Sports during the long cold winters. They have a nurse on staff who visits both campuses, and the staff is very communicative about any of those unavoidable outbreaks of common kid illnesses. In addition, when my oldest was experiencing some behavioral challenges, the teachers and administration all worked with me to develop a plan that best suited my child's needs.
