Our family has been part of the community at Cadence Smithfield since 2022 and we currently have…read moretwo students enrolled. We feel fortunate to have a place to bring our kids where they are safe and have fun. Teachers come and go, which can be frustrating, but it is somewhat expected in this industry, and we have always felt that the various teachers truly cared about our children. There was a period of high turnover where the director and assistant director left that we considered going elsewhere, but by the time we could get in anywhere, things settled down and the school got a new director. Since Jason has been at the helm, the school has never looked better and we have seen lots of improvements. We feel confident about the school under his leadership. The only other drawback about this school is the co$$$t, but it sure is nice not to have to pack a lunch or snacks which are included. I am always impressed with the arts and crafts done in the toddler rooms and also appreciate how often the children get out in the fresh air when possible. I have hundreds of adorable pics I have gotten in daily updates through the years but there were very few I could share while being mindful of privacy.

Revised review as of 8/23/2024: We were heartbroken after…read morelearning the truth about what was happening at this daycare behind the scenes; children being verbally and emotionally scared into cooperating, instances not being reported to parents (even when it was a medical/safety issue), teachers who have little to no training, and teachers told to feed children food that is moldy or undercooked. The only solice we had after learning what was really going on at the daycare was our child being in Miss Alicia's classroom. Miss Alicia and Miss Michelle genuinely care about the kids in their room, provide structure and safety (yes safety) for their kiddos and any additional ones they can take in their room when able to. Knowing that the Regional Director was well informed about what was and had happened at this location and felt it was okay and appropriate to argue with parents and teachers about what was happening at the school has made us lose faith with all Cadence schools.

They have become an extension of our village. Truly that gives us peace of mind knowing we can leave our kids in a caring, kind and nurturing place while we are at work. We could not recommend them more!

My daughter started in the infant room right after New Years 2021. We had done research on daycares…read morewhile I was 12 weeks pregnant and this was the one we fell in love with. At that time when she started, she was 4.5 months old. I was scared at first due to COVID, but quickly noticed that they were taking great precautions. I felt safe knowing she was in good hands. Since January, I am truly impressed with the outstanding care she is receiving from Miss Lorie and Miss Angela. The teachers keep me up to date with how she is doing developmentally all the time. I introduced the sippy cup recently, and the teachers were very happy to continue to help her practice using it while at school. They figured out a nap and feeding schedule that I can adhere to on the weekends. Everyone has been very responsive to my questions, and get back to me in a timely manner. My daughter comes home clean every day. I am very impressed that everyone knows my husband and I by name. I see how everyone interacts with my daughter and it warms my heart. I feel comfortable leaving her here knowing she is going to be well cared for. Not to mention, they still do a lot of activities with families after school despite COVID. Right near Valentines's Day, they had a Sweetheart Dance that we attended on Zoom. It was so nice to see families dancing, singing, and listening to stories. I am so happy to have chosen this school for my little one. They have become my second family. If you are considering sending your little one to daycare, please consider this school. I am thankful I did :)

They make accommodations for every child's needs. My daughter has been going here for almost a year and I can't imagine her going anywhere else. They also are truly amazing teachers. Enrolling here was one of the best decisions I've made for my daughter!

They have provided a loving, trustworthy, thoughtful, and educational environment. Staff make it a point to learn about each child and create lasting relationships. It truly feels like "the neighborhood daycare/early childhood center" that so many caregivers wish for and for that, I have so much gratitude. As a parent, the last I want is to worry about my child when I drop them off. Never have I been worried about leaving my child there. Regarding the building, it's clean, safe with a security door, and a fenced play yard away from the busy street. they follow the public school curriculum. The teachers are wonderful. The director is amazing. If your child goes to DECC, you're one of the lucky ones.

ATTENTION: DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CHILD AT THE DR DAY CARE SMITHFIELD LOCATION. This location should not…read moreeven be considered for child care. How they are still open and "caring" for children is beyond me, and it makes me SICK to my stomach for anybody who leaves their child here every single day. From first hand personal experience, your children are NOT SAFE here! They are not being nurtured AT ALL and they're definitely not being loved and cared for the way you would expect your child to be loved and cared for. Especially for the amount of money you are being charged for child care. The director and assistant are compulsive, pathological liars. Do not trust them. They will lie to your face about the safety and well being of your children. They lie to dcyf workers investigating complaints made by somebody other than the director herself (so a complaint made by an employee or family member). The male employee is put so high on a pedestal at the Smithfield location that he gets away with abusing children and it's considered "okay" by most employees because they are friends who go out drinking together, even with their administrators. The employees are "supposedly" mandatory reporters but they are told that they are better off reporting neglect and/or abuse right to the directors rather than to call DCYF on their own (yes, the director Danielle scares her employees into NOT making the call to dcyf) but when the reports are made right to her or her assistant, the allegations are ignored, not taken seriously, or not believed, and of course, swept under the rug. INFANTS (6 weeks to 1 year) are grabbed by their LIMBS!!!! If they stand in their cribs, the nurturing care takers will grab your babies by the arms, slam them onto their stomachs and yell at them "ENOUGH! GO TO SLEEP!" Once a baby starts being able to wiggle and move around, they're able to bang on the sides of the cribs; the caring and nurturing teacher will grab them by a foot and yank them fast and hard away from the crib side. If a baby is having a hard time falling asleep, or if they typically cry at nap time, they will be forcefully rolled onto their belly and have their backs "patted" aka SMACKED SO HARD its surprising theres never any bruising. If the back smacking doesnt work, theyll literally be left in their crib screaming their head off for the entire two hours (usually more because theyll be the last to get taken out of their crib. Every other child will be removed one at a time and have their diaper changed first). According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (and probably dcyf regulations considering it's a daycare) babies aren't allowed to sleep on their stomachs unless they can roll to that position by themselves but at the Smithfield location, any baby having a hard time settling down is tossed onto their stomachs in hopes that they'll fall asleep quickly so the teacher can go stuff her face with food or wander the hallways or go interrupt other classrooms or go use her cell phone in a bathroom, all while leaving her own classrooms out of ratios for the entire two hour nap time (and theres more than one two hour nap each day) Parents are made to believe (by the directors) that their kids are safe because of the multiple cameras placed in every classroom, yet administration does absolutely nothing about the wrongful things that are clearly taking place in all of these classrooms. Children at this location, if they soil their diaper in between one of the four regularly scheduled diaper changes, they will not be changed until one of those scheduled times. I could go on and on for hours detailing the many reasons a parent should NOT send their child here, or why parents who currently have children here should REMOVE their child from this disgusting place. And if we're being honest, that infant room is the very first classroom in the building. There's still a long hallway with many more classrooms and horror stories to mention. TRUST MY WORD: As a parent, if something, ANYTHING, does not feel right, I promise you from the bottom of my heart IT IS NOT RIGHT!
