Who would've thought our highlight meal in Puerto Rico would be Chinese food?…read moreOf all the spots we tried on our trip, this place completely surprised us. Service was pretty standard -- we were greeted as soon as we walked in, and luckily it wasn't too busy at that time (the night before it had been packed, so I was glad we missed the rush). We chose our own table, and the waitress came right over to help us out. We ordered the California roll, chicken fried rice, and Thai chili wings. The California roll was good, nothing over the top but solid. The chicken fried rice was really flavorful, but the star of the show -- without question -- were the Thai chili wings. They were absolutely delicious, the kind of dish that makes you wish you had ordered extra to take home. Honestly, I regret not going back the night before just to grab some more. The ambience was what you'd expect from a typical Chinese restaurant -- nothing too flashy, but it didn't need to be. The food carried the experience. We'll definitely be going back on our next trip to Puerto Rico, and you can bet those Thai chili wings will be the first thing we order.

I admittedly had low expectations for Chinese food in PR, but the lo mein with chicken was delicious! They also had a few vegan options, like the imperial ginger w tofu (essentially sweet & sour tofu) that comes with a side of rice. My lo mein did not come with a side of rice but the portion size could be split among two people, and you can add a side of rice for a small up charge. The vibe is a black & red Asian decor, with a rap around bar and a few restaurant tables. There is also a walk-up boba bar attached that's available on the dining menu.

We tried the pan fried veggie dumplings, scallion pancake, hongkong noodles, imperial ginger tofu, black bean chicken, ube pudding and donut with condensed milk. Also 4 drinks - ranging from floral soju based, tropical gin based to fruity bourbon ones. Everything tasted alright - but don't go here expecting authentic flavors - just get ur trip fix ins for asian inspired food. Also I'd skip the imperial ginger and anything that has sweet spicy description as those dishes only lean toward sweet sugary sauce flavors. Service is good but they took really long to come out with the desserts and then the check.

It's hard to say anything bad about this place!…read more The line is long, but it's full of excitement and gawking at everyone's gelato and seeing their faces when they take their first taste. Also, the line moves pretty quickly. At $7.19 for the regular (two flavors), it's not cheap (PR McDonald's vanilla ice cream cone is $0.99 for comparison!), but it's definitely worth doing (at least) once. The flavors are all extremely unique and it's a mystery what may be in a specific flavor (e.g. Pavlova and mixed berries), but you can try to your heart's content for free. In the end, I doubt there is a "bad" flavor. My favorites were cookieman (like Oreo cookies in a vanilla base) and chocolate cookie. Pistachio was good, but a taster would have sufficed. Sadly, they did not have a mint and chip!

We did not realize how popular it was until seeing how long the line was and how many locations they have around the world. I was overwhelmed with all the flavors they have, but luckily they let you have samples of the ones you are interested in before committing to it. I will also mention that they have a lot of unique flavors which makes it really hard to decide. I was reading on their website that this business started 20 years ago on a smaller scale at home, with Anita (mom) making jams and toppings and her son making the base. Despite the line being long, it went by really quick and time flew by looking at the menu while waiting. They offer 5 different sizes - 3 single serve and 2 designed for take away - and do give you an option between cup or cone. I ended up getting the regular size which appears to be a small cup but they do a good job of filling it. It came with up to two flavors so I chose the cookies and cream and a white chocolate pretzel thing. I think between the commotion of ordering and all the people, there was a miscommunication in one of the flavors I ended up with since it tasted different from the sample but it was still good. The regular cost $7.90 and each size after is a little under $2 more. There is seating in the back, but we took it to go and instead went to go sit in the pigeon park nearby. The staff was very nice, and managed orders well despite there being so many people with different requests.
