From the first phone call for an appointment, the lady who picked up the phone was very nice and clear. She told me that this doctor is located in a house and that there is parking out back. Walking into the house from the front door, you have to guess which of the three doors is the correct one. (I guessed the door on the left and got it right the first time, whew!) On the day of my appointment, there was no wait at all. The nurse/clerk was very very nice from beginning to end. Dr. Derzie explained everything to me very clearly and the appointment went smoothly. He knew my case without me having to explain what surgery I had. He called one of the nurses into the room with me during my appointment so that I would be more comfortable. I was in and out of the office within 15-20 minutes. I would recommend this place for sure!

I have been a patient of Dr. Joseph Koka's since I was 18 years old. For anyone who is reading this…read morereview, that would mean that I've been a patient of his for over 33 years. I love this guy. For real. When my gynecologist retired, I was pretty nervous about going to see a new doc. All my fears were completely allayed by Dr. Koka's laid-back manner, his intelligence and wit, and his ability to figure something out in no time. Whenever I made a decision about my body, he was there to completely support me. I'll never use anyone else. One experience completely stands out for me. I remember that I had been temporarily using a different physician in a different practice, due to an insurance change. Because those physicians were unable to figure out what had been going on with me, I contacted Dr. Koka and gave him the information. He sent me for immediate labwork, and was the one who told me that I had miscarried. Because he figured out something that other physicians with twice his experience could not, he immediately became a hero. When the time came for my daughter to be born, Dr. Koka and his partner, Dr. Rosenberg, delivered her. I could not have asked for a greater gift; Dr. Koka joked with me to keep me calm during the surgery (I'd needed a C-section, because my daughter was breech). I had complete confidence with him back then, and I continue to have that same confidence now. Dr. Koka's bedside manner is superb. I've worked with him as a colleague, and he's top notch. Because of his experience, his diagnosis skills are noteworthy. And he's an all-around great guy. If you're looking for a caring, respectful, compassionate doctor with a calm demeanor, Dr. Koka is worth the trip. Friends of mine use him, and they are not disappointed. I've said it before, we must all make our own experiences and judge what works for us and what doesn't. I can tell you from personal experience that Dr. Koka is wonderful. When I was a new patient the staff made sure that I received the paperwork prior to arrival so that the process was quick and easy when I got there. I am a skeptic when it comes to doctors and whether they are knowledgeable due to personal experience with quack doctors that led to a previous lung collapse and a near plane death experience after failure to diagnose by not taking an X-ray, I know my fair share of bad doctors. Let's just say considering I've moved to Brooklyn and I'm still going to Long Island to see a doctor speaks a lot about my personal and professional feelings towards this doctor.
