No appointment, just walked in. I got there at 8:40am and was immediately seated as the shampoo bowl, left at 10:30am. Nej (? I believe is his name) serviced me! Everyone was so kind! The salon is clean, open and airy with a nice R&B playlist going in the background! You know how with some stylists when they blow dry and use a flat iron/curler to your hair you can feel the extreme heat on your scalp and ear? I didn't feel a thing the entire time. I was absolutely comfortable and didn't need to hold down or cover my ear like I'm used to doing. They'll be seeing me again! Very satisfied!

The next time I went, my stylist was a much larger gentleman (not sure of his name) who used ALOT of heat. That's fine if the hair strands are thick and can handle it, but one look at my hair and you can see that each strand is fine. Although he did use heat protectant, he passed once with Marcels, then again with flat irons, and then again to curl with the flat irons. My hair was basically flat to my head with curls at the bottom. Fluffing didn't help. Fast forward two weeks, a deep condition, hair mask, steam treatment, and wash... the heat damage is irreversible. I'm not mad at anyone. It was the risk I took. Bottom line: The service isn't personalized to your hair or even your hair type. Just whatever makes your hair look aesthetically appealing, regardless of the method or the damage it may cause.

I proceed to get my hair blow dried and the man doing it was polite and courteous but I will note that yes they use excessive heat but I saw past that because I have very resilient hair that can take a lot of heat. After an hour of blow drying and wincing from the heat burning my scalp at times, I'm now heading to get my hair straightened. This is when it gets interesting, the man who greeted me when I walked in and told me that a trim is $15 is straightening my hair. He shows me how much he's going to trim and proceeds to give me a hair cut. He was scissor happy which l don't mind because I prefer healthy ends over length. Now it's time for me to pay. He tells me that is $115. I was not having that. I stayed calmed though. Why wasn't I going to pay that you ask? Because I asked how much it would cost as soon as I entered and he was very vague, I kept pressing him for a price but all he said was that it could cost $55 and up. Now I asked them to break down $115 to me and they said the wash, blow dry and style for my hair alone was $75. Then the deep condition was $15 and the hair cut was $25. I refused to pay for a hair cut that I was told was going to be a trim. It's not my fault that you're scissor happy. I stood firm and got the price down to $105 and since it was my first time it came down to $95. Although the woman who washed my hair insisted that I've been there before. I paid them the $95 and still left a tip. Why such a long review? It's simple, I'm tired of hair salons taking advantage of African American customers and up charging them at the end.

The technicians we had our services with were Staci, Kelli and I believe one other woman where we booked Bridal hair and makeup. On my first visit with Staci unfortunately the makeup turned out so poorly it was recommended I go with someone else to complete my look. I really appreciated her honesty and understanding that she was unable to deliver on what I wanted and so I decided to go forward with booking our Bridal parties hair and makeup here. Communication: after we created our appointments and I had requested airbrush makeup for my look I was very surprised when Kelly confirmed my appointment and did not do airbrush but she promised me it would turn out beautiful so begrudgingly I went ahead. Hair- unfortunately even though I had shared we were going to be dancing quite a bit and I have thick hair that does very well with a good amount of hairspray and hair pins, each of our hair fell within just a couple hours. It was quite sad as of course we had a photographer to capture this day. We were constantly fussing trying to push the pins back in and trying to salvage the updos. Makeup- I was positive that the pictures were going to turn out flawless because the look when I left the salon did look very nice and overall was what I requested with a few adjustments and recommendations on my end. However once I received all of the pictures back I noticed how glaringly awful the raccoon concealer looked under my eyes. It is incredibly obvious that my skin is almost three shades a different when picked up by the photos. I am so sad about this our only recourse is to pay to photoshop all the photos I am in. Overall this place is really cute and I really wanted to like it I really enjoyed working with Kelly but unfortunately the quality of the work that came out of everyone's experience was all of our hair was ruined within less than half the night and unfortunately all the professional pictures we took were ruined by how my makeup showed up on camera. I scheduled an appointment with KellyAnn for my daughter, It was her 1st time going to her. The…read moreappointment was for a haircut, to clean up her dead ends...not a new style. When I made the appointment, I asked if she was experienced with ethnic hair. I was told yes, she was trained in textured hair. Once at the salon, daughter in the chair, I asked KellyAnn how much experience she has with this type of hair while holding my daughter's long hair. She looked at me and said "I am VERY experienced." I thought great and continued to discuss what we were looking for in a haircut. I wanted her ends cut off (cut was to go from middle of the back to middle of the shoulder blades). The horror begins...I am waiting in the sitting area for 2.5 HOURS! Remember, IT"S ONLY A CUT/TRIM!!! I finally take peek and notice my daughter under the dryer with 2-strand twists. (KellyAnn was trying to make her curls come in.) Once done, my daughter comes from around the corner, hair is now shoulder length. My initial thought was "okay, shorter than we discussed" I was not impressed. I asked if layers were put in because I could see different lengths. Couldn't really gauge the cut because the 2-strand twists made everything lay different. Once home and daughters hair washed I could truly see the cut, her hair was completely JACKED up!!! OMG!! HORRENDOUS! I sent an email and the owner responded with an apology and he told me he would look into it the next day and get back to me. That was 4 days ago and I still haven't heard back. I even sent a second email requesting a refund for the srvice...no response. I had a great experience with one of their stylists on my curly hair, Tennille. But, I would not recommend KellyAnn for "textured hair". My daughter's hair looks like an overgrown mullet. Her hair has 2 distinct levels opposed layers. The salon owner apologized but without following up on his initial email, I have determined that customer satisfaction is not his priority being he has not resolved this complaint. I requested a refund for service and tip $44.85 ...crickets. I would not recommend this salon based on my experience there.
