However, there are lots of parking spaces along the street or near residents. Very rare that you can play tennis by the harbor in cool breezes. Also, since the center is by the ocean, the marine layer keeps you cool and you don't get scorched by the hot sun. There is also a little pro shop by the front that stocks most of your tennis needs (balls, racquets, clothes, etc.). We love that Coronado has joined our North County USTA league. It was very enjoyable playing here. Especially with a team's dub.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The courts are maintained well. But watch out the courts are very closer to natural area and you will end up going out the court to get the balls often. Everything feels organized and thoughtfully run, from the courts to the staff. The courts are in great condition, and the overall environment makes it easy to enjoy being there. I came here a few years ago for the 2023 Open Championship, and it felt like a bigger scale event with a larger crowd. They also had more food and drink vendors back then compared to this year. It's always a nice place to spend the day watching matches, and if your seats are high enough, you can even catch a distant water view.

And the best part at least for badminton is that it is free. Well now you have to pay for parking as of January 5th, 2026, but once inside badminton is free, you just have to sign up. The table tennis, and volleyball, are part of clubs where I believe you have to be a member (San Diego table tennis club). This is just a great place for people to meet outside, as they have a lovely park with a fountain and nice walkways. It's a hidden gem for a recreation center. Get there early as the place fills up. If you are going for badminton you have to have your whole party there before you can sign up. The only not so great part was the introduction of paid parking for balboa park in general. But you know what we had it free since 1915 or something, so not horrible. Besides the proceeds from the parking fees will go to making balboa park even better, I hope.

Beyond that, I have been benefitting a ton from the initial consultation and pt with Ghyslain! He's awesome to work with, like genuinely knowledgeable, very experienced, professional and fun to be around. The way he honed in on exercises that I needed and the little tweaks he makes to form while I'm lifting is incredibly helpful. I feel like I've been learning a lot from him and plan to continue the pt at least until the end of the month! I've made it to a couple of classes so far and have really loved them too (including Natalie's hot yoga!!). I think once I get more comfortable and a bit stronger from the workouts I'm learning in pt then I'll start making it to more of the classes and more frequently. It doesn't end there, if you're there around lunch time, you can get yourself a delicious smoothie, power bowl or a margarita while soaking in the sun, sitting under a cabana or a beach chair. Literally does not get any better. Everytime I hit the gym feels like vacation. I love their classes, access to the plunge pools and all their amenities like eucalyptus cool towels. Not even Lifetime offers that and they charge an extra $150 for their monthly memberships. Shout out to Jared for setting me up.
