I was delighted I found the Madonna Plaza, a mall with a great assortment of mid-level retail with a mix of moderately priced stores and restaurants. Ulta, Chipotle, Buffalo Wild Wings, REI, DSW, Sprouts, Kohl's, See's Candies, Cost Plus World Market and more. I found everything I needed and was on my way in 40 minutes with takeaway Chipotle for my son.

Technically, this shopping center is probably more on the "strip mall" side as opposed to a real…read moremall, because here you can exercise your patriotic duty as an American by driving from one store to the other (even when they're right next to each other) instead of walking. There is a wide variety of both chain and local stores to choose from, such as a department store (Sears), a supermarket, a big-box bookstore (Borders), a local place called the Crushed Grape, Best Buy, and others. Basically, if you live in San Luis Obispo and need something, but prefer to avoid downtown because of the inconvenience of walking from one end to the other, this is the alternative for those who actually use a car in their daily lives and are not ashamed of it.

Quality/Quantity - Cool spot for the young and hip. You know me... lol…read more We have frequented most of the businesses here. Atmosphere - Amazing amount of history; see website. And if you appreciate it, they have invested so much $$ in keeping as much of that building's history as possible; again, see website. 19+ businesses, 13 of which are restaurants and/or bars. See website, or all my pictures. Very small parking lot, that I always forget to try to park at. I rather park in the free residential areas half a mile away anyways. Plenty of metered street parking. See individual businesses for hours. Too many to write and they all slightly differ. Service - Depends on what you do, eat, or drink. For the most part, good service. See other Yelps. Price - Depends on what you do, eat, or drink. But fairly upscaled and priced accordingly. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1906+. 1975 - 2014 = "Hidden" local marketplace for locals and people in the know. 2019 = What we have today. :)

I would recommend better menu signage and hand held menus would have been appreciated. We ordered the build your own sandwiches. Mine was Turkey and Swiss and avocado on Dutch crunch. My husband got roast beef and cheddar and avocado on a soft baguette. Large portions which provided us with two meals each, a good value. They ran out of sour dough and multi grain breads at noon on a Sunday. ?? Someone needs to plan ahead better. Still, we would recommend and will return.

I remember the price club days in San Diego as a kid, no parking, crowded and absolutely enormous…read more However, as a 50-something, Costco doesn't seem all that big any longer or as crowded. Monday, 9AM is my weekly Costco trip, I should probably only go if I need something, because, and we all know this, you walk out with stuff you didn't intend on buying. Am I right? I've only been an executive member for going on 3 years now, the first year, I didn't go to Costco, but since retiring it's a weekly trip and usually there will be something on the Costco list we need. The SLO location is great for me, about 30 minutes from Paso, easily accessible, lots of parking, Costco gas and the reliable food court we have grown to love. I walk the store weekly, never in a hurry to get in and out, but the only time I've seen it really crowded was Thanksgiving week, 2025, but even then it was manageable once inside, it never felt crowded and the check out lives, including self check weren't a long wait. I feel the employees do a great job keeping the store stocked and clean, making it easy to navigate. I have use the optometry department, which was very easy, albeit a little bit of a wait to be served. They took all three of my prescriptions and I found a frame and a few weeks I picked my glasses up. Since then, they have repaired them once, no charge. If you need glasses, get them filled at Costco, so easy, good selection. Overall, I am happy with their selection, there are things I wish they would stock, miso marinated sablefish and Tejava being two of those items. It's nice to see some new items as I stroll the aisle and overall it's s great experience in SLO. Can't forget that hotdog meal on the way out, still a deal at $1.50!
