Living in Kodiak, I had to fly back and forth for all appointments and the staff at Apex was SO helpful with this. The interior of their office is beautiful and welcoming and everyone there was always so warm and nurturing, which meant a lot to me since I was truly nervous and in pain. Unfortunately, I had to spend a lot more time here than I originally expected, but couldn't have asked for a better overall experience based on the staff and the precision of Dr. Miller.

They waited just past 3yrs for her to retire and patients to be unable to easily transition back to their previous provider to tell the patients that their plan of care would be changing vastly once she left the practice. I wish i could just say they don't care about their patients and if it was just that alone, I'd be resolute in the fact that it's better that we separated to go our separate ways. HOWEVER, that's not the only issue here, it apparently the office manager has taken it upon herself to breach hipaa laws and patient privacy because she's sharing with other pain management specialists her "unprofessional opinion" on specific patients and whether she feels they're a "problem patient or not" even when there's no documentation in file to suggest otherwise. So in the very near future a lawsuit is likely to follow, and from the similarities other patients have shared ... it might end up being a class action suit. It takes a lot of gaul and moral irresponsibility to speak on people who don't have an active ROI... Recently 3 of 5 pain management clinics have been refusing to serve this patient after having just stated they have openings and accept the insurance. They enquired about previous pain doctors and Alpenglow was only named, but no ROI or paperwork was completed to give a reason for them to come back ready to run in the opposite direction, unwilling to do procedures or medications. So far two have employees willing to admit that negative comments that were shared... so there's that... When you see this clinic, don't just walk in the opposite direction, RUN! Because when it's good, it's fine, but the moment there is a problem, it becomes nasty quick. And the unethical behaviors we've experienced are astounding, and seem to target patients who have an emotional response to bad news, ex. start crying, or try explaining through tears the situation they're facing in their plan of care, or whether they feel supported or not. The other targets are people who refused to take medications prescribed to them that had adverse physical effects. Before you know it, you're looking for a new provider and that's about the only thing i can appreciate is that the people who have terminated or been terminated are at least lucky to be out of there with a better chance for responsible care.

I was in his office just a couple of weeks ago, got a h. pylori test and am now on the road to recovery....he does listen to patients concerns, makes educated suggestions and tailors a program, procedure or medications that fit you, your lifestyle and includes your input. The longest I've waited is an hour just to be put into a patient room. His staff is very curteous, always apologetic for his tardiness. Dr. Thornquist isn't a "thorough" doctor. He tends to assume the problem and from what other patients have told me, he tends to prescribe the same thing to each patient he sees (steroids, narcotics, etc.). I would not recommend this doctor to anyone who has addiction issues. I also wouldn't recommend this doctor to anyone who doesn't have the patience to wait to see a doctor. Dr. Thornquist has a pleasant personality but I don't feel he has his patient's best interests at heart.

They don't start by pushing medications but rather approach your treatment with a more holistic approach. They start with procedures that are targeted to treat your symptoms. The providers are great to work with and they enjoy teaching their staff new things as they believe that the more everyone knows the better the office will run. I would definitely agree! Having people cross trained allows for information to get to the patients more easily as anyone can answer their questions. The work environment is great. I really enjoyed my time working with Dr. Olamikan and think he was a great boss. The patients themselves were so kind and I miss so many of the regulars now that I have moved. Unless you are the earlier patient with a serious problem that he took the time to help. They didn't over book, they took more time than allotted when it was necessary. A doctor that can stay on schedule is what we have now: "what's your problem? Okay, here's a prescription. Next patient" And Dr Mike made it clear that he could not accept Medicare patients because Medicare doesn't pay for anything they consider unnecessary, which is anything beyond taking your vital signs. Those of us approaching Medicare age knew that and planned to pay out of pocket. He was worth it.
