Like most mini farmers markets, try to get there early as all the best food goes quickly to eager locals and their Channel shopping trollies. Even though there are only between 12 and 15 stalls, there's a nice choice of meat, fish and vegetables, all organic and all from local producers. I particularly like the green leaves stall for just-cut watercress, spinach and rocket. They taste so much better than organic packaged produce from the supermarket and have a much longer life span. There's a good fresh herb stall too and if you fancy growing your own pak choi, or chili plant you can find them here. I had my first turkey and cranberry sandwich of the year and it was so good, it left me wondering why we don't eat that ugly old bird all year round. It came from a local farm and the farmer and his daughter were serving together so it's great to know that I was contributing to a small business rather than a huge faceless corporation. The ready made food is expensive though, so don't be expecting to find any market bargains here. I remember when 'free-range', 'organic' and 'GM free' were the new foodie buzz words, now it's what I've come to expect and I think everyone should have the option of eating well so I think it's a real shame that markets like this also come with a very high price tag.

The food is all overpriced, mainly because the produce is organic or 'artisan', and many of the suppliers are also based at Borough Market. But it was en route to Sloane Square and we fancied spoiling ourselves! The market is small enough to wander around in a few minutes and get everything you desire, but if you're watching the pennies be warned that the stall with the cheaper lettuce may sell the most expensive carrots - so shop around! Also it might be better to get there early. We arrived at 12ish and were limited in choice at the sausage stall and the tomato stall had sold out of tomatoes, tomato juice and passata! We got: some fab pork sausages (£3.99 for six), some delicious spinach and feta and cheddar and leek mini quiches (3 for £5); a steak and ale and Thai curry pie (£3.75 ea i think); a tasty apple and blackberry smoothie (£4 a litre) and lots of fresh veg and eggs. Next time i'm feeling plush i'm going back for the smoothies, quiches and pies! And right now i'm going to put that pie in the oven...

What I love about this market is it has everything I need, but isn't too big, crowded, and overwhelming. Coming from California, I was overjoyed to find high quality fresh kale at such great prices. In addition to great produce, there are a few fish and meat vendors (look for the man with the sundried-tomato turkey burgers..they are great!), bakeries, pie minister, organic food stands, and dairy farmers. A great place for getting great value with a solid selection, without fending against London crowds.

The market consists of almost exclusively food related stalls, offering both cooked and uncooked items. Most are food to take home though a few stalls offer food to eat straightaway, so it is possible to stop here for a bite to eat too. There's a great cheese stall offering exclusively hand produced goat's cheese from their own herd. An amazing variety of cheese which will open your eyes to a range, which may surprise you. You will also find some great bangers from a variety of different suppliers and samples are always available to try. Definitely worth a wander through.

Some of the stalls were selling pies, scotch eggs, fish and chips, Caribbean food, fruit juices and wine, so if you wanted to stop for a bite to eat, there was plenty to choose from. You could also buy veg, eggs, cheese, meat, bread and cake, so lots of tempting things to take home! With this being an unplanned visit I didn't have a huge amount of cash on me and there aren't are any fee-free ATMs immediately nearby, so do remember to take cash! I bought a pack of fat sausages (£3.50), big bottle of Bramley apple juice (£2.50) and an English breakfast scotch egg (£4). It's only a small farmers' market but it's on every week so I will no doubt be back soon now I've found it. I could buy many of the products for less at the Lidl one tube stop away, but the quality is good and I always get a warm fuzzy feeling from buying from local businesses. Quite fancy buying some cheese next time and trying some of the street food. I'll come prepared with a big bag and plenty of cash!

Telegraph Hill farmer's market…read morehas everything that you would expect: Seasonal fruit and vegetables, predominantly from Kent Meat and meat products, including seasonal game from Godmersham in Kent Cakes Delicatessen Breads of various types Cheeses Kentish wines and fruit juices The stalls vary according to seasonality. So so for example, you won't get meats like Game from March to mid August or English tomatoes in mid December. What you will get is 'just-picked' fruit and veg super fresh from the farm and according to season. The bread is made locally from organic ingredients where possible. Cakes are also locally made and delicious. Little of the food is imported (with the exception of the chocolate that graces some of the cakes I guess!) so food miles are low and quality high. Stall holders are friendly and knowledgeable, happy to provide samples and offer tips on dishes and ingredient combinations that make for perfect meals. The farmer's market's take place every third Saturday of the month; most recently on 16th August 2008. Get down there between 10 am and 3pm. UPDATE 22/07/09 A fish stall now regularly makes the trek from Essex (Maldon) which just about completes the loveliness of it all. There is also an excellent stall selling marinated olives, marinated garlic (which is delicious BTW), artichoke hearts and more.

This is a really great local market for local people. You'll have no trouble here…read more What I love about this market is that it's constantly changing.. some weeks there is a guy making fresh sushi, the next there will be French people serving up crepes that smell.. well, ridiculous, frankly. It's like you're by the Seine, not the Thames. I love the stall around the back that sells homemade sauces, chutneys and jams. Again, it's not there every week, but in a way that's good, or else jam and mustard is all I'd eat. Last week, I had the best brownie I've ever tasted, meaning I'm going to have to go to the gym for one extra session this week so I don't feel too guilty when I go back this Saturday. The two downers to this place are: 1. Because of the neighbourghood, and owing to the nature of the produce, it is quite pricey. I don't mind supporting local farmers, but you can end up spending more than you intend. 2. There isn't as much fruit and veg as I'd like ideally. I often go with a list of veggies that I want, only to be leave with just half of them. As Molly K says, it's not somewhere I'd recommend to people who have to travel, but it is worth a look when you're in the area, if only for the heavenly brownies.

However it is not just the picking and the size of the PYO farm that makes this place amazing but its the people that run the farm too. It is family run and they are always every so friendly and welcoming. They are such a popular PYO farm that they even have coach loads of people come along to PYO. When there is no fruit / veg to pick in winter they have boot fairs. However all year round they do have a small farm shop / hut that you can buy produce from such as veg, honey, eggs, cream etc.
