For Mothers day, I ordered an $80. Bouquet of flowers. I requested designers choice with one stipulation, that it be none toxic to cats, no lillys. I also said cat friendly. What I got was a Bouquet with lillys. Our cat was poisoned by lillys once before. They can be deadly to cats. I called but had to leave a message. No one has gotten to me. read more

I'm so disappointed in the service provided by the owner of this establishment. Today, the owner was asked if they delivered flowers later in the day because people work during the day and aren't home to receive them. The owners response was "I don't tell you how to run your business". A simple explanation of their process was all that was needed, not a rude response. Clearly this is a flaw with their company processes. As a regular customer, I can safely say that we will be spending our money elsewhere going forward. I hope others do the same. read more

This is my second time in this shoppe in five years. I figured after five years I should give them another chance - regrettably, and stunningly, this experience was worse than the first. I had a nice young man helping me try to find a small plant to put in my very small planter when another staff member came over to further assist. She found some stones to put in for irrigation and when I asked if she could complete the transplant to my pot she said "yeah, I am in the middle of something but I will just stop everything to help you". I told her "nevermind" and she just walked away from me with my pot and the plant I was going to buy and headed to the back room. I asked for my pot back again and walked out of the store. Five years ago- my son needed a plant for school and it was close to their closing time. I called and asked if I could pay for the plant by phone and they could leave it on the step and I would head that way immediately. The person I spoke to was very clear he had no intention of staying late and I was fine with that. I live five minutes away. They told me they would not leave the plant on the steps "it's too cold". I got there three minutes before they closed and they refused to sell me the plant because he was locking up the store. I have literally only had two experiences with them and both were horrible. How they stay in business is beyond me. I have tried to spend money there both times and both times through their actions pretty much told me they didn't want my business. read more

My daughter recently moved to Maine. I ordered flowers online with instructions to please deliver late in the day. Being only a few blocks away from their new place, shouldn't have been an issue. Downeast delivered at 10am. I would not recommend or use them again. read more

We are sad to say for the huge amount of money we paid for the bouquet we 'thought' we were getting - the very plain bouquet was definitely not worth what we spent. Definitely call a nearby town. Do NOT buy from a florist who has a monopoly on this little community. After speaking to other people living there, and living on a different coast ~ I have found out we could've purchased from a town nearby. Had our sweet Aunt who turned 100 treated special and shown the LOVE we had intended. We've never felt this disappointed in our lives. She loved the flowers because she loves us. But we felt physically ill when we saw what she received. Our Uncle and family who live in that area had been and were until I told them what we spent for her flowers, patrons of this florist for decades. This is how he rewards their loyalty? Heartbreaking We will never reward this business again. The woman who took the call was lovely. But I could tell she had to defer to the owner. I thank her for her warmth on the phone. read more

So I have recently relocated to Kennebunk, ME from Boston. This is my first review as an official Mainer. If you look at my other reviews, you will notice that I don't usually review unless something is particularly good or bad in one direction. Well, let me tell you! Today is Valentine's Day, 2013. I called and made arrangements to pick-up a dozen red roses for my fiance. They took my phone number and asked what time. I said, "After work, maybe 5 or 5:30." They said that would not be a problem and we hung up. So fast forward to 6:00 this evening when i got there, as I got caught up at the office, and I arrive only to see that their standard hours for the entire year are to close at 5:30. "No problem" I thought, as it was Valentine's Day after all, and I could see that the lights were still on and a gentleman was inside. When I got to the door, it was locked. Interesting. So I tapped on the window and got the man's attention inside. HE LOOKED ME DEAD IN THE EYE - AND SHOOK HIS HEAD, NO. I made a gesture that I had called ahead and it was all pre-arranged. ANOTHER HEADSHAKE NO! I was furious. I have never seen such an awful display of customer service. Seriously, it was Valentine's Day! Are you kidding me? Who does this guy think he is turning away customers anyway? Are they just rolling through so many customers that they don't need an over-priced dozen roses for $75? I couldn't believe it. Why didn't they mention they closed at 5:30? They had my phone number - no phone call? Nothing? Seriously? So I went down the street to Heirlooms and Blooms. I called and they said they were closing up but would wait for me. When I got there, they were courteous, professional, pleasant, and cheaper! Do yourself a favor and go visit Heirloom and Blooms. Better to give your business to someone who values their customers. Quite obviously, DownEast Flowers does not! read more

Downeast flowers did all of the flowers for my wedding and I was very pleased. My mom was actually in charge of the flowers for the wedding and she worked with the florist to choose flowers. My mother went on and on about how nice the florist is. She met with a few other florists but she really though Downeast Flowers was the best (it was also more reasonably priced). The florist actually wanted to know about me and my now husband and incorporated that information into his work. He incorporated English Ivy into my bouquet and my husbands boutonniere because he is from England. It was a nice touch. Overall everything went very smoothly with the florist. They were on top of everything and there were no issues. Most importantly, their work was beautiful!!! read more

This is my second experience with this florist. I purchased flowers from Downeast Flowers and they were so helpful, creative and kind! This time, I received a gorgeous bouquet! It was a beautiful arrangement, but not only that, the was the florist wrapped them was exquisite- they made sure there was a water source and finished it off with a beautiful bow and a small flower inside the bow. I worked for a florist in the past and I am very sensitive to details when I see an arrangement. Unfortunately I am very picky, but these people exceed my expectations every time with their attention to detail, excellent designs, kindness and excellent customer service. -1 star actually! Last week my husband and I stopped in to buy some flowers to brighten up my table after this long winter. After walking around the store, I settled on a little bouquet of fresh flowers that had been made up and put in the cooler. The owner (I assume) placed a water source on the stems, wrapped them, placed a lovely little bow on them and we were on our way. I still have some of the flowers in the vase....over a week old, so we thought ok good flowers. I owned (and was a designer) a flower store back in MA and KNOW flowers. That said, fast forward to yesterday...the DAY before Valentine's Day. My husband works the 3:30 PM to 11:30 PM shift. He left early yesterday with the intention of stopping to buy flowers for our daughter who is coming to Maine for V-Day/weekend and some for me. He saw a "beautiful" arrangement of different colored roses in the cooler ($25.00) and told the owner he needed 2 of them. She flat out said "NO" there is only 0ne. My husband asked her if she could make another one as he needed one for our daughter. Again, she flat out refused. My husband was in disbelief and pretty upset and sad!! He then told her that he would have no choice but to stop at the local Hannaford and purchase flowers....which he did. Again, DAY before Valentine's Day and he works the night shift. When I owned my flower store, I did everything possible to make my customers happy. Even if it meant staying a few extra moments to make up an arrangement. Why else are you in business? Especially a business that is so people oriented? Don't you want new customers coming back and telling other people what a great experience you had and what you did to help them out? We always shop local/small shop businesses. All I can think of is that the roses were "old" or from an "odd" arrangement or you made the arrangement to use them up. This is fine. Florist use up their flowers in various ways and "old" can be just a few days old...definitely still able to be sold and usable. If this was the case, it would have been nice if the owner said something to this effect...."sorry, these were the last single roses left and we put them in an arrangement" or something to this effect. The fact that my husband said he will NEVER go back there and that she was rude, is enough in my book to not go back there either. The fact that my husband even thought of going into a Flower shop with the intention of buying us roses instead of going to a supermarket was wonderful. I think the fact that he had no other choice but to purchase roses from Hannaford became a plus. Both dozens of roses are GORGEOUS!! The woman at Hannaford helped him pick them out, wrapped them and this morning I found them ready to be arranged. So, I will be spreading the word to family and friends....we will not be using your shop. Hope your Valentine's Day sales were all you hoped they would be. I have shopped at this store multiple times over the years. I haven't found the staff to be especially kind, courteous or accommodating. And the product selection has not been fantastic at the times I walked through the door. I have only shopped here because of its proximity to my home, but next time I intend to try another establishment, hoping for better customer service, prices, and product selection. read more

Ordered flowers for Mothers Day yesterday before 12. Website says guaranteed delivery same day if ordered by noon. They were not delivered yesterday and they sent me an email, after closing, "We was unable to process your order, because of the volume of work received. We are not open Sunday"!? What? You are a florist that is too busy to complete your orders on Mothers Day? How about this, WORK SUNDAY or maybe don't guarantee delivery! Nice. Now it's Mothers Day and my mom has nothing! I live out of state and its too late to do anything about it! Don't bother with this florist, they are too busy to do their job! read more
