I typically shy away from Harley Dealerships when it comes to working on my bike. That has now changed. I have an older bike, 96 softail on a rigid frame that was put together by a guy in his garage. Long story short, she came with some issues, and most Harley dealers don't want to work on her. Well I was on my way up to the All Harley Bike show and when I stopped to check my map, she quit on me. I'd turn the ignition on and nothing. No headlights, not kickover, nothing. I called Down Home HD and within minutes they had a trailer over to scoop me up. They pulled my bike right in to the service department and worked immediately so I could get back on the road. Their staff was EXTREMELY knowledge and friendly. Just bought another Harley from John Miller at Down Home Harley Davidson. He really knows what he is doing. The exact bike I wanted was not in stock at his or any of the four other dealerships I visited. He brought it in from out of state even though I did not ask him to and declined to leave a deposit which the other dealers required. He gave me the best price out of all (some qoted me ridiculously high prices) and when I was ready he arranged financing at 3.99% - lower than any of my banks or credit unions and insurance through HD at a way lower rate than Geico or Progressive. After the paperwork was done he took me around to the various departmenrs and introduced me to the people running each. Parts, service, HD gear and riding clothes. Also to the sales manager Butch who is the nicest guy in the world. While I was there I decided to get a new leather and had the great pleasure of meeting Cricket, Shannon, Becca and Carrie in the motor clothes department. We were greeted immediately as we walked through the doors and welcomed by a beautifully displayed showroom of vintage and new bikes. The retail sections were merchandised well, and you didn't feel any pressure to buy. The general manager came by to introduce himself. He even gave my DH tips on how to sell his current bike. I loved all the signage including the one that said, "Your wife called and said it was OK" on one of the Electra Glides. Love their sense of humor. After making an appointment to have my wife's 750 street fixed,(oil leak) and having the bike promised several times by the service manager, after a week and a half the bike has still not even made it onto a lift. Got several different excuses from different people. The owner operates out of Texas, so HE doesn't care. The dealership manager is never available, and the service manager told me if I didn't like the way he does his job he'd put the bike outside and I could come pick it up. This is how they deal with a warranty repair. No money to be made. I have never met anyone who has had a good thing to say about the service department at this dealership. read more

Since I bought my 2016 Fat Bob, I've been to no less than 5 Harley Davidson dealerships, looking for advice, accessories and demo seats. All the others claimed that no-one gets the Tallboy seat to demo. Down Home have one and I was encouraged to "put some miles on it". Aside from the seat, their friendly demeanor and general helpful attitude have made an impression on me and I will go there first for any dealership business. I have to acknowledge JT, who installed parts that I bought, and went the extra mile to repair my baffle that was coming out, without charging me for the 30 minutes or so it took him. He's a caring soul, with the customer's best interest at heart. I'll be back. read more

I bought my bike at DHHD and the service with the sale was good. I used to enjoy riding up there from time to time on a Saturday. The service and parts department people were always great to deal with. The problem started when they changed out all of their sales staff. It kind of started to feel predatory. I ended up having a "disagreement" with one of the sales staff. Later that day someone from the dealership left a message on my voice mail using the F word about a dozen times in a 40 second message and never had the courtesy to even leave their name. After emailing the management and never receiving a reply I cancelled a parts order and have never walked through the doors since. This is a shame as I went out of my way to go to a dealer that was further from my house than another HD dealer. I kind of thought I had an HD home but ended up feeling like I was in an elementary school. How can you go back to a place with something so juvenile and unprofessional hanging out there? This may sound small to some people but if you ride, the comradarie is a huge part. As a side note the two guys I ride with, who always rented at DHHD not only stopped renting there but have both bought bikes elsewhere. It is just a shame to see such a good start being marred by out of control staff. read more
