I met regulars who said this was just normal . Nice to know. Second, the food and rooms were well laid out and ideal . They aren't a spa resort ( thank goodness), but designed for fisherman and outdoor exploring guests. VERY CLEAN !!! Big changing mud rooms. Lounge chairs and TV and good internet and cell service and outside gathering area. Beds were comfy ( I'm 6'4" and 220 pounds...). Food times were fun, delicious and varied. 5 star. I NEVER left the table hungry, if I did, it would have been my fault. The fishing and guides were superior. Equipment was first rate and river knowledge was second to none. It was great fun and a successful experience. I'll be back and do my best to bring others and be an ambassador. These are great people that deserve support and all the good things life can deliver. I left 12 hours ago and I'm still smiling like a Cheshire Cat.

Both do everything they can under severely differing conditions to make sure we get into photo- worthy fish......and have learned something new with every trip... (mostly 'cause I have a lot to learn). This is a fishing lodge and all about fishing, So, if you're looking for good accommodations, good food and a great fishing experience, Fisheads is for you. If you're looking for a Marriott, get a room in Durango. Hope to keep going back for another 10 years.

So, I used these folks via Abe's up in Navajo Damn for my fishing day in the San Juan. I can't say…read moreenough positive things from my experience!! I believe they are one of a few various guides that partner with Abe's however according to the guide himself, he highly recommended many of the other guides up there. I had Don for the day and he was great. I didn't just have a great fishing experience but I also had a great time on the river with him as a person too! When you thunk about it, sitting in a small body with someone for 7 hours isn't necessarily an easy surefire good time...there's lots of variables and potential uncomfortable circumstances. That said, Don made this entire day a simple joy. From his patience to my fly fishing "green-ness" to supplying a delicious lunch, to his warm/friendly companionship, it was just a great day I'll have a hard to forgetting! I learned a ton / albeit mostly beginner stuff but stuff I definitely needed to learn none the less. And, one must note - I never thought about work crap the entire time we were fishing...not once I swear! So...mission accomplished!! I would highly recommend "born and raised" as a guide, especially if it's your first time on the San Juan (as it was for me) and/or if you're simply new to fly fishing or even if you're already an experienced angler. You won't be disappointed - trust me!! Thank you Ron!!

This is a large lake reservoir! There are great campgrounds and facilities surrounding the lake…read more There is also a marina with fun activities and rentals with a store and seasonal cafe. There are also some hiking trails connecting the campground areas to the lake. Much if the lake is surrounded by steep cliffs and there aren't , currently, many sandy beach areas, due to the water level dropping, but it is still a nice place to visit!

San Juan river is within walking distance from the camp ground. Never had a bad stay here. Bathrooms are always clean and the park is also kept clean of trash.
