I called one HVAC company up, and and the guy they sent out said that I should get a new furnace. I also called another HVAC company up for a 2nd opinion, and the guy that they sent was a little older, and said that he had seen this before: the seal between the inducer motor and the inducer fan had gotten dried out over the last 14 years, which is understandable. So, he put a few drops of oil on it, and it stopped the noise, and hasn't been a problem 3 days ever since. I'll probably have him come back and replace the seal entirely, but there is no hurry to do so now. According to him, replacing the seal can be an issue because you may need to replace parts when taking the the inducer fan apart, and depending upon how hard it is to get the fan blade off the shaft. But it is a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a new furnace.

Eventually, I had to install a pellet stove to warm our house in winter because it wasn't doing the job. Then leaks in coils began to occur. Enormous electric bills followed. This year February, replaced the coil. May, the compressor got replaced. Now a fan motor doesn't work. $5616 already spent this year, these guys won't even consider a discount for the motor. They want another grand. Unit won't work at all without motor. Apparently they expect a new unit purchased every 10 to 15 years at 20 to 30k. Beware, geothermal is a scam. The cost and constant care of the unit is not saving money.

PRICE GOUGERS Had CROWN HEATING and COOLING come to my…read morehouse to repair my LENNOX air conditioning unit. They came to my house and determined the unit was low on coolant. Service call was $99.00. Technician quoted me $260.62 for up to 2lbs of R410A refrigerant and I foolishly accepted. Technician put in 2lbs of R410A and charged me $259.62 . Guess I got a discount from quote because I am a nice guy. Technician then quoted me $131.00 to come back and perform a level 2 electronic leak test and I agreed to have it done. The technician returned another day to do the test. He went right to the evaporator coil and found a leak. Prior to having them come back for leak test I did some research and discovered LENNOX had a known problem with their evaporator coils which maybe why he went right to the evaporator coil. He informed me it would be $1128.00 to replace evaporator coil with a new one. The unit was installed 8-2017 and was covered under LENNOX warranty for parts only. The $1128.00 was to remove old evaporator coil and replace with new warranty coil and any additional refrigerant would be a additional cost. Based on my prior research I knew CROWN HEATING and COOLING's quote was OUTRAGEOUS and I declined their quote to do the repair and paid $131.00 for the test. To have warranty work done an authorized LENNOX dealer must perform the repairs. I requested several quotes from authorized LENNOX dealers and all quotes were much lower than CROWN HEATING and COOLING. I chose an authorized LENNOX dealer to do the repair and am very pleased I did. Their repair was excellently done and at a reasonable price (will gladly provide their name if anyone requests it). In conclusion I do NOT recommend anyone have repair work done by CROWN HEATING and COOLING unless you enjoy being PRICED GOUGED. Do yourself a favor and get quotes from other dealers and you will see how really bad CROWN HEATING and COOLING is.
