I was very surprised to see the five-star review from April 26, 2019, for Roberts Plumbing. However, please know, BUYER BEWARE! Be sure to scroll down and see that ALL of the other reports; ALL OF WHICH ARE NEGATIVE. I have tried and tried to get Robert and Vaporooter, via the mother company, Douglas Products, to make good on their guarantee, but must now report them on YELP to insure no one else has to go through this.
Be sure to scroll down on Robert's Yelp page and then click further to find: "5 reviews for Robert's Plumbing & Rooter Services that are not currently recommended." (Why would Yelp not show this directly?)
It has been a year since Robert came here to administer the Vaporooter down our lines. I was intrigued by the product's description and thought I had found the perfect solution for our root problems. He charged me $1,000 to do BOTH the east and west sides of our home. His services also came with a guarantee. I also liked the idea of having our lines maintained annually, for a fee. (I continue to have such a relationship with my excellent termite company.)
Then, last October, we started having water pressure issues on the west side of the house. I changed the expensive water pressure valve thinking this was the problem but then had the plumber come back out, with a camera, and he said that the line was filled with roots! As it turned out, Robert did not do the Vaporooter process on the west side of our house...as he claimed he had done! It took several phone calls and emails and then Robert finally re-surfaced. When I told him of our discovery he said he didn't do the west side of our house and then added he'd have to charge me to come back out!
It was useless trying to deal with Robert. He left strange, rambling messages. I then contacted the manufacturer of Vaporooter, Douglas Products. Their Business Development Manager, Justin Fearn, responded but was totally ineffective. Apparently, the mother company has no control over their field people.
Exasperated, I contacted Scott Johnston, Vice President of Operations for Douglas Products, several times -- but he was unresponsive. This is very bad--even horrible--customer service. How can they stand behind their product when their field people are deceiving their clients! For corporate to care less about their customers is beyond my comprehension. Justin Fearn emphasized that they are only the manufacturer of the product. What kind of business doesn't want to stand behind their product and their field people?
As far as I'm concerned we were done a disservice; I was charged for a job that was incomplete. Plus, I didn't know that the job was incomplete and this caused me to spend additional money with another plumber trying to figure out the problem! At the very least he should reimburse me $500 for the other half of the job that was NOT done. This has been such a bad experience, I should just take him to small claims court. SHAME ON ROBERT, VAPOROOTER AND DOUGLAS PRODUCTS! read more
