I went to Central VA Chiropractic after 6-years of low back pain and a 3-year shoulder issue, hoping for any kind of relief. Instead, my pain increased immensely over the course of the 2-week treatment, and I developed new radiating nerve symptoms that I currently am still dealing with 6 months later. As well as this, my pain increased during treatment and the nerve symptoms started while I was seeing her. She was abrasive, rude, and dismissive of my concerns and my pain. On my first visit, Dr. Mary Holland told me I needed an X-ray in order to be treated by her, and she put me on a schedule of massages and adjustments three times a week for two weeks (which ended up going longer). When I asked whether I should remove my glasses, necklace, or belt for the X-ray, she brushed it off, leaving me feeling talked down to. She was dismissive when I mentioned I'd previously seen a different chiropractor and repeatedly told me during appointments that I was "overexplaining" when I tried to describe my pain in more than one location. She was more concerned about getting a single number on a 1-10 scale, than where and how I was actually in pain. Partway through treatment, I developed pain radiating from my shoulder down my arm into my fingers with numbness in my thumb as well as my hips to my feet. When I asked about an MRI before continuing adjustments, Dr. Holland told me I didn't need one and continued treatment. I ended up in tears on the table when she attempted to adjust my neck. She eventually acknowledged an MRI might help, not because it was medically needed, but because my stress about it was interfering with her work. I got a second opinion from an orthopedic specialist instead and did not return. At the beginning of the first appointment, I understood that she also told me not to do any movement at all, including yoga, then was upset with me for not moving enough a week later. I was also sold a supplement from the office that I was later told to stop taking it immediately by my primary care physician. If you're looking for a chiropractor who listens and explains things clearly, I cannot recommend this office.

Horrible encounter…read more On Wednesday 3/1/23 after picking up 3 of my kids we were traveling home. A belt inside my truck snapped and I lost all power to my truck. It took everything I had to get it off the road once I lost power steering I had to fight to turn the vehicle. I managed to get off of 460 and into a parking lot. Unfortunately it was the parking lot to this business. I was able to place the truck between a tree and their sign. I felt like I left a driveway open that lead to the backside and I left the main parking lot clear. I called around 8:30pm and left a lengthy message for the business. I had every intention on coming back the next day and removing the truck. After calling every auto parts store in Lynchburg and surrounding counties no one had the part and it would be 3 days. I finally found the part 2 hours away and my father in law was going to bring it the next day. My 3 year old was throwing a fit so I had given him my phone to watch videos while I was fighting getting my truck off the road. I called the business from my sons phone. On Thursday an employee send several text messages and called multiple times threatening to have my truck towed. At lunch time he turned his phone off an all the messages popped up and he got ahold of me. When I called the lady I spoke to basically wanted me to grovel at her feet for not towing the truck. In all my time I've lived in Appomattox I've never come across anyone who spoke or treated me this way. They called the Sheriffs office about the truck and a deputy determined it wasn't a highway safety concern. The woman who did the calling and texting to my son and answered the phone clearly didn't listen to the lengthy message I left with all my information, instead they just texted and called the number from the caller ID. When I arrived to fix the truck a nice lady came out an apologized for the handling of the situation but at this point the damage was done I only wanted to fix my truck and get out of their way. Completely understand it's their property and they have every right to have me towed but they could've done some things on their part and have some compassion for what happened so late at night. I'll never use or recommend this place based on how they treated me during this ordeal. The photos posted are the text messages and the black scribbles represent where my truck was located.
