My 2009 Honda Civic suddenly popped a Check Engine light and wouldn't shift out of 3rd gear. I thought "oh great, new transmission time and probably a couple grand". Which in reality probably means a new car because this car isn't even worth a couple grand. So I run my car to our normal repair shop but they said they weren't able to work on transmissions. After calling two other shops who said they couldn't get me in for another few days, I came across Abercrombie. Gave them a call on a Friday, mid-morning, and was told, "Bring it right in, we'll have it done today". So I bring the car in and I spoke to Russell, a very friendly guy, who gave me good news, that it likely wasn't the transmission itself but a clutch pressure switch. Russell also gave me an estimate of the repair cost and assured me they'd have it done today. A few hours later, I receive a call from Russell, telling me they were unable to order the part because the Honda delivery drivers were out on their routes already. So, the shop owner drove his own vehicle over to the Honda dealership to get the part to make sure they'd have my car done when they promised. Now THAT is going above and beyond, wow. I came and got the car and it's all fixed up and working. And the price was exactly what Russell had quoted me when I first called in. This is truly exceptional service, the way business ought to be done. I'm really grateful to Abercrombie for getting us back on the road and being so polite and professional. With that one experience, they've made me a customer for life and I will highly recommend them to anyone who needs transmission work.

I was then told I needed a new transmission for $7,000.00because they don't rebuild transmissions. I took my truck to another transmission shop that replaced the sensor and the fluid. For less than a $1000.00 This shop manager and mechanics are a bunch of idiots.

I took my car to AAmco Fairburn Road and Douglasville on June 7, 2022. I left the car and was told…read morethey would check it in a day or two and call me. They called me the following day, and told me that the diagnostics said that the vehicle needed a new throttlebody. Adding, that my transmission needed servicing, because the fluid was black and smelled burned. I authorized repair of the throttlebody, as I had already had the transmission serviced less than 10,000 miles earlier. I told them I would take the car back to my transmission service to have them check it. They called me two days later and said the car was ready. I returned and picked up the car and paid them $652 for the repair. Once I cranked the car up and drove it less than a quarter of a mile, I determined it was doing the same thing and the check engine lights were still coming on. I took the car back and told him what it was doing. They initially tried to tell me there was nothing wrong with it. However, after the mechanic checked it again he determined as I had said, that it was doing the same thing. Therefore, they kept the car again. Over a period of the next week, they told me they had exchanged the original throttlebody for replacement from Ford, and that should be all that was needed. However, once they checked it again? They called me and told me that it was still doing the same thing. At that point, they told me they would have to keep it and bring in a mobile diagnostic vehicle to further diagnose it. After this was done, they told me that the "PCM computer" had to be replaced and they were trying to locate one. The bottom line was they had my car until today 1 July 2022, which was approximately three weeks. This being my work car, I have been unable to work during this time. They said they finally got the part in yesterday and installed it sometime today after which I went by and talk to them and they said they still wanted to test drive it again and they would call me. They finally called me at 4:30 in the afternoon to tell me that the car was ready. When I return to pick up my car they charged me an additional $740 for the PCM computer and their supposed labor. Which was after their original missed diagnosis of the problem of which I had already paid them $650 for. When I got in my car to leave I determined that someone had removed the previous receipt I had paid for the $650. So I went back inside and asked them about that, and their manager "John" told me "oh yeah I've got it right here." After which he dug it out of the stack of papers he had on his desk. My car has a full-time front and rear facing dash cam that records up to eight hours at a time when thr ignition is on. Once I left AAmco I looked at my mirror and determined that someone had pulled the memory chip so that the camera would not record. Apparently? They did not want me reviewing the camera and seeing what they had or had not done on their supposed test drives. When I looked at both of my receipts? I determined that the car had only been driven a total of 3 miles since I initially took it in there. Therefore, that was the total of their so-called test drives. I do not recommend that anyone do business with AAmco in Douglasville Georgia as they are obviously dishonest and only after gouging people for money. I have filed a complaint with the national AAmco representatives, of which is being investigated by their technicians and I have filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Again this franchise is a dishonest franchise and I do not recommend anyone doing business with them under any circumstances.

I brought my car in to have the front bumper replaced, and was **never told** it would cost an additional \$1,500-\$2,000 to have it painted. I was in constant contact with Juan (owner's son), and I totally feel as if he took advantage of me. When I arrived to pick my car up and saw that UGLY bumper, I was floored! And oh, he was VERY apologetic for "not telling me" the bumper came primed AFTER I'd already paid them \$1,100, but made zero effort, ZERO attempt to make it right and retain my business. He had the nerve to say out of his mouth, "Ma'am, we wanted to do our best to save you money and get your back to you as soon as possible." What??!! I am no dummy. I know what primed means. I know that many exterior car part replacements come primed, which is why I texted Juan while they still had my car to request a quote to replace my passenger-side mirror and SPECIFICALLY asked for a bottom line that includes the cost to paint it which, by the way, was a ridiculous amount! He actually tried to tell me it was that expensive because they have to 'program' it. Goodbye! What hurts even more is that I truly believe I was treated differently -- and unfairly -- because I came in alone as a woman. I had taken my car here once before in 2024, but that time my ex-husband was with me. The difference was night and day: the communication was clear, the pricing was fair, and I felt respected. This time, I felt dismissed and misled, like I wasn't taken seriously or worthy of the same transparency. No one should be made to feel like they're being taken advantage of because of their gender. I trusted this shop, and now I feel completely betrayed. Ladies, beware. Spend your hard-earned money at an auto shop that sees you, respects you, and won't prey on your ignorance or your wallet. The lead mechanic/owner is very good at fixing what immediately needs to be fixed and outlining what has more time before it needs to be addressed. This helps me managing repairs over time instead of being hit with an astronomical bill. Most shops try to get you for every bit of work they can get in while they have your attention. J & C is not in the business of fixing every item that needs repair on your car if there is life on item they will make you aware and let you determine if you want to move forward. As a woman, it is important to me that I am being treated fairly and with kindness when engaging in conversations and inquiries with a car repair shop. The shop was very clean which is important to me since often times, people will choose to wait in the shop why their car is being repaired or services. As stated, they were very informative, approachable, and even showed pictures displaying the issue of my car while also providing the severity of it. I had made an appointment but arrived almost ninety minutes early; they took me in, and got to me a bit earlier. The garage is behind a RaceTrac and across from a hospital; it's a busy area, so you have to get in either by going through the RaceTrac parking lot or going down by the hospital and (depending on where you're coming from) maybe doing a U-turn. Not a good or a bad thing; just something to be aware of. Services aren't the cheapest, but they do it right and guarantee their work. Good place, recommended garage.
