Generally, I prefer to "walk-in" to get my haircuts at the barber shop rather than make an appointment. I guess that you can call me "old-school" in that way. I admit that in certain circumstances, I am old fashioned.
I was in need of a haircut while on vacation. Not visiting my regular barber is not ideal but sometimes you just have to go with it, especially when you need a cut. I called Doug's barbershop and spoke with Matt and while he admitted that they do take walk-ins, he suggested that, being a Friday, I should consider making an appointment as Fridays are typically their busiest day. Being in a military base town, I went ahead and took his advice.
Arrived a few minutes early for my appointment and Matt greeted me as I walked in. At 9:00 I was the only customer in the joint which was a little bit of a surprise to me. Matt got me in the chair and was very friendly as I sat down and he got me situated. Being that I was a new customer he asked the usual questions about how I wanted my haircut etc. It had been about three weeks since my last cut which is the usual timeframe between my haircuts. I admit that I am quite picky when it comes to my hair cuts and having a new barber cut my hair does provoke a little bit of anxiety.
Matt did a pretty decent job cutting my hair. I have a fairly short hair style and he actually used the straight razor on the scalp where my fade is to the skin. That was a really nice touch that I had not experienced before and I really appreciated it.
Overall, I had a really nice experience with my first visit to Doug's barbeshop and would highly recommend it.
Note: recently it was called Bonnie and Bob's Barber shop and then was Bob's barber shop. Apparently they have had a few name changes in teh alst few years. read more
