However, the best part is the waitress Lisa! She is ON it every morning, remembers names, always has a smile on her face, and is a literal beam of sunshine. That woman deserves a raise! Truly the best of the best. As for dinner & the bar, we ordered room service twice and everything was perfect. We got a burger and we fully expected it to be soggy. It was as though we had it freshly served in the restaurant. We did wait quite a while (they said it would be 20 minutes and we waited 50), but they quickly called and explained they'd had a rush. We called around 6:30pm so it was understandable. Truly the best food and service. We were never disappointed. Drinks are fantastic and averagely priced. You can't miss with Oscar's!

I wasn't going to look for another restaurant in Portsmouth so I just ate downstairs. Boy, was I lucky! The food at Oscars was absolutely incredible. First, I had a Manhattan prepared by Christie. Top-notch. Service was incredible. Then I had a steak kebab dinner and I have to tell you it is the best kebab steak I ever had. Perfectly prepared vegetables were so fresh and moist. On top of a bed of rice it could not have been better. I cannot recommend this place Hylie enough. Again I was here because I'm in the hotel and I didn't wanna travel around Portsmouth to find a place. I'm glad I stayed here. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I'm kicking myself for not visiting sooner! Scratch burgers are having a resurgence with places like Smashburger, Shake Shack, In-Out etc. This is a Portsmouth Classic if you are looking for a local flavor of a scratch burger. We both tried the iconic Big Mo, and wow--what a burger. Freshly made, perfectly cooked, and great flavor. The inside seating is cozy and nostalgic, with a counter option for a more classic diner vibe. Also, you can enjoy your meal in the comfort of your car, true drive-in style. What truly set this experience apart for me was learning the rich history of Jim Dandy. I was fascinated to discover that the business was started in 1965 by a former owner of three Frisch's Big Boy locations in the Portsmouth area. The story behind its origins added a whole new layer of appreciation for this local treasure. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by Jim Dandy. It's not just a meal; it's a bite of Portsmouth's history served with a side of charm.

It was hard to decide what to order as the menu selection was great. I opted for the half panini half salad combo and got the chicken apricot sandwich with the raspberry romaine salad- hold the onions, add blue cheese. My boyfriend had the Boneyfiddle Club panini and enjoyed it. Both came with plenty of chips and a pickle spear. I wish more restaurants had this kind of menu and vibe! Fresh options that are unique flavor combinations. There are plenty of tables and outdoor sidewalk tables with full service. I'd recommend Market Street Cafe!

We were greeted by a waitress who never gave her name and was quite bothered we were there. Drinks served including two hot coffees which we were charged for every refill?!?!? It was coffee. Nothing special $3.00 black coffee and $3.00 for Every. Single. Refill. Then we broke a glass. The waitress was notified when we accidentally spilled a water and the glass broke. She did nothing. I cleaned it up with a toddler on my lap with zero help from the waitress just more "why are you here? Ruin my life looks". She brought me a rag upon my request. And tossed it to me. Ummmmm ok, I guess I will just clean up this broken glass with a toddler on my lap. The rudeness continued with the only other girl there, presumably the manager, when she irritatingly asked, who broke a glass?, in her best mom voice. We received our food and had to ask for the grilled cheese that was ordered and forgotten in the back, which was delivered after an eye roll and an annoying, "oh, right". The only other time we saw the waitress was when she tossed our checks on the table without saying a word, oh wait we did see the waitress one more time, eating a cookie at the counter where you pay asking if it had nuts in it. A three top walked in after we were done eating so please understand the waitress who couldn't be bothered by customers was not too busy. brought my out of town family here for some local vibes and good food.
