My son has been taking lessons with Matt for quite some time now and through the years what he is learning with be with him the rest of his life. Matt has the capability to teach to students in the style they need, not a one size fits all! Matt has much knowledge of percussion and is a delight to know! My son started out in elementary school learning about music and quickly realized he loved drums. A child with Autism, no coordination and high intellect, he listened to Matt and developed his skills through repetition, lots of repetition! There is a calming affect to children involved in music, for our case, percussion assists with sensory input! The life of a drummer???? Always tapping on something, it's a good thing! DBM teaches all genres of music, sponsors platforms for students to put their talent to great use through programs for students to perform and network. Double bar music is a great place for music lessons, the teachers go out of their way to make students feel comfortable which is key for making great music. Kelsey is a marvelous voice teacher with the credentials to back it up, she's certified in all kinds of important vocal training programs that are important but she's also cool and down to earth. She's also a role model for other young women because she runs the whole business with her mom and sister AND performs in a band!! THATS A HUGE DEAL. It is so important to have an instructor who is fully dedicated to doing voice lessons and who is in touch with the music scene. MANY PEOPLE WHO TEACH IN THE ARTS ARE OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE ART WORLD. KELSEY IS SUPER IN TOUCH AND IS A REAL LIFE PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN. I came this winter as a first time piano player. I had goals of learning to read sheet music and becoming familiar with some short songs. At first, I thought the half hour sessions would be too short but later realized they are perfect for learning enough to keep you busy on new things for the following week. I worked with Kelsey and found her to be a great teacher. She explains concepts well and has a nice way giving constructive critique. Double Bar Music is the best place to go if your looking for a friendly staff, and great lessons. They're lessons range from singing, to drums, piano, and many more!! They also hold very good ensembles, and it's run by a couple, and, of course their dog, Danny. But don't worry, he doesn't get in the way. Their prices for singing are 80$ a month. And it's really good their. I really recommend to go there is your looking for and lessons. DBM is a fantastic music shop! We love the live music experiences they offer! My son has been taking voice lessons for almost 2 years here and he has improved so much. He also has learned how to care for his voice. He loves their music shop environment! He gets very inspired hearing all the different types of lessons going on at the same time in different rooms. I love this place! It's my first stop in the area for music lessons from smart, friendly teachers who know their stuff. The shop itself is small but lovely. The instrument selection is very small but DBM is more of a school than a store. I've taken lessons here as an adult and taken my daughter here for lessons as well. We both had great experiences. Great place- no matter your skill level. My son takes sax lessons with Corey. He enjoys each lesson and looks forward to it each week. Corey is fun and really helps his students excel and find joy doing it. We have seen a huge improvement with our son.
