I don't like posting negative reviews, but I hope this can be taken as constructive feedback. I came in for a blowout and was disappointed with the experience. There was no consultation at all. As soon as I arrived, I was taken straight to the shampoo bowl, so there was never an opportunity to discuss the style I wanted, my expectations, or even assess my hair while it was dry. A consultation is one of the most important parts of a service. I was offered tea in a miniature styrofoam cup that honestly made me think it was a joke at first. I was later charged with an additional $15 for long hair, which was never discussed beforehand, this is why consultation and pricing is important before the service begins. The shampoo felt rushed and not thorough. My scalp did not feel clean after, and it seemed like most of the shampoo was focused on the ends rather than the roots. The final result was not what I asked for. I was told I would have curls, but my hair came out mostly straight, frizzy, and with very little style. For a service that came out to $75--and with one of the higher-priced stylists--I expected a much better result. The reason I'm not giving 1 star is because the salon was clean and the appointment was quick. I was in and out fast, which I appreciated. I did see other clients who seemed happy with their stylists. However, as someone who regularly gets blowouts in New York City, I have received much more personalized service and better results at similar price points. read more

The first time I came here was for a haircut with Chrissy. She was amazing. I wanted to go a lot shorter and she gave me a great cut and educated me on my hair and how to maintain especially because I get the keratin treatment. A couple months later, I decided to book another appointment with her for a trim but she was out. The salon scheduled another sylist and I was very hesitant as loved Chrissy. I decided to go ahead and booked the appointment with Jasmin and she did not disappoint. She convinced me to get a hair treatment as I told her some of my concerns regarding the health of my hair. I got a simple/trim haircut (all one length with a few short pieces in the front). I wanted to go shorter and she convinced me this length was perfect for my face shape. Mens cut for $50 but it was not even worth it. I went here for the Aveda level quality, however, this place did not cut my hair with any percison. My bangs are uneven and the short spiky cut I wanted end up being more or a ski slope in the front when it was styled and uneven bangs. I love Dorjon! I can enter feeling "blah" and leave feeling fabulous. I've been going there for at least four years. Aveda uses natural products that leave your hair feeling healthy and beautiful. The location of the salon is great, as it's in Town Center Mall right between Macy's and Sak's. You can go shopping or grab a bite after. Everyone is friendly, the salon is kept clean, inviting, and nicely decorated. If you're looking for a "budget" salon, this might not be it, but they'll do tremendous work. read more

Horrible experience. Who knew getting a simple toner could ruin your hair? The stylist spent almost no time with me before she rushed off too another client. Didn't think much of it until I noticed the time had "passed" that she said she was going to leave the toner in my hair. LO and behold she left my hair , which has cost me so much money and time, with a hideous demarcation line of dark 0 blending of the toner into my hair, she just slapped it on straight and now I have striped hair. I asked the stylist to focus the toner on the top part of my head, where I have the most brass, but I did not know/expect that she would leave me striped I've NEVER had this happen before ANYWHERE. Unless I've "done" my hair at home which I haven't really done since I have 16. I called and the receptionist was very kind and told me I could come in to get it "done by someone else" but the way my hair was left makes me too scared to come back and have them "fix it" and possibly make it worse A $35 tone is too good to be true, I suggest not coming here if you value your hair. I live in the NYC area. My last three hair appointments were at a high-end salon that shall remain nameless but that specializes in curly hair. First time I went I put myself completely in their hands. In drying my hair, they created these "boucles" -- individual curls that made me look like the love child of Bob Marley and Idina Menzel (yes, I pronounced her name correctly). I gave it two more tries with them; asked for layers, never got them. Asked for my hair to be dried differently, never happened. So when I was in Boca for a few days, I thought, "someone's got to do something with this hair!" I've always used Aveda products and saw that Dorjon was nearby. I figured, why not? Smartest. Move. Ever. (At least when it comes to my hair.) They fit me in for an appointment right away, and every person, from the person who washed by hair, to the woman who did my color, to the stylist could not have been nicer. I don't remember the last time my color looked this good -- or the last time I emerged without a headband of black on my skin from the dye. Tony was amazing. He looked at me and immediately said, "You need layers!" I was so excited that I was finally going to get what I'd been seeking for almost a year. I could not have been happier with what he did -- and now, a few weeks later, I can see how nicely it's growing as well. I know I can't zip down to Boca every time I need my hair styled -- but for those of you who live there, I highly recommend this salon! read more

I will NEVER use this hair salon again. I came in tonight to see stylist "Selma", asking for a simple trim with some light layers in the front, specifically and very clearly asking for as LITTLE length as possible to be taken off and to simply add some light layers in the front (emphasizing that I did not want to lose length in the back). I also did not want my stylist to use shampoo on my hair or blow dry it. She insisted on doing both. I walked into the salon with medium-long hair and left the salon with short hair. For the "trim" with "light layers" I requested, my stylist removed about 3.5 inches of my hair that I spent a full year growing. I am beyond upset. I do not recommend anyone coming here ever if you want anything close to what you ask your stylist for. read more

Do not come here for anything other than single process. The hair colorists do NOT know how to do any slightly more complicated color. I had highlights done here that were thick, took over the whole top of my head and nothing towards the bottom. To make it worse it was the complete opposite of the photo I showed her. When I got home I realized the whole area around my face was a solid black color. I returned the next day to have it corrected, and yes they were nice to have me come back. They said this other colorist had experience. Well, she made the issue worse. Instead of doing lowlights to diffuse the glob of yellow on my head, she added more and made the mess worse. When I finally went to a reputable salon, they were concerned that my hair has been damaged with innapropriately done highlights. It was truly awful. To make matters worse, the owner Joseph was rude and condescending. All he had to say was that his staff are the best, and why did I not say anything when I was there. The colorists were very nice and I felt bad and really just wanted to leave. Seeing myself in the mirror at home and having my friends and family look at me horrified confirmed the disaster they had done to my hair. Joseph the owner was defensive and aggressive and nasty and hung up the phone on me. I was not rude at any point to him but he did not like my concern about his colorists and told me as much. Careful coming here to get highlights. They don't know what they are doing. And the owner... rude and no customer service. read more

I had an awful experience at this salon. The stylist Celma was styling my hair and another customers hair at the same time. My hair appointment was made for 11am which I was on time for. My stylist took me in for a wash and started cutting my hair when the customer beside me started arguing with me about her being there since 9 am, saying that she must be dealt with as priority. This is when I started to have a BAD feeling. Mind you, it's 11:45 am at this point- 45 minutes into my appointment. Not sure what that was about but none the less my stylist stopped in the MIDDLE of my haircut service to finish her hair. My hair cut turned out so horribly. The haircut was botchy and unfinished. Being that I was very unhappy with my service I was told to come back later so they could fix and blend my hair. I called before returning, was told to come back now by the receptionist so I made a 35 minute drive from Boynton to Boca and when I arrived... they told me that they cannot help me, the stylist would not come to speak with me, there was no manager to handle the situation and the receptionist had no solutions for me. So I asked her for her name which she did not provide but she did give her managers name "Maryann" who has not reached out to resolve the issue whatsoever. I strongly do not recommend this place. The staff is clearly unorganized, and can not cater to their customers with any professionalism. read more

I started writing this review just before the pandemic (February 2020): this is an update. I was initially very apprehensive coming here: I have never had a good haircut in Boca. Maybe I'm too picky or my hair is uncontrollable, but I'd gone to Aveda salons up north and liked the products, so I figured at the very worst my hair would grow back. Jennifer both cut and colored (hilites) my hair and I really, really love it! My hair is very curly in the front, wavy on top but straight in the back. I don't like using product or blowing out my hair. Anyway, her cut took advantage of all the crazy different types of hair I have and I just love it. UPDATE: I didn't get my hair cut for almost 9 months! It grew out beautifully but was really long. We are snowbirds and when we returned to Florida, I checked to see if Jennifer was still there (sure she wasn't), and she was! So I got a totally different cut/hilites -- again, Jennifer did a great job. When you enter the salon (after waiting in your car to be called), your temperature is taken and you are asked about any covid indicators/contacts. Every other station is empty and everything is cleaned all the time. The only problem I had was sitting in a chair wearing a mask for a couple of hours but it was well worth it. read more

I love Dorjon Aveda Salon!!! I had Emily as my stylist and color specialist and she did an amazing job. She took her time and she made sure I was comfortable. She was very professional and made sure I got the look I wanted. She colored, cut, and styled my hair! I wanted a brighter and more ash look for my dark hair and I got the look I wanted in one session. I had a honey color highlights before but she really brightened my look to make it more of an ash blonde so I can rock it down here in sunny florida. My hair feels healthy and shiny and I plan to go back for a protein treatment every 6-8 weeks. I definitely recommend Emily S. She is beautiful and such a doll. read more

Too many unqualified people working at this salon. I have been going there for years and have stuck to the same 1 or 2 stylists, who are great (1 recently left and I followed her to another salon). I made the mistake of booking a single process color with someone new and it was poorly executed. When this was brought up to the salon, I was told that the permanent color would fade in weeks and probably settle into a better color. This was the final straw for me. I have experienced far too many poorly executed color/toner applications (and 1 outright creepy male stylist who would argue/yell at clients) to come back. It was a convenient location for me, but not worth the inconsistency. I once took my son for a haircut and the inexperienced stylist cried over him and another stylist had to take over - he was in the chair for 3 hours. Overall, a positive experience. Had my haircut by Brooke. The wash and conditioning portion was a bit of a letdown. Where was the typical Aveda head massage? I started to get a bit worried at this stage, but Brooke really took her time to listen to what I wanted. She cut my hair standing up, and took her time. I asked her to flatiron my hair at the end, and she said it was extra. But, she did it anyway and did not charge me. Paid $55+ tip. If I'm back in Boca and need a haircut, I'll be back. read more

I've never had a worse experience with my hair. After spending over 200 dollars for cut and color, I walk out of the salon just to realize that one side of my hair is about 2 and a half inches longer than the other side. I returned immediately to have a master stylist fix it and then the final result was NOT a trim like I asked for, my hair was chopped. Upon asking for a refund and calling multiple times, I had rude and snarky "owners" in my face telling me I'm "just trying to get a free haircut". I even showed a photo of my horrible hair. Biggest waste of money and not to mention my hair is still uneven, the highlights were randomly placed.. I even had someone ask me if a streak in my hair was a birth mark. Horrible stylists and even more horrible owners. Never again. read more

She really showed how much she appreciate to take good care of me. She provided me with a world class service. She offered me new products, gave demonstration and sample of the new product. I've had multiple haircuts here in the past, all were fine until today. I had to see someone new because the person I was meant to see was sick--I'm not sure of the name of the person I was reschedule with, but she was horrible. She repeatedly ignored what I said. I asked for 3-4 inches off and she took off at least 6. I told her I part my hair to the side and she insisted on cutting it based on a middle part--including the bangs "in case I decide to part it differently and change it up because cutting it in the middle makes it more versatile." I told her I never change it up but she didn't listen. The worst offense though, and the reason I left crying, was that, after I told her at least 5 times that I wanted my curtain bangs to tuck entirely behind my ear, including the shortest pieces, she cut them so the shortest pieces were at my eyebrow, with most of them falling into my eye. She didn't apologize and kept saying they wouldn't get in my face.... Of course they would??? And she kept saying they'd be fine once they grew out... but what about in the meantime? She knew I was leaving for a long vacation this same day, out of the country--I now have to figure out how to unpack and repack hair styling tools and a converter at the last minute (none of which I have with me) because these pieces will dry horribly and get in my face. Plus, now I will have to get up earlier before work to deal with these annoying pieces. She then tried to hairspray them to the side, I assume so the people at the front desk wouldn't see, and they got all crusty. At the front desk, I explained what happened, and the manager said that they would not comp this haircut even though it is nowhere near what I asked for and absolutely ruined my hair, but that if I decide to come back in the future my next haircut would be free... that is insane customer service. Why on earth would I come back, and how could I be charged for this?? read more

Let me start by saying I'm very picky about my hair. I have very long dirty blonde to light brown hair naturally and stay more blonde via highlights. I've gone four times now to this salon for full highlights and cut and I always leave happy. Not one bad result. Lauren's micro highlights are beautiful (you will NOT look like a zebra) and she takes half the time as other stylists on my long hair. As the highlights grow out they blend so naturally, you can't tell when I'm due to re-highlight. For every cut, I've told Lauren what I wanted, and she delivers or exceeds expectations. I drive from the Coral Springs/parkland area and would drive further if necessary because it's worth it. read more

I was in tears when I left and I'll tell you why. I'm an Aveda graduate. I graduated 6 years ago and I do hair on the side. I worked in a salon for 3 years and decided I missed the medical field. Years before doing hair I was a pharmacy and veterinary technician. So I went back. And I do many loyal hair clients on the side. I work almost 50 hours a week now and I thought man... I can't remember the last Time I had a nice blow dry in a salon. Sometimes it just feels good to be pampered although I color, cut and blow my own hair now that I know how to lol. Anyways... I decided hey why not. I scheduled an appointment with them. They are located very close to our pharmacy. I don't get off work until 7pm so I made a later appointment. Their open until 9 so I felt excited. I come in and she sits me down and I told her I was an Aveda graduate as well. We talked about certain teachers for a minute. She shampooed me which wasn't bad. As soon as she started her services I just felt rushed. She was in a rush. She wasn't into making my experience a great one. When I was a stylist I never in my life did this to anyone. She sat me down to blow dry my hair and starts ripping her brush from the top of my scalp to the ends where knots were. Breaking my hair. No stylist has ever ever done this to me. Then she starts blowing allllll my hair with this flat brush until it's about 99% dry. It's pretty much all dry and frizzy when she stops. She takes one section on the top of my head and pins it. Then she takes her round brush and takes HUGE HUGE SECTIONS at a time and blows it w her blow dryer. She was burning my neck and scalp with it. I was so embarrassed because she knew I was a student from the same school. I was just honestly speechless. I wanted to be like are you fking kidding me?! Because I'm not the type to ever complain I just wanted a nice relaxing service. I don't ask for much geez. when she was done my hair was sticking up in the front. I looked in the mirror and she goes do you need any hair spray I said no... I got up and walked to the front just speechless and sad. Sad why? Because I never spend money on myself. I always do my own hair. I was just really really looking forward to this. It really hurt me bc I can't afford things like this often. I work my ass off to pay my bills and get by. This girl didn't give a shit about me. Least that's how I felt. The young man at the register said how was your service. I said honestly I'm very upset I felt so rushed and my hair looks ridiculous. He goes I'm so sorry to hear that maybe there's something my manager can do but they aren't here now. I said ok I'll call tomorrow....... Omg right when I thought to myself maybe if I vent to the manager something can be done. I just spent $35 on a shitty service and blow dry. I call and ask for her. She gets on the phone and this is clearly how the convo went. Hi I'm Maryann how can I help you? I said I was there last night I felt my blow dry was rushed. She said she looked up the time and told me usually we get our blow dries done under 30 minutes. I said well my appt was for 7 and I felt completely rushed the girl didn't even section my hair. She goes well we close at 9...... I just paused and said I'm sorry what? She goes we close at 9 so there shouldn't of been any rush involved. I was speechless. If this girl blew her hair the way she did mine she would of understood me 100%. I'm not a complainer I don't do this crap ever. I was so shocked w the managers response to me. I said listen I'm a stylist myself I never have time to treat myself anymore and thought it would be nice and the girl didn't even section my hair when she dried it?!!? She goes oh well we work fast here maybe your just being critical on her way of being a stylist. I said wowwwww. I said I can't believe what I'm hearing out of a managers mouth?!? She goes you left here happy I don't know what you want me to do. I can't refund you.
