After checking in at the office, I headed out to do the work, and this wonderful man immediately came with me offering his help. Less than 10 minutes later, I was on my way home. It was during that small period of time that this giant of a man took away my overwhelming load of concern...and never broke a sweat, never stopped smiling and asked how else he could help. To many, it sounds pretty simple. For me, an 82yo woman, it was a gargantuan gift! His name is Roosevelt, and I want him to know of my gratitude. I'm sending a small gift, but he is worth so much more. Thank you, Roosevelt!!!

When we first bought our house, we discovered that waste/recycling were not included in our taxes…read more So, we set out on the journey to find a waste/recycling company that truly did recycling. We found one, only to be told 4 months later that they would no longer be doing recycling. We paid this company more so that we could have recycling and decided that we didn't need to pay them more if they wouldn't provide a service that we desperately believe in. So, we set out on a new quest to find a company who could help. Guess what. One doesn't exist that services our subdivision. So, we started doing a little research and soon discovered that we could drop our waste/recycling off at one of the Dorchester County Solid Waste's convenience locations. We're sold. We typically take a bag of trash every two weeks, and we take all of our recycling. This place accepts aluminum/metal, cardboard, paper, plastic, glass, tires, carpet, styrofoam, household bagged trash, and large items. Let's face it; it's a dump. but, for a dump, it's actually pretty cool. I will say that those who work there never offer to help, but I'm not sure that it's the job to do so. They are responsible for keeping the area clean and traffic flowing, and they do a good job of it. If you're over having someone pick up your trash but not having recycling service, you might consider dumping your trash collector and visiting the dump.

It is easy to find and convenient to drop off many things you wish to dispose of that you cannot just leave with your weekly trash. They accept large appliances (ie:washers), car batteries, cardboard, household electronics, tires, oil and gasoline, aluminum cans and mixed paper. They have several different containers to dispose of each different item. Simply drive up to the area and then you place it inside. This location is staffed during daytime hours and can assist with directions on what goes where, and answer questions. There is also a swap shop that you can place items for others to take ownership of if you wish to do so. Either way, here is where you can dispose of many old items you cannot just put out in your trash. Easy to find, and easy to use.
