The Dopey Dinner on Duke Street is everything a greasy spoon cafe should be. The tables are covered with plastic, red and white chequered tablecloths; the grub is good and the staff are as Glaswegian as it gets, with their broad accents and no nonsense patter, referring to you as "hen" and "sweetheart".
I like to come here on the occasional weekend, as their fry ups are the very best cure for a hangover. It's a small place, which makes for a cosy atmosphere to enjoy a mug of milky tea, a good old greasy breakfast and a read of one of their complimentary trashy tabloids - perfect for a lazy Saturday morning or to heal a hangover. With a variety of options on the menu, including ever changing specials and usuals such as pies and 'pieces' - this place is a classic Dennistoun diner. What I love about The Dopey Diner is that it is unassuming and unpretentious; what you see is what you get, which is a warmhearted wee diner that is loved by locals and is definitely worth a visit. read more
