We…read morefound that Nightingale Supper Club was closeby to our airbnb and well rated so we made reservations. When we were shopping elsewhere in Door County and a local mentioned that their favorite supper club in Door County is Nightingale, we knew we were in for a treat. An indeed we were! In true supper fashion, we began our experience in the bar for cocktails. I was delighted to find a traditional old fashioned on the menu and so that's what I ordered. It was made with Woodford and in traditional style, no wash. It was pitch perfect. Once we transitioned to the dining room, we ordered whitefish cakes for an appetizer, which were served with a perfectly savory red pepper remoulade. They were delicious. Each evening they have a nightly special. We were there on a Wednesday. The Wednesday special is the Chef Special, which is the chef's choice of unique creation. The evening I was there was a pasta dish with a creamy pesto and a balsamic drizzle. It was divine. Throughout the evening, from the bar to hostess to the dining room, the service was lovely. The prices are very reasonable for a supper club and the atmosphere is all cozy candlelight. Get to it!

TL;DR: Excellent customer service, friendly, and followed through with my request, even a week after I had made it. A few weeks ago my father in-law messaged me asking to keep an eye open for New Belgium Oakspire beer. It's a limited release and he was a fan last year (which was a chore to find) and he wasn't to get some if I ran across any. I went to New Beligiums website and found that the nearest grocery store that carried it was Econofoods in Sturgeon Bay. Sturgeon Bay is a 2 hour drive from my home, but I like taking drives and it was autumn so I figured, screw it, I will take half a day off work and take a drive to get some beer for my in-law (and a 6 pack for myself). I called Econofoods asking if they had the beer. They took my number down and said they would check and call me back. The made good on this and called me in about 15 minutes, letting me know that they had the beer and that they would set however many I wanted aside for me to come and pick up. It was raining cats and dogs when I left, so my idea of a nice autumn drive went out the window. Even better, once I got into town my cars check engine light came on. I didn't think much of it, but almost immediately after getting onto bridge on 57 my car gave me a warning that my transmission was overheating. Yikes! I pulled over, found a mechanic, and got into a loner car and then headed over to Econofoods. They tons of the beer I was looking for, I loaded up the cart (completely forgetting that they had set aside beer for me) and headed home. A week later, about when I was going to return to pick up my car, I received a voice mail from Econofoods saying that they still had my beer up at the desk and asked me if I was going to be coming in to pick it up. A WEEK LATER. I felt like a total dick for leaving them hanging like that, but was taken back by the fact that not only had they held onto it for me, but that they took the time to call me back and leave me a message. Needless to say when I picked up my car I swung over to Econofoods, apologized for waiting so long to pick up my beer, and bought the 3 6 packs they set aside for me.

We were seated right away, they weren't too busy even though we were there during the height of tourism season. It seems like they have some local regulars, which is always a good sign. The restaurant was dimly lit and nicely decorated, definitely an upscale atmosphere. We were so, so excited to find that Crate was a Coca Cola establishment. Those seem to be few and far between in Door County. So we happily ordered some Diet Cokes, and some refills. Come to find out later, they were $3 each!! I had a vegetarian sushi roll, and Deb ordered a Ramen bowl. They were pricy, but not more than one might expect from a touristy area. However, comma. $20 Crab Rangoons? Surely these must be some amazing rangoons, mother. We had to try. My sushi roll was fine, maybe a bit heavy on the vinegar from the sauce that was drizzled on it. The Crab Rangoons were hot and fresh, but honestly not any more amazing than those from my local Chinese restaurant. I likely wouldn't order them again at this price. If I am in the area again, I'd go to Crate if that is what the group wants to do. For me personally, it was just a bit too expensive for what it was.

Parking on historic 3rd Ave was easier than expected, probably due to the fact it was Sunday and most shops had closed by 4 p.m. We walked in and were greeted warmly, then settled into a nice booth to check out the menus. The menu was on the small side, but I noticed a pork belly ramen that sounded tempting. I ordered it without the pork belly though--my gut told me to skip it this time. My friend ordered a vegetarian sushi with tofu. We also shared six crab rangoon. They cost $20. Yes, TWENTY bucks! They were tasty, but honestly, nothing to write home about. We were happy to see it was a Coke place and ordered diet cokes and a refill. After the hot day, we were parched! But then the surprise hit: each diet coke was $3, and refills weren't free. We weren't warned beforehand, but okay. All told, with ramen, half the crab rangoon, two diet cokes, and tip, my meal alone bill topped $50. For the price, I expected a bit more. Probably won't be back if I'm ever back in the area.
