The only star I give is for several of the PSW staff who have gone above and beyond their daily duties. Communication is virtually non-existent!! It feels like you literally have to beg to get anything done or for anyone to pay attention! I went to every Manager and many PSW, every week with the same issues, the same concerns! It seems ok for a short time, then it is right back to how it was before!! The stress, anxiety and frustration that I have had to deal with in the past 6 years is ridiculous!! It goes from my dad having no clothing as they are/were so far behind in laundry to getting his wheel chair cleaned because it was absolutely disgusting!

As soon as his health started to drastically decline they took an opportunity to squeeze as much money from myself and other family members. They claim his government subsidized room was dependent on his Notice of Assessment which was provided, however it was late and because of this they were unable to backdate his room expenses (a lie as this situation has happened before). They continue to harass me and my family and refuse to look into their application process in order to remedy the situation. This has all occurred 3 weeks before Christmas!! Whatever you do... do not sign any document stating you are financially responsible for your parent or loved one, they cannot legally evict that person so don't sign!!!

The new owner is very kind and we can see where she is trying her utmost to make the transition as smooth as possible for all the residents. Change is always difficult at first for so many, but she works very diligently at putting the minds of the elderly residents at ease. My father who is 91 found Aberdeen Gardens while searching for respite care for my 91 year old…read moremother while he needed to have surgery. They were invited by Rachel Carver, Assistant Executive Director, to join the residents for a complimentary lunch before making a decision. My mother is ciliac and the chef customized a beautiful salad for her enjoyment. They were also taken on a tour of Aberdeen Gardens and she was shown the room she would stay in. My parents were so impressed with both the retirment home and its amenities, but the real decision was made after meeting Rachel and the amazing staff. I live in Atlanta, GA and arrived in Hamilton the day of my father's surgery. I visited my mother at Aberdeen and was immediately welcomed by the lovely staff at the front desk and was immediately taken to be introduced to Rachel and Nicole Barrett, Director of Care. They immediately updated me on my mother's care and after visiting her I saw that she is actually learning some things to help her to be more independent once she goes home. My mother is not able to get out of bed on her own, dress herself or know when to take her pills. The staff at Aberdeen make sure she is bathed and dressed and she enjoys going for meals in the dining room. There is also live entertainment and my mother was able to have her hair styled once a week, which is fantastic. We had to extend my mother's stay due to my father's recovery time and Rachel and Nicole said they would be able to accomodate the request, which was a huge relief. My mother goes home in two days, and to say our family is eternally grateful to the entire staff of Aberdeen Gardens is an understatement. I truly hope that one day, if the need arises, that my parents will become full time residents at Aberdeen Gardens where my family knows they will be very, very happy! Thank you to everyone! My mother experienced, bed bugs ( which they lied they had a problem) neglect, and horrible treatment from some staff members. Good luck with the black mold thats coming in the new build as well from all the water damage they had during the build. They are pretty on the outside but what goes on once your there ......I wouldn't put my dog in that home!
