That's IT. This is a small unpretentious place, almost deserted even at noon on a weekday. The menu specializes in shrimp, but I ordered tamales, partly to see if they had them, as many places with tamales on the menu are always out. They were there. Moderately small, with a reasonable amount of pork, and a very light masa that was tasty when hot but became dry and crumbly as it cooled. An honest tamale, though. Came a la carte, but I ordered rice and beans on the side. Delicious rice, ok beans. I gave them an extra star for having sopapillas for dessert. Very light dough, puffed up but not so much that you could tear it open and put the honey inside. I drizzled it on the outside instead. For yes, it came with a squeeze bottle of honey, and cinnamon already sprinkled on it. A delicious sopapilla. But then I took the extra star away again because the restrooms were broken. The women's had an out of order sign on the door, and the men's WAS out of order. The flush handle didn't work. It wasn't attached to anything. I told this to the server, but no response.

Four of us, including a vegan and a picky eater, loved everything we ate. My husband had the pork tacos (pastor, I think he said) and chorizo tacos, and he raved. They were more of a street-style taco, served with fresh lime to squeeze over. Very fresh! I am a big fan of enchiladas and had the enchiladas rojas. They were more authentic than Tex Mex (everything here is), but a great proportion of sauce to cheese to enchilada. With a bit of the spicy salsa (yowza!) or pico (the pico is ah-MAYYY-zing!), just mmmmmmmMMMMMM. So good! Picky Eater (our 18 yo son) got 3 burritos with just ground beef and cheese inside. He was in heaven. Vegan (our 15 yo dgtr) got the fries and some chips and guac. She was fighting us ALL off her food. That GUACCC!!! Yum, yum, YUM. Just yum. And they serve beer, too! Y'all. This little restaurant is a gem. My husband wants to go back this morning for breakfast. You just have to check it out if you find yourself in Garden City. (PS: I use Yelp all the time, but this is my first-ever review. I am usually WAY too lazy for that!)

They need to check on each table more than just one to 3 time while customers are dinning.
