For a time I took my VW to Gordie's. After having some bad experiences there I started going here…read more I've since gotten rid of the VW, but have continued taking all my cars to Ace for oil changes and everything else. Their pricing is reasonable, the staff are helpful, professional, and nice. They also work on all makes/models. They fixed the VW many times, and now have done jobs on my Prius (oil changes, new coolant flow control valve) and my Ford (oil changes, new intake manifold) The only downside I can think of is that they can get very busy (probably because they're so good), So sometimes they have to schedule you a week out or more. They are always willing to explain more about any job/issue and will take you out and show you what they fixed if you ask. The charges are reasonable and you can always get an estimate before any work is done. I recommend Ace to anyone needing automotive work.

From my first contact with Steve to discuss my issue with my AC, and then setting up a service time was impressive. Steve was very communicative with me, both in person and messages left on my phone letting me know what needed to be fixed, the price, giving me a loaner to use at no charge, and setting up a timely repair time. Tom Curtis was also very communicative with me as was Brady in their service department. Their technician did an excellent job with the repair. They even washed my vehicle after the repair so I picked up a clean van too at no charge. I would highly recommend Pischke Motors of West Salem to anyone needing service. I will continue to use them for oil changes and any repairs needed in the future. Sharon W.

First of all, Arden cuts to the chase. he diagnoses problems accurately and doesn't waste my time or his fishing around. He would never sell me an alternator when all I need is a new battery. He is genuinely concerned about my safety and he will be honest with me whether the news is good or bad. His crew is amazingly fast and thorough and this is because they know exactly what needs to be done and how to do it. Watching them work is better than watching one of those reality tv car shows. No drama. Just competence. And they explain things to me in a way that I can understand. In an era of franchise operations and fly by night repair services, it is good to know that there are still businesses like Arden's around. They have withstood the test of time and they prove their value every day.

I was extremely dissatisfied with my service and do not suggest anyone go here…read more A friend of mine was in La Crosse with my car. I was camping in North Carolina. Unfortunately, my car took this moment to have a transmission failure. My friend towed my car to Bion's because they were a Mom and Pop kinda shop and she trusted them more. The diagnoses was that my transmission had leaked dry possibly due to a gasket or cap leak. Inspection, replacement, and flush were all quoted at $900 by Randy. I had always been told that transmission flushes are slightly dangerous for transmissions because they may jar sediment or impurities lose, only to get that sediment stuck somewhere else in the mechanism resulting in damage. Randy assured me that this would not be an issue and that I "would be taken care of." The next morning, the repairs were inexplicably jacked up to $1,300. The transmission was sticking in 4th and my new mechanic, Mike, didn't know why. He examined my transmission fluid and noted there was a lot of "metal fragments" in it and he didn't know why. Mike also said that if I wanted him to find the problem it would be at least 6 hours of labor for him to inspect my transmission. I want to take the time here to explain I could have ordered a used transmission for less than $1,300. The next day Mike said my car was running fine, and that I should probably replace the transmission. I requested an invoice of the service, and Mike said that he nor Randy new how to scan anything to email me. Here are my concerns: Shouldn't your mechanic accurately diagnose a problem before pouring your money into costly repairs? Shouldn't that mechanic also accurately quote his price? If the inaccuracy of service and failure to meet expectations results in a 45% cost increase, would you prefer the service representative offered to rectify the situation or at least talk to you again? Shouldn't these master mechanics, these tamers of technology, these wielders of wrenches, these kings of combustion... know how to scan a piece of paper into a PDF? TLDR; Cost me $1,300 to get my car to my regular mechanic for further repairs. Expectations not met. I was extremely dissatisfied with my service and do not suggest anyone go here.

I made a note of that and eventually stopped in to see if they could do a check for me. I was met promptly at the service desk on a busy day, and while they couldn't me in same day (which was a Thursday) I was able to schedule an appointment for the following Monday morning. When I arrived, Joel met me at the service desk to get things started. Very smooth check-in process. Joel let me know it would be about an hour to do the check and said they'd text me when it was complete. I told him I'd head over to the Taco Bell next door and be back after that. Joel pointed out that some sort of construction had started that morning at Taco Bell and that it didn't look open (turns out it wasn't). That didn't stop me from breaking fast. Joel set me up with a loaner vehicle so I could go grab a bit to eat. Sure enough, about an hour later (as I'm finishing my breakfast) Joel called, let me know that the freon was low and that they topped it off, and that the car was ready. When I arrived, we completed payment in no time, and I was out the door with cold AC at a very reasonable price. I'm glad I got the work done at Nelson - friendly, knowledgeable folks who work quickly and charge reasonably. I would not hesitate to go back for additional service needs.
