Staff is rude and very difficult to work with. They are very inflexible and not flexible at all with patient needs.

TLDR: Dr. Rosenthal and his staff are everything I was looking for in a doctor/doctor's office -…read moreknowledgeable, not rushed, listens to patients, compassionate, and knows the prices of services ahead of time! It's rare that I walk out of a doctor's office wanting to tell everyone how great my experience is, but that's exactly how I felt! I immediately had a positive impression when I walked in while on a work phone call and the staff told me to take my time with my call. As I filled out forms, I was surprised to get a form that actually told me what my insurance covered - the amount of my deductible, the amount I had already met, and what percentage was covered for allergy testing/allergy shots (with CPT codes too). When I asked the cost for each allergy test prick, I was floored when she could actually tell me the cost - $12 a prick or $600 for all 75 pricks. I can't tell you how many times I've walked into a doctor's office and no one knew the cost of procedures or the CPT codes for the procedure. I couldn't believe it when Dr. Rosenthal spent around 30 minutes with me, in an era when most doctors are limited to 10 minutes per patient. He asked me about my allergy history and tailored his plan to what I said. When I said I didn't want to do allergy shots, he was willing to try an alternative to see if that would treat my problems. When I said I didn't want to pay $600 for all 75 allergy tests, he decided to limit the allergy tests to the ones with the most actionable plan for prevention. On top of all that, Dr. Rosenthal is older, so he's got a wealth of knowledge from first hand experience with patients. For example, he had heard of my very crazy MSG allergy and took the time to teach me how MSG affects the nervous system. He knows which allergy medicines tend to work better for most patients. I really can't say enough good things about Dr. Rosenthal and will recommend him to everyone who mentions allergies to me!

Even with cutback hours, its pretty easy to get in on time and these injections are really necessary if you have a high risk condition such as asthma. Sandy who works the front desk and much more is very kind and she noticed my poor excuse for gloves and hand me a few. Cindy the nurse is also very kind, efficient and will look for you if you need samples to tide you over before getting a prescription. All the staff are nice but a shout-out to Sandy and Cindy. Thanks for being there for us.

I had an absolutely horrible experience with Dr. Laura Ispas at the Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology…read moreInstitute in Leesburg, Virginia. From start to finish, the level of unprofessionalism, disorganization, and outright hostility was beyond anything I have ever encountered in a medical setting. First, the front desk lost my referral. I later received an unexpected text about a $250 deductible, which I do not have to pay under my insurance plan. In an attempt to understand this text I called the front desk where they proceeded to hang up on me three times. Red flag after red flag. When I arrived for my daughter's allergy testing, we were forced to wait over an hour. When she finally came in, instead of focusing on my daughter's allergy concerns, she immediately wanted to discuss the complaints I had about her office. Mind you, by this point, I had already been waiting for an hour and 15 minutes. She outright refused to see my child unless I first told her how she could improve her business practices. Completely unprofessional and inappropriate. I insisted that the medical appointment be focused on my daughter and her needs. However, the doctor disagreed and continued to argue. Then, she actually refused to see my child, so I decided to collect my daughter's paperwork and that's when things escalated from her end. This is where my 15 years old daughter decided to intervene. My daughter told her how unprofessional she was behaving. Instead of regaining her composure, Dr. Ispas started yelling at my daughter too. At that point, I had to tell her to breathe and stop interrupting. I gave her two clear options: 1. Test my daughter, and afterward, I'd privately explain the issues I had with her office. 2. Refuse to see my child, and I would leave an honest review online. She made her choice. Upon exiting the lobby of her office Dr. Ispas started following us out into the hallway as she continued to yell. My daughter actually shut the door to her office upon exiting, but that didn't stop her--she opened it right back up and followed us down the hallway to the exit, only stopping when she realized my daughter was recording the entire thing. This experience was beyond unprofessional--it was downright hostile. No patient, especially a child, should ever be treated this way. If you are considering this office, run in the opposite direction. There are plenty of other allergy specialists in the area who actually respect their patients and their time.

Ever since Dr. Ispas treated me one year ago, I can actually get through the day without non-stop coughing. I have followed the protocol of allergy shots, and they have made an enormous difference in my life. Dr. Ispas is the most kind and caring doctor I've ever been blessed to meet. This says a lot since I've worked with a major health system locally for 14 years. She and her staff operate like a well-oiled machine, right on point with every admin and patient related thing. I am truly grateful for what Dr. Ispas has done for me. She is the VERY BEST in her field!

I'm on shot maintence and couldn't be happier. I did have a bad reaction to one shot and had to get pulled off of it, so I still have issues with those allergens, but so far so good! They have you come in twice a year for a follow up. I assume they do this because your allergies could be controlled one season and not so much the next, so with the ever changing seasons and different allergens that are high depending on the seasons, they want to make sure you're doing ok and that you're improving with the shots and current meds. They are very thorough and ask many questions so they can adjust your daily meds if needed. The only downside is a small window for allergy shots that you sign up for and with many patients coming in for shots, it can make the waiting room overcrowded and sometimes run late.

I searched online for a dr. that took my insurance (cigna) in the northern va area, and that would be convenient. I found Dr. Schuster, who has recently been rated a top 100 dr. I was very impressed and would highly recommend Dr. Schuster. These days, I think it is rare to find a doctor who actually spends more than a few minutes with you, but after filing out all the regular paperwork, I was able to sit down with the doctor for probably 20 minutes and discuss all my reasons for being there today. She answered all of my questions and during the testing when I started not feeling so well, she didn't make me feel self-conscious - she explained the reaction I was having and encouraged me to do more research on it. Highly, highly recommended!
