We have stopped in and shopped when we have visited over the last few years, and had a reasonably…read moredecent experience for the most part. I am still fuming over the trip today. Honestly, the gentleman is very nice and considerate, loves to talk about his merchandise. The wife is the opposite. This trip alone, we were spending $70+ (in this bad economy) and she wouldn't let my son, who is a teenager, look at a pocketknife even though we'd been handling everything else, including other knives. I truly believe she thought he was going to steal it. I'm so mad! Just a rude woman. She will eyeball and watch you the entire time you're there. If I'd caught her attitude towards my son prior to paying, I would have left the merchandise.

Another favorite place for us to stop along the way when visiting Eagle River. Animals And More…read moreoccupies the space that once was an old-fashioned movie theatre called the Eagle, as the building still retains its old overhanging facade, though the lights have been removed. Instead of the movie title, the sign reads "Animaland" in colorful letters. The interior has been converted into a store specializing in a wide variety of unusual stuffed animals and toys. There's also some interesting books for kids and some fancy model cars that grownups who appreciate classic cars would love. They have a "Build-a-Bear" like stuffing machine for making your own stuffed animal. However, the place is not a rip-off or way overpriced like the name-brand DIY stuffed animal shop I mentioned. This is a family-run business and the people behind the counter are as nice as can be. My older son found a book on tornadoes and hurricanes that he picked out and my younger son found a stuffed turtle that compelled him to rub its plush shell with his hand and suck his thumb simultaneously. They also have these really long sleep shirts my wife likes. Her favorite shirt depicts a bear wrapped around from front to back that reads "Bear Hug". No place else carries some of these products. Well worth a visit if you're in Eagle River.
