They had some good deles on some shotgun powder that has been hard to come by. The employees were nice enough.

Staff at Dong's were condescending when we brought in a gun that kept ejecting magazines. They insisted there was nothing wrong with it, but agreed to send it to the manufacturer. They supposedly sent the gun to Florida for repairs, and the gun was back at the shop in under two weeks with no repair report. We were told by Dong's staff that the gun was tested by Diamondback and successfully ran 100 rounds and 15 different magazines without ejecting any magazines. They insisted it was working fine and not ejecting any magazines. We got the gun home and shot with 4 different magazines; all but the gun's original magazine ejected after one shot. I sent an email to Diamondback and was informed that they had no record of our gun being sent to their facility. Dong's wants to insinuate you're lying about your gun malfunctioning and then turn around and lie about sending your gun to the manufacturer. I guess they think their customers are stupid and won't follow up with the manufacturer. read more

Here's my 2 cents, this placed is over priced and after reading all these horror stories I see why. Comments about selling used guns as new, broken guns, and just poor customer service are very concerning. To be that bad at all 3 says all you need to know. Listen, if you're not prepared to deal with stern, stout, law abiding gun salesmen, then go to Bass Pro or some unprofessional gun show. Dong's employees and specifically owner are absolutely stern, and if you aren't stern in this business, you aren't careful. And if you aren't careful, you pose a potential national threat. Do your research on firearms transfers if using them for buying online, federal law, state law and ask someone who's purchased a firearm before how to go about it. Come in smelling clean, looking like a law abiding citizen, with the proper ID/documents and be respectful. If you do all those things, **this gun store is a holy grail**. Good value on all weapons, great selection, cheap transfer and background check fees -- the whole nine yards for an FFL. To those who are writing about "racism" and "poor treatment", get over yourself. You either smelled like MJ, looked and spoke very suspect, asked questions that would make an FFL suspicious or didn't have any of the things I outlined above (documents if needed, valid ID, clean history). If you come in prepared, respectful and informed, you will be treated as such. Hell, I just got off of a 5-6 minute phone call with the owner and he was nothing but cordial. I found that two items I bought were 25% cheaper than the big box chain store. Close in parking you step into the store and merchandise is right at your hand. Fong Dong was the original owner. He was a great guy to do business with, very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I bought some reloading equipment from him. The new bunch are hateful. I bought a pistol from them and they were helpful. When I came back two days later to get a holster, I brought the gun to insure a good fit (I have a carry license). I asked for a holster showing them the gun so they would know the kind of holster I needed. They threw a fit. Each one of them lining up to chew me out in turn. Then the first calls me back over, "Let me see that gun again." I show it to him and he starts in on me all over again. I never expected a gun shop to be a "No Gun Zone" and it wasn't even posted. Each member of the staff has a loaded hand gun on his hip. I just don't think my "sin" rose to a level of a virtual cussing out by the entire staff. I grew up in Tulsa and have been visiting Dongs for close to 30 years. Customer service has historically been hit and miss, however it has consistently been a source for hard-to-find reloading components. Prices weren't always the best but were generally fair. Was recently visiting T-town from Texas and stopped by just to see if they had primers, which they did. I purchased a brick and had them hold them at the desk while I looked around a little more. The clerk was very friendly and helpful. This is where the story goes south. As I left the store, I discovered the had handed me the wrong primers, Standard vs Magnum. Went back in to swap them out and the manager (?) in the back told the clerk they only had 9 100ct boxes of the magnum primers and he would only sell me one box of 100 at $28.00 (these are gunbroker panic prices and can be had for around $12/100 with some patience, but these are hard to find so capitalism rules I suppose). The clerk refunded the $280 I had just paid for the 1000ct brick and the manager then told me that he wouldnt sell me the 100ct box of magnum primers (even at the ridiculously high price) unless I bought 2 boxes of bullets. He said he saves primers for customers buying bullets. I had to make him repeat what he said because it seemed so ridiculous and the clerk that had helped me had already rung up the individual box. Needless to say I walked out empty handed. After many years away from Tulsa, Dongs has always been a stop for me even with the idiosyncrasies of some of the older staff. I've easily spent thousands with them at their inflated prices because they had hard to find items that on occasion that I couldn't find in Dallas. I started reloading with equipment I purchased at Dongs as a youngster growing up in Tulsa as they were "THE PLACE" to buy reloading supplies and equipment. Sadly, I cannot recommend Dongs to anyone at this point. Like many older gun shops, their attitude epitomizes the behaviors that have discouraged many prospective new shooters from joining the shooting sports. You are better off buying online. read more

New way to price gouge I tried to buy 158gr or any size any type of 357/38spl had none tried to by primers they had small pistols primers but would not sell without buying bullets. They had some 308 bullets I could use but no large rifle primers. Asked if I could buy 308 bullets and matching number of small pistols primers? He said no and with a smirk he said I had to buy a bullet that could be used with a small pistol primers. I'm not going to pay for a bullet that I can't use just to get primers. The shortage will end but I'm done with Dongs for my reloading need and factory ammo. Hope everyone else will do the same that's the only way to combat this kind of price gouging. Have seen the reviews saying staff and rude and in all the times I've been here and called over the phone, haven't had that experience. With gun sales through the roof over the past year, anything firearm related is usually fairly hard to come by. Dong's has always had the ammunition in stock I've needed, even in 5.56 caliber which is hard to come by as of late. Their prices are reasonable and the fact that they have what I need in stock is great! Also have plenty of well priced guns of any kind you want in stock as well. Prices for ammunition have gone up everywhere so for those complaining it's not the gun stores fault. For anything gun related these folks have it all! read more

I've been shopping at Dong's for over 20 years. As with most places you get what you give to those that wait on you in Dong's. Their policies that limit ammo and primers assure they have products to serve their customers in an uncertain future. They get an awful lot of folks getting the feel of guns they go home and buy on the internet. Become their customer if you want better treatment. I was in there today and they had the most ammo I've seen all year, a good selection of powders and primers, the gun racks and showcases were full of guns. The prices weren't cheap but, they were better than any place I could order on the internet. They had what I needed just like they every time in the last 20 years. Over the last decade, I've purchased four pistols, countless rounds of ammunition, and many accessories, and have always had a good experience. Prices are very competitive, and their inventory is usually quite good. When they're very busy, they may not spend as much time talking with you, but I try to pick non-peak times, and I've never walked out without getting all my questions answered. While they'll certainly tel you their preferences about guns/ammo/accessories/etc., they've never been rude or unhelpful when I want or decide on something different. As a long time Thompson Center fan, parts are getting harder to find. This is due to Smith&Wesson selling TC Arms. On a longshot, I called Dong's, they were 3rd on my Google Search page. I wound up talking to the owner, I asked if the part I was looking for, was in stock. Their website showed only 1. I was told they did have it. The phone transaction was handled quickly and I was told it would ship same day, I received it 3 days later. I'm just a phone customer several state away, but was treated like I was family. I'm disappointed, after nearly 50 years of loyalty to this unusual shop, that I'm writing a negative review having left a fairly positive one a few years ago. My most recent purchase was a couple of guns two years ago. It was most satisfactory and the gent who assisted was a pleasure. My most recent attempt to purchase was today. I was in Tulsa for a few hours and needed an item that is common but currently difficult to find. I knew the precise name and rang Dong's to see if they had it in stock before driving all the way across Tulsa. The terse "Dong's" didn't bode well as I know who this particular character is. Rather than just hear what I was after, I was told to go use the internet. I should say "thanks" as I did just that. Dong's did have it in stock but Bass Pro did too -- nearly 40% cheaper and I get loyalty points and 5% military discount. If I want indifferent service and want to pay a premium I'll go back to Paris and order a steak and Diet Coke. If I'm told to use the internet and get no service, then there's Bass Pro, Academy, Brownell's, Cheaper-Than-Dirt, and Gun Broker, to name a few -- all of whom I've used this week. There are many fine, small, independent shooting shops and supplies in Tulsa and I wish I could support all of them. I would suggest one of them instead. read more

This place has every imaginable thing that a serious reloader needs. They stock virtually everything from Lee, Hornady, RCBS, Lyman and others. Dong's replaces sales staff every 18 months to two years. The current group are the worst I have seen in several years. Salesman with the hat on constantly continuously calls the young Latino salesman names and just verbally pecks at him. Young Latino man needs to go to the dentist and have his teeth cleaned. Young Latino has no sales etiquette, needs a bath, some new clothes, and to see a barber. The older salesman is tolerable but condescending to customers. On the plus side I have seen people turned down for purchases when they were sketchy. The prices are good and they have decent stock but you have to ignore the sales staff. read more

I absolutely will not be back in this store again. I have spent hundreds of dollars in here but no more! Not only did the prices increase no less than $20 per item on my list, I couldn't buy my reloading powder without buying more ammo. They said there was a one per customer limit and that I had to buy 200 bullets with it. So they didn't carry my caliber I was told "well I guess you'll have to wait". Bottom line I would've had to buy $200 worth of bullets to get $90 worth of powder! Their rude don't give a shit attitude ended all the money I will ever spend in there again! read more
