The pies were ready in a very reasonable time, and we sat down to eat. I first noticed how oily the pie was. The paper circle it rested on was covered in oil and it pooled all around the pie. I went to pull a piece out to sample it and was met with some pasty white undercooked greasy dough. Disappointing was the least I could say. I took a few bites, but the underneath was so unappetizing I decided to go ask for a box and re-bake the pie at home. I did not feel like asking for another or to fix the issue so that is on me, but I was expecting better for the amount of traffic that is happening here. Once re-baked at home the pie was good, not great. But at least I was able to get the crust cooked and blotted a lot of the excessive oil. I don't think I will eat here again, but others seem to really enjoy it, and once cooked properly the pie was average enough for 3 stars.

Sides include baked beans, coleslaw, cornbread, collard greens, and potato chips. My husband and I visited this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. An employee immediately greeted us and gave us menus to look at. She told us that we could sit at any table of our liking. Many tables were available inside and outside, and I appreciated that the walls were open for fresh ventilation. We ordered our appetizers, and the employee told us that ribs would not be available to order for another half hour, so we waited for them. Our loaded nachos and loaded fries were topped with similar ingredients of shredded meat, jalapeno peppers, gooey cheese, and a sauce. The ingredients were fresh, and we enjoyed the flavors. We got the smaller size of the bowls and they were still huge - we couldn't finish all of the rice! We also split the California Avenue roll and loved it - the pieces were also pretty big. The lobster rolls are packed with flavor and something you want to gobble down because they are so good (but also really want to savor). The buns are fresh and don't seem to get soggy. I really like the lobster bisque because it actually does have pieces of lobster in it, but they definitely seem to have cut down on the amount. Even with long lines, they tend to move efficiently and you get your food fairly quickly. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because it seems like the portions have shrunk a bit despite prices going up.
