Such a horrible company, employees are far underpaid and far overworked. Equipment is constantly broken and trucks break down. Boss does not care about anything, had me driving a truck, and never once asked to see my license. OHS would have a field day with this company. Didn't go through an interview, showed up one day and was hired. Most employees are ex cons, immigrants, or just strange individuals. No overtime policy, 20/h for difficult labour work, 14hr+ shifts are common, with no overtime. Boss doesn't care about any of the employees or their safety. Do not use this company. The condo board hired them to service a townhouse area I live in. I have artificial turf, and they cut my turf. I spent a lot of money to get the nice tall realistic turf. They cut half an inch off of it, I sent pictures as well. They are refusing to do anything, unless I have video proof. who else would have cut it? They did not bother making an appointment to come and check it out either. The picture I submitted show where the lawn mower missed an area, plus I still have leftover turf and measured the leftover turf and the turf in my yard and its cut by half an inch. They have a high turnover employee rate as well. I will continue to write bad reviews until this is fixed. read more

Terrible! The job they did with snow clearing was so bad. I wanted to talk to them about what wasn't done well do it could be handled well for the rest of the the season. I called, emailed, texted and left a message on the website. No response. I wasn't rude, though I was getting pretty frustrated and it may have begun to show. Finally I decided I needed to fire Donewell and find someone else so I wrote to cancel the following month. Guess what! Immediate response. Strange business model. Hired the company for spring clean up. "Gold package" edging was not done they were leaving when I pulled up my friend said they arrived at 9 and they were leaving at 950 there was still debris on my driveway, they left the debris in bags on the side of the curb their ads says nothing about them leaving it behind for the customer to get rid of. For the price I would have expected it be taken away. I contacted the company and let them know they said we'll take the bags for 30$ extra and took about 10$ off for edging not being done, I guess for the debris on driveway & around fence. I never leave bad reviews but when you pay for the "gold package" you hope for top service. I have since cleaned the rest of the debris and I did pay as I don't want to be threatened with collections but I believe people should know what they may possibly receive. read more

We don't know for sure cause we had no notice and no opportunity to inspect the job. Looked like the grass was cut but that's not a $250 job (unless it was Ray Charles who did it, in which case pretty impressive). No 24 hours notice, no communication and when we were lucky enough to get ahold of Steve, he would promise to send his crew that does such a good job ghosting it rivals Tinder. Our experience with Donewell has been horrible. Last year, we had to follow up multiple times and finally had them show up when the lawn was nice and green mid May. This year, they have given us multiple dates and do not show up. It is now May 30th, then don't answer their phones and we finally left a message to cancel and we would do it ourselves. My experience with Matt and Steve was not a positive one. Actually I never got to meet Matt or Steve of Donewell Property Services. The reason being, they never showed up to do the spring cleanup on my property that I had engaged their services for. Four times they never showed up... To start with, it is impossible to reach someone. The only way to have someone contact you is to leave a message. It took over 48 hours for Matt to get back to me. He then said that they were busy, but thought they could fit me in the following Thursday (the next week). Thursday rolled around without contact. I thought, no worries, someone will show up... I called in the morning, wondering what time I could expect them. Matt answered and didn't recall speaking to me. Said I must have spoken to Steve, and Steve should be along shortly. Noon and no Steve. Afternoon and no Steve. I finally got a hold of Steve. He said I must have spoken to Matt, and he didn't have anything about me in their schedule. Awesome. Whole day wasted waiting for them. Steve said sorry, bagger broke down but don't worry, he'll come by on the weekend and do the yard. Saturday rolled around. No Matt, no Steve. No word. Granted, this was the May long weekend, but if you say you're going to come, then get your butt out here, or at least let me know! Finally heard from Steve through text message. Sorry about that, he'll be out later in the week. Super! (Meanwhile, not being that big of an idiot, I'm now shopping around for a new lawn care company. He who is out first, gets the job. So, what do you think happens later in the week??? NO STEVE!!! Shocking, I know! So, I sent another text message wondering what happened and he says Monday for sure. And I say, for sure this time, and he promises. Seriously, his text message said "I promise". Ok, ok. I know I'm getting predictable, but what do you think happens on Monday?? NO SHOW!!!! I know, I'm not surprised that this point either. I should say that I don't know if Steve texted me because my horse stepped on my cell that morning, and it did no survive the insult. I did however call twice to let him know that he couldn't reach me by text, but that he could call me on my home phone. I called that evening, leaving a pointed message asking what happened and requesting a phone call, as that would be the professional thing to do. At least have an excuse. And make it a good one. At this point however, to ask Steve and Matt at Donewell Property Services to be professional is rather pointless and redundant. In summary, if you engage Donewell Property Services, do so at your own risk, and make sure you have a back-up plan. read more

Would not recommend, worse experience from start to finish. Where to begin? I asked 3 times when the job would start and was told each time "as soon as the nurseries open" which was May 1st. The job did not "start" until May 31st after I threatened to cancel. I was also told the job would take 3 days, it actually took 10 days with more than half of those days with no one showing up and things sitting idle and unfinished. Everyday they said someone would come work and most days no one ever came. The "crew" (usually just one person) would arrive later and later -sometimes not until well into the afternoon and once they had people here until 9:30pm (way too late) and one person smoked weed while working and the smell came into our open windows (not professional). They installed a gate in our fence which I could not open less than 48 hours afterwards, they sent the crew to "fix" it and now after one month I can't open it again. They drove their truck onto my neighbor's lawn and even when the neighbor asked them to move it, they did not as they said it would be fine -and I ended up having to fix the lawn for my neighbor afterwards -Donewell offered to re-sod when their reseeding job failed but by then no one here wanted to have to work with them or wait around for them again. Yesterday, I added a new plant and was shocked to find that under the new rock and landscape fabric were the old rocks and clay that was there before the landscape. One of the main things I asked for was for the clay to be dug up and replaced with new soil- I was assured this would be done, but obviously they just covered up the area and left the old clay untouched. This company is terrible to deal with. I had to phone three times before any one came to my house to do the spring clean up I scheduled. Each time I called I was given a different date someone would be coming and when someone finally came, it wasn't on any of the dates I was told. No one called me to notify me of a delay either, which was about 3 weeks. When someone did come, I went outside to ask a question & the guy was standing in my back yard texting on his cell phone. In addition, the quality of the work was rather poor. The package I scheduled was for the full spring clean up: lawn edging, aeration, power raking, grass cut & fertilization. It didn't appear that the power raking was done on the complete lawn, it definitely wasn't done under our trees. As well there was debris left on one side of our shed. It also didn't look like the lawn was aerated or fertilized either. Lawn edging definitely wasn't done as the grass along the edges was longer than the rest of the lawn. I e-mailed the company afterwards with my complaints & didn't even get a response. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone. read more

I had a similar experience to Heidi's. I called for an estimate for maintenance on our property. I was quoted a price that included mowing, weed eating, edging, and 15 minutes of weeding the rock beds each service. After having to inquire several times of when the first service would be, the gentlemen finally showed up. The service took 10 minutes. They mowed the lawn and weed whacked the front edge of the lawn by the road- that was it. None of the landscaping in the back was trimmed, there had been no edging done, and no weeding of the rock beds. After calling and emailing to let Steve know of the situation and giving notice of canceling the service, he emailed back telling me that,"weeding was done by a separate crew." Hmmmm. Either way I cancelled service and asked for a refund for the edging, trimming, and weeding. Steve was kind enough to give a full refund, but it did take several days for the refund to be received. read more

Later that same day, I got a message through text saying they did the wrong house in a completely different city (after giving them my address twice). I understand it's their busy season but it's a joke how they treat their clients and make promises they don't keep. We hired another company and they came the next day. Bad experience. Prepaid for snowremoval while on holidays but they never showed up for the entire month. Very unresponsive left numerous voice messages, emails and sent pictures so the snowcovered driveway and sidewalks. It took hours to shovel and chip away the ice. This Company is the "worst. Their workmanship is terrible. Customer service and work is absolutely the worst I have ever experienced. I have also reported them to the Better Business Bureau. I hired them to do spring clean up of my front lawn. And weekly lawn mowing and trimming. They showed up after 5 pm. 1st week in April to do the spring cleanup. No one called to advise me when they were coming. They totally ruined my front lawn. I don't know what they did but my neighbors came over and asked who I hired, I told them the Co name, and both neighbors said how "rough my lawn looked", it looks like they didn't lift the machine they were working with and when they turned it they tore out big chunks of my lawn. I had a beautiful lawn last year, Now have dead/brown spots all over. My lawn looks terrible.I called the owner Stephen, he said he would send the crew back. Never heard anything for 3 weeks when I called again. I called him 2 more times I said since you are the owner you need to come over. He said he would come to my house after work but he was a no show. I had to call him again and he said he would be over later 8:45 he came over, he said he would come on Thursday May 5th to put top dressing and grass seed at no charge to me. They were a no show on Thurs, so I called and was told they were coming on Friday. I took the day off work to be home when they came but had to run a quick errand, when I got home they had already been here and left. A little bit of black dirt was out on some of the brown patches with some grass seed spread on top, the other holes just had a bit of black dirt with no grass seed. Not what I was expecting. They were also supposed to have mowed by back yard as well this was not done. I called Stephen 4 times after I got home on Friday but no response. His voice mail states " your call is important to me" - that is not the case , as he never returns the phone calls. I have now hired someone else. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY YOU WILL REGRET IT. I originally got in contact with Steve at the end of April and was informed that they were busy until the May long weekend, but would do the spring cleanup after this time. Unfortunately, I agreed to this and did not contact any other company. After May long w/e no one contacted me or showed up. I emailed Steve and after a few days he responded stating they were very busy, but would be out in the next 7 days. 7 days goes by and no one shows up. I emailed Steve again and waited a few days for a reply in which he stated they would be out to do the cleanup the following day. I informed him that my husband would be waiting around that day to pay him. once again, no one showed up. there was no email or phone call explaining why. I emailed Steve wondering what was going on, and he didn't respond. Then, 2 weeks later, 2 guys showed up at my front door claiming to be from donewell properties and wanted to clean up my yard. Clearly, the cleanup had already occured! I was stunned and asked them to leave. showing up unannounced after stringing me along for months has to be due to either pure arrogance, stupidity, profound disorganization, or all of the above.
