I ended up broken down east of Nashville from a bad tank of diesel fuel. I was on my way from Austin to Boston and had many people relying on me. SO HELPFUL. We got a flat at a gas station on our way out of town. We aren't from here so we tried calling around to find a tow because we didn't have a spare. We ended up walking down the street (about a block away) to dad's towing. Long story short, dad's was a terrible experience. After waiting for an hour for our tow, we called dads asking for an eta and they told us it was another 30-45 minutes. Did I mention they were a block away from us? So we canceled the tow and called Donelson and they came in 15 minutes and were so friendly and affordable! Mike was our tow-man and he was so helpful and made our experience all the better! The problem is exactly what you think it would be: they have the customer service chops of nosferatu. The wrecker driver I had was pretty efficient and as professional as a guy who drives a tow truck can be. When I went in to the office to get some personal affects the man at the front desk was courteous enough, while the old battle ax in the back had the friendliness of a dead pterodactyl. She never spoke a word during the entire ten minute span I was in there. The problem with these places is that three stars is the best you can reasonably expect. Anything above that is impossible because these wrecker services basically treat their customers like hostages. "We have your car. If you ever want to see it again, bring $300 in unmarked bills to that shady place next to the quarry." They don't advertise because you only need the place when some idiot rear-ends you, and you pick the first one that shows up on Google on your cell phone. So even though I rated it two stars, I don't see how it gets any better. As long as they tow your mangled corpse of a vehicle to a predetermined destination, and don't sic their dogs on you when you enter the lot during broad daylight, you've probably got one as good as any other wrecker/tow service. read more

Working with a wrecker service is typically something you never really plan to do and in my case MNPD picked them for me. Getting them to release my wrecked Mazda to my insurance was a pain, as I had to call multiple times, and each time the insurance called me to say that the car was not released to them. After several days of phone tag, I went down there in person and got there right as they were closing. The night person there was kind enough to let me into the lot to gather my remaining personal effects from my car and even allowed me to leave written permission in person to turn my car over to my insurance. Honestly, given how much stress people they are under when they typically need the services of a wrecker service you think there staff could do more to make the process easier on the customers. At least their driver who picked my car up from the site of the accident was kind and understanding. read more

I had a fender bender coming home from out of town on May 31 and I called Donelson Wrecker Service because they had helped me before. I know they were super busy with it being a holiday but they got to me promptly and made it very easy. I was too rattled to get the name of the tow truck driver, but he was so nice and a real professional. Same goes for the lady at the office who took my call, whose name I also forgot to get. Let's be honest, no one WANTS to have to use a wrecker service, right? In my case, I was involved in an accident where my car was definitely not drivable, so MDPD chose for me. Lucky for me, my experience has been great -- from beginning to end! The driver, Dominick, was very quick to the scene. He was professional and made sure I understood where my car was being taken. He also gave me a business card, but we aren't going to talk about the fact I somehow lost it. I already knew my car was going to be considered a "Total Loss," so I went to their lot to get my personal items out of my vehicle and sign it over to insurance. I was already angry that I had to even go through all of this -- especially because this wreck wasn't my fault. Horrible experience with this company. I had my truck towed not even a mile down the road and they charged $75. Then after getting it back from the shop which it just had a fuel clean out. I noticed a clunk on the front passenger side. I got under the truck and seen that the shock was busted off, I called Donelson and he came to look at it and told me it broke a long time ago but I just heard it after he towed my car, funny huh? He said it was because of rust but my truck doesn't have any rust it isn't an old truck. I had to pay out of my own pocket for something they broke. I would never recommend this company to anyone. I would stay far away from them they are not a responsible company. read more
