A great garden center. They have lots of Clematis but many other flowers, shrubs and trees. They also have sale items and this week was Begonias and other flowers. Their planting soil is good too and they had it inside. Much appreciated with the rainy weather we have been having. Otherwise it would have been soaked and much heavier. So excited to check out this greenhouse with my sisters and my mom. Went there bought cucs and tomato plants after getting what I thought was expert advise as to why the leaves were white. I was told don't worry it was nothing it will come out of it . Well they both died within two days, my sister's did too so I know it wasn't just me. Prob won't return. read more

I purchased a clematis online from Donahue's Greenhouse. It was shipped promptly, but when it arrived it was literally stuck to the shrink wrap they'd packed in around the leaves, the plant had been displaced from the 3" container and there was dirt all over the inside of the packing box. There was a stake provided, but the plant wasn't staked to it, so the plant was laying in the remaining dirt in the pot, suffocated by shrink wrap. I'd never seen anything like it. I did my best to pry the leaves from the wrap, replant the poor thing in it's small container, prop it up on it's stake and give it a drink, but the plant didn't look like it would survive. By the next evening the leaves were all shriveled up and crisp - the plant was dead. I contacted the company immediately, and rather than just kindly replace the item or refund it, I was chastised by employee Victoria Nass for not properly caring for the plant, claiming that they "ship these clematis all over the country like that and have never had a problem", so the problem was ME. Really? Online reviews had said otherwise. She then went on to accuse me of taking advantage of them, she explained that the plant was fine and would grow, if I just removed the dead plant from the roots and planted it in the ground, but she'd refund the money to me. I followed up the next day, and the refund was issued, but I thought, NEVER AGAIN. This is a company that doesn't take responsibility for its own errors. I cannot recommend online purchases from this company. read more

I ordered 5 clematis from Donahue's. They cam quickly but they werent overly great when they arrived. I planted the five. Four are making it although slow growing and one completely died. I contacted them and of course it was "beyond" the time frame of letting them know. I guess a couple of months is too late. Even Lowes has a better policy than that. I ordered from Brushwood in the past. Much better product. I flower farm so it is not like I dont know how to take care of a plant or ignored it. Wont be back. They lost a customer for life. read more

I live in the Twin cities and make the pilgrimage every spring to Donahues. Their plants and flowers are second to none and prices are very reasonable. Walking thru the front doors and into their gorgeous greenhouse is pure bliss! read more
