I was looking for an IP attorney to help me get a trademark. I found Trevor on Yelp and he had…read moregreat reviews. When I reached out to him, he was very responsive. He was able to explain to me the following: 1) he would research the USPTO and let me know if there were any other trademarks under the name; 2) the costs and fees that would be involved; 3) what he does and doesn't do (for example he doesn't do lawsuits, cease & desist because he is not that type of lawyer); 4) the process and timeline of filing a trademark; and 5) what I will need to do to demonstrate "Use in Commerce". After researching different Trademark attorneys, I am happy I chose Trevor to do this for me. So far, I am very pleased with him. He is knowledgeable, accessible, and thorough. Also, I appreciate how he stays in communication with me and has kept me abreast of every step occurring so far with the application filing process.

I value clarity over flattery and precision over small talk. Long-term professional relationships are built on competence and integrity -- not on pleasant but empty words. I have been working with Trevor for over five years on trademark matters. During that time, he has handled multiple filings for me, including one case that I genuinely believed would be nearly impossible to secure. Not only did he navigate the complexities with clarity and confidence, but he ultimately succeeded where I had serious doubts it could be done. Trevor is sharp, responsive, and highly strategic. He assesses risk carefully, communicates directly, and moves efficiently. Even with my extremely detail-oriented and demanding approach to business, he is often one step ahead -- anticipating issues before I raise them and providing thoughtful, well-reasoned guidance. To be completely honest, part of me hesitates to write this because I would prefer he not become too busy. That is how valuable he is to me as a trademark attorney. If you are looking for someone who combines intelligence, precision, and professionalism -- and who delivers real results -- you will be in very good hands.

I say this because he took time out of his busy day to speak with me over the phone (for free) and listen to the predicament that I found myself in having to do with my organization. Joshua asked me to forward my email communications and after he reviewed them, knew exactly how to respond. He resolved the matter (within 48 hours) and saved my organization lots of undue stress and potential liability. What matters here is that Josh LISTENED to me and provided solid expertise and advice. In my case, my organization was dealing with a nasty and threatening letter related to possible copyright infringement. But as I learned, this accuser was highly unethical and Josh made it abundantly clear that their tactics were not to be directed at our organization. I want to say out loud, THANK YOU, JOSH. You were the fourth law firm I contacted and you picked up the phone. The other firms placed me in "waiting" limbo. I recommend Josh wholeheartedly if you are looking for legal advice and potential representation. You will get first class treatment!

Better lawyers out there, have spoken to others in the Bay who gave truly nuanced consultations and offered solutions that made sense. She felt very inexperienced, relying on "what the law says" versus negotiation nuance. She frames it as an "intake call" in her response but she was offering me guidance on what to do even though I kept saying I didn't think her guidance made sense in my situation. Update: she just viewed my LinkedIn in response to this review and has not sent a letter to state she is not my attorney. Update: the non-attorney letter did go to my spam but it was wholly unprofessional as well. She was defensive for our conversation, blaming the "short nature" of it and "my timeline" and said "I believe you just posted a Yelp review and I am sorry that you felt the need to post that. It is your prerogative. I wish you the best and I hope you are able to find a satisfactory resolution." So, she was more focused on defending herself and arguing she was "right" than my case. I am greatly concerned about the ethics of this practitioner who prioritizes her own 5-star rating over reflecting on how she communicates with prospective clients. Employment law is a highly sensitive area, I hope people are able to find compassionate and knowledgeable individuals to serve them, not ones who are defensive and operate in an ethical gray area.
