We found The Port Cheese by just wandering the main drag. It has a funky vibe - and seemed a bit dark (we were not sure that it was open) - but we were hungry and decided to take a risk. Order the turkey and Brie on a croissant!!! So worth it! Featuring crisp apple slices, iceberg lettuce (honestly, it is great) and a balsamic fig mustard that you will buy a jar of before you leave - this sandwich is a keeper! The whipped feta was a bit too lemon forward, but a nice starter (we recommend adding a touch of honey). Stop in. It will be a treat.

I couldn't get a picture before we had all tried our sandwiches. "Too hot!" We said and yet rapidly took the next bite of the oozing grilled cheese. My only comment would be that the key lime pie did not need the side of ice cream. Excellent service, bustling restaurant. Definite repeat.

However, their food is so amazing I'm sure everyone who has been there will have become a regular. So far we've had the chicken - tenders, sandwiches and with waffles - and the baklava, and everything has been absolutely delicious. The chicken is tender and juicy, the batter is tasty, the sides are well prepared, the portions are plentiful, the price is very reasonable. Staff are very friendly and helpful. A wonderful addition to a pretty great menu of restaurants and cafes in Port Perry. All we need now is an excellent Roti Shop!

Went again last night (2 couples) at the request of the other couple who live at least 30 km away. For us it's local. Here what had been consistent over the last 10 years. Never had a bad or mediocre meal. Always been excellent. Every single time. 4 different meals last night, pizza, Tuscan chicken salad, veal parm, chicken parm. All excellent. Service attentive, friendly. An almost too many daily specials. Quantity of food 3 of the 4 people required boxes to take home surplus food. This is not pub food. There are no French fries here. I remember the first time I was served there was like when my Baba served me my first bowl of Borscht. It was with love and care, and a sense of humour too. The hospitable staff somehow make the experience of ordering, almost as enjoyable as the sandwich itself and the meatball is an extremely enjoyable sandwich! I hadn't come in in a while because some loser complained to head office about Canada's number one independent newspaper, Druthers being on the rack, and Mr. Sub caved into the complaint and removed them, so I couldn't get my Druthers. I felt bad, because there are lots of satisfying reasons to visit other than the newspaper but Druthers means ones own way, preference or choice and it means a lot to me that I support businesses that respect everyones right to choose. But guess what? To my great surprise and delight, when I walked in today they had stacked Druthers back on the rack! Way to go Mr. Sub! I knew we were meant to be!! PS: It was so nice to see everyone's face today. No masks! I always had a feeling that extremely sweet young girl was cute and I confirmed it!! See you again soon!! www.druthers.net
