Once I realized what she had done I came back to get the rest of my changed and she tried to blame it on me as if she didn't just handed me money (wrong change) and walked off with an attitude. Have been coming here for a few years now. From the nail techs, to the owner herself, I am just…read morenever ever disappointed. I am super picky with both my nails and eyebrows but whenever I'm here, I don't ever have that nervous pit feeling in my stomach because I know I am in good hands. Number one thing for me when getting my nails done is cuticles. You can a bad paint job just please make sure to get my cuticles nice and clean, they do just that here. With my eyebrows, I have a rather full pair of eyebrows so any wrong little hair that is removed, I can tell because not only do I have full eyebrows but they are thick too. Juliana, the eyebrow lady there, she always designs my eyebrows nicely. Never removes too much and really takes her time in making sure they are symmetrical. In the past, I got my eyebrows done at a chinese salon and they never took time and gave some tlc to my eyebrows, it was just, 1, 2, 3, done, off you go. Juliana actually fixed the mess they made on my eyebrows because when I came in they were not symmetrical. After two waxes, my eyebrows are now perfect pairs. Now onto the brasilian wax. Let me tell you, I was peeing my pants basically because of how nervous I was of the pain I'd be experiencing while getting this done, but as we always say, beauty is pain. News flash, with Nadia, beauty is not pain, it is pain free actually. Nadia has the lightest and FASTEST hands in the world. Pressed on time and still need a wax? Come to Nadia's salon, she will get everything done in 15 minutes and when you leave, don't worry you will not be left burn or with patches. She has been doing this for years, both in Brasil and here in the states so you know she's set with those skills. I drive out of my way just to go to Nadia for my brasilian wax. Cheaper than European wax center, and a much better and cleaner job.

I've driven to this salon on two separate occasions. It's about a two hour round-trip for me…read morebecause I live closer to Pennsylvania. That being said there's a certain standard that one might expect when driving that far. And I can assure you that while I may have been oblivious to it the first time I went I definitely didn't miss it the last time. I just went in a few days ago for a retwist, and I noticed several unhygienic aspects of how they do business. First thing aside from the holes in the wall and dirt all over the floor, they smoke hookah inside the salon. None of the hair clips get re-washed after use, or at least the ones that were use while I was there. There was gel residue, in foreign hairs, all over all of the clips, some of which were also rusted. Those same clips I just described, then got put into my hair as well as any other clients who were there. So at this point, my hair was washed, and now has dirty clips put in it will re-twisted, and then they sit you down in a hairdryer That also has residue all over it. In both of the times that I've been there I've never seen anyone clean a single thing in my last re-twist from start to finish took four hours. I can honestly say that I'm not sure what I saw this place or why I thought it was worth driving so far but I won't be going back again and I can only help that they pull her back into their business. The workers are otherwise mostly friendly, but paying $140 for a retwist of this quality was horrendous, especially when I walked out with all kinds of stray hairs.

I went for a consultation and we agreed on a stylist that would install my loc extension. (Day one) When I arrived I was told that the person is available just stepped out for a short moment, 30 minutes after they told me the person is out of town. I agree to go with a different stylist and she asked me to start installing the locs the following day. 2. (Day 2) My appointment was at 5:30am, and the shop remained closed until 6:40 am. There I was waiting in the cold, no call to reschedule, nothing. 3. I showed them a picture of how I want my hair to look, the owner gave me a price, half way through they told me to pay now at a higher price (said she didn't include everything). 4. We came to a price agreement and after I paid they did not complete the job. 5. Their attitude felt like I asked them to do my hair for free. They treated me with such disrespect. There was no apology for all I went through. Nothing.

LOC CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!!…read more I am heavily disappointed at the cleanup I had to do after my hair was done at this establishment. Let me first say that I normally get my locs professionally done in New York and at a fabulous salon called knotty roots in kearney, New Jersey which is a real natural salon specifically for locs and natural hair using natural products but the owner was not in so I opted to use this establishment at 502 Springfield Avenue in Newark as a backup. The process of washing and retwisting my hair at this salon was exhausting and weird. First, they used a " natural" peppermint shampoo that was not at all diluted which burned my forehead and then used a mask on the locs for moisturizing. The owner proceeded to have clients dry their locs under intense heat before retwisting. All professionals who are knowledgeable of locs know this process will not only create heaviness in the locs but also heavy buildup which can create a lint looking effect in the locs over time. The worst was not over, as the hair and edges are dry, she slathers huge amounts of gel to retwist and lay it down which is a no no. Again, wet hair is both easier and better for your hair. Wet hair is more elastic and manageable to twist, whereas twisting dry hair can cause breakage and damage. After this fiasco, I was sent to the dryer AGAIN! And paid a higher price for a non style hairdo. As time went on throughout my day, both my husband and I noticed the edges were getting white as snow due to too much gel in the hair. I literally had to wash down my hair which also means horrible buildup for the rest of my hair and having to perform a serious loc detox. Horrendously, this is the second time that this has happened at her shop and she was advised of this the first time which she apologized and blamed her staff for not allowing me to dry longer so I wanted to give the owner another chance as a black owned business but clearly its her methods and she teaches unprofessional ways of handling loc'd hair and as I can see, she knows nothing about proper loc care. I cannot as a customer pay to have my hair done and go home to redo tragedy. I texted her personally and have not heard back from owner and definitely will not patronage this establishment ever again!!! I support black businesses but you should never support a business with horrible practices no matter what color they are.
